"My issue is with the small screen. There are some things I cannot see without moving the screen up and down. My main issue is with the finger pad. I keep getting some icon popping up that moves the screen more than I want it to move. It is nice looking, light and easy to travel with. Maybe I will get used to the screen and the finger pad."

"This notebook has several shortcomings, the most obvious of which is sluggish performance. It does not even stream videos. I've ordered the additional 1G of RAM but according to other reviews I've read it's not likely to help much. Next, it doesn't even come loaded with a complete operating system, but with Windows 7 "Starter." Of course you can upgrade for additional $. And that's just the beginning of the useless adware this already slow machine comes loaded down with. I usually have to reboot it at least once a day because it freezes when I type in the password to unlock it, because I'm trying to type and random numbers start typing out while I'm using the alpha keys, or for some other random reason. My last major complaint is the cursor action. Obviously it's been programmed with all sorts of "enhancements" that make it scroll poorly in all programs and cause the browser screen to zoom in and out when all I'm trying to do is move the cursor across the screen. I have not yet figured out how to disable this incredibly annoying "feature." I bought this notebook instead of a tablet because I need something small to write, do online research and do other productivity tasks on, not a toy for gaming and surfing. Its performance is a major disappointment."

"I was in the market for a new pc. I only use my computer for fun and wanted something a little smaller than my old one. All of my friends have the new ipad, and I have played around with theirs. I made the decision to go with the mini netbook, and am so happy that I did. I love that my netbook is just as portable, more durable, and runs faster than the ipad. I did replace the memory module to a 2 gig, and am very glad that I did. It seemed to run a tad slow with the 1 gig it came with. Over all I am very pleased with my netbook."

"I love working on this little machine. It's very portable, and I can fit it into my briefcase/purse. The only problem I'm having is that for the wifi to connect to the internet, I have to be in the same room as my wireless modem -- it doesn't seem to pick up the signal in the rest of the house. My husband's laptop and our phones pick up the wifi signal just fine, so I don't understand why this would be the case."

"I bought this laptop specifically as a lightweight travel companion to replace my previous tiny toshiba. I wish I had held on to the old one because this one is not as user friendly. The keyboard is stiff and noisy. It feels flimsier (I dropped the previous one several times without a problem and this one already has a cracked screen). I also don't like the user interface: the wireless connections are hard to manage, the web camera is buried deep in the program menu, the document storage is clunky to access. I will not hold on to this one too long."

"I needed a computer for travel and I wanted something very small and light, long battery life, but with desktop performance. I tried tablets, but this laptop is more versatile. It is so convenient, I often use it at home now, even though I have a desktop and another Toshiba laptop."

"I really like this netbook: the size, upgraded to 2GB and works great, love the dvd player, battery life, mini mouse, 3 usb ports, wifi; weird position of the on/off button, could be in an easier place, the speaker is very inadequate, (bought goal zero speaker that connects to headphone jack and recharges with usb-great little speaker), should have a matt screen don't like the glossy; had to buy usb phone/internet/fax modem because it doesn't have a direct connection for dial up-weird; still very happy with this great little netbook."

"I purchased the Toshiba NB505 because my Dell Inspiron Mini9 netbook crashed and it was not going to be repaired in time for it to return with me to Mexico. It and all but one accessory was delivered in three days well before my travel date. The remaining item was delivered the next day. It has a good feel and the keyboard is a very good size and the machine feels substantial. All the hardware worked except for the touchpad. It was unstable and upon reinstall of Windows 7 it did not work at all. I am a Linux user and I use Linux Mint on netbooks because everything just works well including Skype. Skype is my telephone and the version that was installed for Windows did not work at all. A Toshiba Tech told me that it is a beta version and I would need to install a prior release. I found Windows 7 to be a little better than XP but still not as good as Ubuntu or Linux Mint, my prefered operating systems. I am not a tech, just an avid user of computers and hoping to reach the geek level someday."

"The netbook has more features than I expect from something this small. The location of the power button is awkward, and one of the things I always liked about Toshiba laptops was having physical switches for the wireless antenna and sound, but I can live without that."

"I purchased this laptop to replace my previous Toshiba laptop but it was not a netbook. I loved my previous laptop and grew to trust the brand Toshiba. That Computer went through thick and thin and never skiped a beat. When it was time to purchase a new laptop we didn't want to spend allot of money and the Toshiba NB505 was a great price plus it was on sale! I was sold instantly, I wsa a little concerned becuase it was a netbook and not a full computer.. Let me tell you besides not having a cd drive I have noticed little difference, there is even a option to buy an external cd drive which would pretty much make this a fully funtional computer. The battery life is AMAZING, it will go a full 8hrs with a full charge. I am pretty much in love with this netbook and am 110 percent happy with it. Once again Toshiba has outdone itself."

"Cons: I think the battery life could be a little better, but overall it lasted a really decent amount of time, much better than most! I think for the price, the Mini Notebook, should at least come with a full version of a operating system, you don't get anything else with. Pros: I love everything else about this Mini Notebook it performs just like my fullsize Toshiba. My husband has had no problems using the keyboard and actually said he likes the mini too. I absolutely love the color, my fav! When we fly this will be a welcomed addition to our packing list, the old laptop was weighing us down. It did come with an e-reader on it. I plan to upgrade it to a 2GB, I also installed Microsoft Office 2007. It has been awesome!"

"This is exactly what I needed - lightweight, small and easy to carry without sacrificing screen quality and processing speed. The keyboard is extremely comfortable for its size, the screen crisp and clear. It's advertised mainly as a communication device for Web browsing, email and Skype but I've already put it through some serious software and graphics loads without a hiccup. I wasn't planning on using it for heavy-duty PC-like applications but it looks like it will be able to handle anything I dish out without objection. I purchased this at a small military retail outlet at a fairly remote location in the Middle East and it came out of the box undamaged and ready to go, with no problems. This is a great buy and I'm pleasantly surprised by the NB505's capabilities, capacity and quality. Recommended for anyone who doesn't need more load to carry but does need ease of handling and packing, especially if you're on the move a lot."
