"After 12 years with a wonderful -- but now ancient -- Dell desktop, I wanted a small, much more powerful laptop with a DVD/CD drive. Based on Consumer Reports reliability ratings, I chose Toshiba. Now both my wife and I have Toshibas. This Portege is everything I wanted! I had to, however, give "Features" a four star because of the apparent inability to control color schemes. Color choices are all too light, whether in Windows 7 or in a particular application. If someone in Toshiba Support reads this, maybe there is a trick?"

"The Protégé is only lacking one thing and that is the ability to make a Bluetooth connection. Having that would have earned 5 stars on features."

"For my study I was looking for a portable (13-14' screen) laptop with a great computing capability and volumous battery. I used to have Toshiba Satellite, but it was too heavy and its battery was too weak. So I looked at Portege serie. The laptop comes fully-loaded with I5 processor and DVD reader and quite a big battery. It is also light and easily portable."
