"I've been using this laptop for a few weeks now and haven't had any problems with it. It is very thin and light so it is easy to carry. It was good battery life and is easy to use. When downloading software it does get a little noisy, but is perfect other than that. Would recommend to everyone!"

"Lightweight, reasonably fast, larger hard drive, long battery life is what I looked for for myself and my twin daughters at college. I was worried about reviews concerning the flimsy screen but bought anyway. One week after I received the new laptop, my daughters came up and showed me their cracked screen cases - same spot on both pcs. A major design flaw that I will probably experience on my new laptop. Not happy. Had trouble with the unit starting after a downloaded "upgrade" from Toshiba. Had to pull the battery to get the system to re-find itself."

"I really like my new laptop but I find the touchpad to be a little finnicky ... skewing wildly depending on where my hand rests. I play a lot of online scrabble and tapping on the scrabble board to change directions almost never works properly. But I love the weight, battery life, speed, so I guess I'll just have to get used to the instability of the touch pad."

"This is my second Toshiba laptop, and I bought it specifically because my last one was so dependable and durable. The last one lasted me almost 5 years, and this new Portege is perfect for all my professional needs. I'll be using it for teaching and connecting with far away friends. "I love this laptop. It's light, the battery really lasts (they're not lying abou this), and powerful, but it's NOT for gamers. The video memory is shared with the computer's RAM, and if you have a lot open and start a video-intensive game, you will see a performance drop (why I gave it a 4 for performance). However, if you're like me -- travel a bit, want something to do general computer work, crunch numbers, and occassionaly play a game or watch a movie, it's a great box."

"I am overall very happy with this computer. It is lightweight, fast, and has an excellent screen. On the downside, the keyboard is not backlit (a moderate negative) and it is a little thicker than advertised because it has feet that can't be removed."

"This laptop has been great so far. Here are my three complaints that should be improved in future models: 1) The keys: I would prefer them to be matte/slightly textured instead of glossy, and slightly larger (I think the keys should run side-by-side together instead of having gaps between them). They're also slightly noisy/clicky. 2) The left and right click buttons are extremely noisy. You don't have to use them much if you use the touchpad for touch-to-click, but I like to use the buttons and they're very "clicky" (you couldn't use them in a library without getting a few glares) 3) The fan: It does make a touch of noise when it's working a little extra hard (not more than other laptops probably) Other than that, it's excellent!"

"light, fast, nice design, bit noisy at times, display colors are pale compared to my previous toshiba,it seems that it lacks clarity, vibration sensor is annoying and preistalled programs do not run sometimes due to so many security certification requirements etc etc. overall OK. i would recomend it for this price."
