"I was looking for an upgrade to my previous Toshiba laptop and this ultrabook seemed to be the best choice. I looked as several other manufacturers and elected to stay with Toshiba. This laptop weighs about half my previous 13" model. I find the power more than adequate. I can run all my apps without any slow down. I get between 5 -6 hours of battery life. The backlit keyboard is great when working at night. The fingerprint reader makes logging on very easy. I had no problem registering my fingers and it reads them with no problem. I have not found anything I don't like. You will need to purchase an external optical drive for your DVDs. This is part of making this laptop so portable. I don't use a DVD often, but got one for loading some software and accessing CDs."

"Compared to it's competition this laptop has held up pretty well so far, bought it mainly because of it's features which were lacking in other Ultra laptops, only improvements needed are better resolution on the monitor besides that it's a winner, go buy one you won't regret it."

"Shedding pounds does not mean sacrificing performance with this I7 laptop. I am amazed at how much quicker everything is compared to the Satellite I bought just two years ago. One problem: The external DVD drive I purchased failed and wound up corrupting the system and I had to put it in the shop to diagnose and get Windows re-installed. I strongly suggest a fresh installation anyway to get rid of all the Toshiba pre-installed software."

"This laptop is great for work and travel. It is very light and approximately the size of a magazine. I like being able to throw it in my handbag when I'm traveling, and having it not be too heavy to carry around. The battery lasts for a good 5 hours so I don't have to bring my charger with me. I had it with me at a conference and several people asked about the model number so they could get the same one!"

"Very light and responsive... quick start ups and shutdowns. Moves between various displays and programs quickly. Better battery life than any other laptop I've used before. I do have a problem with either my palm or left hand unintentionally influencing some keys; which moves the cursor."

"The Toshiba Portege Z835 ST6N03 HAS JUST ONE PROBLEM which I believe may be merely a fix to the firmware. There is an external VGA connector. WHY is the output is limited to 2048 x 1536? The CPU chip is an i7, and the graphics is Intel HD 3000. I have a DELL 30" display of 2560 x 1600 pixels. THE PORTEGE Z835 ST6N03 FAILS TO DRIVE IT AT ITS FULL RESOLUTION. I don't know how the decision was made, but why stop the VGA output at such a low number when reasonable displays go larger? ----------------------------- I've been a Toshiba customer since 2004 when I bought my first Portege. Something has happened to your customer database and I am no longer allowed to login under my email-for-life address of cshutch@umich.edu. I sure wish you would FIX this problem. Thanks, Chuck"
