"The Toshiba Portege Z935 is a light weight ultra book that sports fast start up times and reliable performance. Equipped with the core i7 Intel processor, it is very fast. I also own a MacBook Air and in my unscientific testing, the startup time from opening the lid with the computer asleep, to reaching the desktop is comparable for both computers. The Toshiba is lighter, but also feels flimsier. The body is plastic and there is a significant amount of "flex" in the screen and body of the computer that you just don't feel in the Mac, which has an aluminum body. I have purchased approximately 6 different Toshiba laptop models over the past 12 years, and while I am generally impressed with the build quality and durability of this brand, the "sturdiness" of this ultra book does not compare to that of the Mac. Perhaps this is why it is cheaper. Overall, it is a great computer for those who want an ultra lightweight laptop to haul around, but I think you have to be very careful with it because it may not stand up to serious abuse. It is a little cheaper than a MacBook Air, but you'll have to decide if it's worth saving a few hundred dollars or not. I personally think you get what you pay for. If you don't mind using Windows 8, then cheaper may be better for you."

"I am very pleased with my Portege. It's very lightweight and easy to carry. Battery life is well beyond my last laptop and the start up is very fast. I am impressed with the solid state hard drive. i don't play DVDs on a laptop; so having a separate DVD player is not a problem. It is a shame that the only operating system available is Windows 8. The geniuses at Microsoft have outdone themselves with complexity. It seems to be new design for its own sake, although this is not what the Windows 8 for Dummies book will tell you. I don't need to see everything on my screen at the same time. Still haven't mastered the photography section. Cannot do anything without going back to the home page and beginning again. I didn't need my computer to look like my iphone. Ridiculous. But love the laptop."

"Love, love the speed - also the weight, screen and backlit keyboard. No external optical/dvd drive can be installed on this portege 935 as there is no compatible win8 driver. This is a BIG problem with no answer in sight. Also the space is a little flukey when typing fast."

"I read a lot about other brands, but decided to buy the z930 as it has the same weight and features of other brands. I am more than happy with my choice, as it is lightning fast. Although I was afraid of the windows 8 new OS, it surprised me a lot how fast it is (although it would be nice to have a task bar, which I added), to the point that I am switching my desk to W8 also. Highly recomend the laptop"

"Toshiba has had several years to get this little laptop right. I had an 835 beofre this one. I was led to believe they had addressed the one major flaw of this computer, they have not! Toshiba is hung up with wasting keyboard space! The insist on taking up two inches of space on the right side of the keyboard for redundant Page Up/Down Keys - The result, they shrink all of the other keys making the computer impossible to type accurately on! The space bar and most other keys are too small and out of place. The rest of this computer is amazing!"

"Using lesser quality parts then before, does not specify which laptop adapter is used. Does not support dual band or triple band on this high end laptop. Also does not support 5ghz band for wireless. For this price, these things should be part of it."

"Great light PC. Feels fantastic. Really wonderful to work on. Battery really goes on and on. All the movements are attractive. It really feels great to use this and carry this. BAD: The strap on the power cord is too short to wrap around the power cord. I still need to go purchase a velco strap. Sloppy oversight. None of the power accessories work for a plane (ignore words and support, they do not). They are just heavy general junk I do not need. They have no good power sources even though this is the same power input port they have on my last Toshiba bought 2 years ago. Please provide me a solution for travel."
