"I was very upset when my wife declared i had to ditch my high performance desktop with custom sound cards, dual vid cards, 5 drive raid arrays, and custom water cooling for a laptop. Too much space and noise, she said.
Performance and screen size were my main priorities. Price, batter life, and weight were not so important.
After doing research, the Qosmio seemed like the best bet. I was a bit dissapointed that the max internal hard drives were dual 500gb 7.2's (I had 5 450 10k drives in my old desktop). And 8gb of RAM, while nice, isnt quite enough either for some of the sound apps editing i do. But nevertheless - a fantastic laptop that you cannot go wrong with."

"This a a great laptop. Its easy to use and great for those who want better quality and output than from a Dell or HP. I have owned both and know what a great product this is. I have become a true believer in Toshiba as I was very skepticle before. The performance of this laptop is the best. As for the battery legnth what can you expect from a hight output laptop. I usually have it plugged in so its not a big issue for me."

But I really like the computer. Like the back light but it does not stay on so u have to press a key for it to come on. Wish u could get it to stay on it u wanted it too."

"This is the second Qosmio Laptop that I have purchased. The first was the AV412 model which I am still using today. This model will be handed down to a family member as it still has plenty of life and use left.
The Qosmio X775 that I recently purchased with the quad core intel chip is a dream when to comes to being able to handle numerous applications open at the same time.
I purchased the Qosmio again because of my success and happiness with the performance and features of the previous Qosmio which has been in service for 4 years. The only thing I needed on the previous Qosmio was addition RAM capability which I did purchase.
At this point, I have used HP, Dell and Gateway products and have found that Toshiba products to be far superior in inovation, durability, performance and couple that with knowledgeable Tech Support personnel; Toshiba is worth paying the higher price for similar models from other manufacturers."

"This laptop is everything that I hoped it would be! Handles all tasks quickly and the Harmon Kardon speakers sound wonderful when playing music....I also own other laptops, but trust me none of them have the sound or performance this one does...my only complaint is the screen is so glossy it has a big time glare...but that can be fixed..overall I HIGHLY recommend this laptop and oh, by the way the keyboard is awesome to type on, I love the backlit keys."

"After months of extensive research of laptop computers, I chose this computer. Great tech features and very fast. However, I was disappointed that the computer was loaded with useless games and other programs. It lacked some of the basic full versions of programs, like Windows Office; it only had a trial version. This computer replaced my dated Sony Vaio, which by the way, was fully loaded with tons of software, without having to purchase additional software. Finally, Toshiba, you should consider giving a military discount, to the military community. Many of my fellow service members, purchase computers from your competitor Dell, because of the fantastic military discount."

"I love my new Qosmio X775-Q7384. I like the green button option, the silent key board, the speed/power and the screen size and resolution. It is very sturdy, but heavy. The weight is not a factor, because I purchased this to reside 99% of the time on a table. The back lite key board is also a plus as are the Karmon/hammond speakers! I do wish the seller would have included the backup software discs. There are still many features I have not used at this time of writing this review. I am extremely happy with this purchase and still use my cheap Toshiba Satellite on my home network."

"Well, I have been on this laptop for 2 months. I have been interesting in getting one and this suit me good for the games I play with. The only problem I have been having is that some Window Vista Games will not play with Window 7. Some games I would have to uninstall and re-install. Otherwise the Laptop is great, fast and has alot of features. The -con about this laptop is that it didn't come with the hardcopy application disks and that is probably to save money/cost. I had to burn the application on disks and USB 16 GB Flashdrive if it ever crashed. It is a beautiful and excellent laptop for my everyday use. Highly recommend this laptop, if you like to pay the price for it, I did. Buy a cheap one and you end up buying another down the road."

"This is our first laptop. Since it's replacing a desktop, we spent more money to get a 17" screen and more memory/speed so it wouldn't need to be replaced anytime soon. Looked only at Toshiba and Asus, based on the recommendation of the local computer guru (#1) and then Consumer Reports (#2). It's been a very easy transition, and we're very happy with the Toshiba."

"A fast and stable laptop. Laptop has a solid feel and a great look. Keyboard is easy to use and I love the backlit keys. It has no problem with the "heavy lifting", it handles the most demanding programs with relative ease. If I had any reservations about this laptop is the power brick is gigantic, but that sshould not be a deal breaker. Bottom line, it looks good, it sounds good, it works great."

"This is the most expensive latop I have every owned but I needed high end video performance and I seem to be traveling a lot for the last year The laptop is sturdy! Heaver than other but at least I don't worry I will grip it to hard and break the case. I am happy to carry a little extra weight for a laptop that has yet to give me the blue screen of death in a month of 7 days a week video production and editing!
If I were designing a laptop I would think a couple of additional USB ports would be good but so what- I have a hub."

"This laptop performs as expected. I don't use it till the battery is almost dead. Thats why 1 star for battery because, I don't want to lose my progress in game to find out how long the battery life is. It works on all new games today. I drive a semi so the keyboard lights are perfect for the low lighting. I also like the TOSHIBA Video Player with Resolution+ Upconvert Technology*, and the Corel® WinDVD BD software much better than Windows Media Player!"

"I love the style, the speed, and the features of this laptop. This is my 1st Toshiba and I'm very much impressed. I agree with other reviews, the battery should be improved w/o using the ECO feature to get more battery life. I feel the battery rating should be under normal conditions, so far, I get about 2.5hrs from a fully charged battery.
Overall, I'd recommend this laptop to others with the warning to beware of battery life, it's short."

"Just got it yesterday..best all around performer except for a few things..
Let me start with cons: Screen res is okay, but higher screen resolution (full hd) is a better option, and most of us would be really happy if toshiba could come up with a 12cell battery for this beast. Even with optimus, and eco feature turned on, i cant get more than 2.5hrs.
pros: great design, superb speakers from harman kardon, beautiful red backlit keyboard, great keyboard i have to say(quiet and no flex noticed), even its body is not metal, the plastics are great solid and quality feel. i think that makes it slightly lighter than other laptop brand within its class.
i would highly recommend this to any gamers, or anyone who wants a great multimedia performance."

"Very fast processor; computer works great at not only gaming, but makes a powerful tool for more than average office or video work loads. I've been using it for a little over 6 mo. and have had no problems at all. Built in speakers are way above average for a L/T and I watch NetFlix movies often without any add on speakers. Graphics card is outstanding and have never had even a slight jitter with high speed action flix's etc.
I'm not a gamer but use this computer for all around computing and it handles the tough office stuff AdobeX file merge etc. very well. Only nit picky complaints are the case could be a little more sturdy feeling but I guess the thin plastic cuts down on weight, although with battery installed and the very large power supply to carry with it, I can't see anybody actually using this for regular traveler. This in my opinion is a great "desktop" replacement computer that you can move around the house and use your wireless-n for whatever you want to do. Definitely not a "traveler". So far processor heat etc. has been better than smaller L/T's I've owned and if you don't mind the weight on your lap it seems to cool very nicely. Battery life is marginal at best; about an hour with a DVD playing and less with heavy processor/graphics workload. Like I said, not a real big concern, as this L/T is way to big for airplane rides etc. Tip: spend the extra couple bucks and get the 1080p HD model. These guys aren't cheap anyhow so spend the extra bucks and max out the display and get the 1080p + 3D. Only thing I would get extra if I was going to do a "do-over"."

"I have been using my Satellite A660 for quite a while now and like it very well. When in Frys the other day I saw the Qosmio 17 + inch and fell in love with the large screen, I looked on line at toshiba direct and could not resist the price so I bought two one for me and one for my sister. So far we both love the Qosmio (can't pronounce it but love it).

The screen is awful. November 27, 2011

"At first glance, the performance-wise specs of this laptop are great. It's got a blazing fast quad-core i7, a GTX 560M which surprisingly has Optimus (switchable graphics) support,
... but this laptop has a glaring flaw that sets it at a fundamentally inferior level to most other 560M-equipped laptops. The screen, rather than being 1920x1080, is a 17.3" 1600x900 display, which is the worst type of screen available for a 17.3" laptop. 1600x900 resolution in a screen this large makes everything onscreen big, and limits multitasking because you can't fit as much onscreen at a time as you should be able to fit on a screen this large. Since 17.3" 1600x900 screens are budget-grade LCD panels, the contrast ratio of this display is very low and image quality is quite poor.
Some of the available models do have 1920x1080-resolution displays, but those are the 3D-edition models that do not have Optimus support, which is the only real advantage of the Qosmio over other 560M-equipped laptops.
The screen is an essential component of the computer, and in a laptop costing this much, a better screen should be the first thing included. I advise you, potential buyer, to look into other 15.6" and 17.3" 560M+ equipped laptops that have better displays."

"I own a Qosmio X775-Q3784 for 3 weeks, and it's really a fantastic product. Design and size are quite good. Performance is the highest i've seen in my common activities, like working on music composition and production in my studio with a high end pro DAW and advanced synths, as well in graphic works like graphic design. And also gaming is really an amazing experience, games run swift with all max settings, an average of 60 fps in MW3 for instance, no problems to date at all. The temperature keeps low in most of the task, increasing only a little in gaming due to obvious reasons, but it still remains cold compared to my older laptop pc. Maybe the only one problem is the battery duration, at least in gaming it runs low so fast, but that's within normal parameters, no one can ask a battery that lasts 2 hours of full setting games, but for other tasks it works for around 2 hours in normal settings, maybe more with the eco-utility activated. Overall, this product has 5/5 stars, i'm really glad and proud to have this essential high end laptop PC at my studio for work and entertainment as well."
