"My previous laptop was reliable, but I believe it had the worst speakers ever made, so one of my criteria in a new laptop was for it to have good speakers. That is how I zeroed in on the Toshiba A series laptops with their excellent Harmon/Kardon speakers. I also prefered the new I core processors, so this A665 model fit the bill. I really liked this computer so it was with great dismay that on the first day of use that it showed signs of hard drive failure; The very first day! I went through the procedure of reinstalling everything from scratch using the recovery disks I made first off. It didn't work. Every few startups it would fail to boot and go to a screen that showed HDD fail. Extremely disappointed, otherwise really liked this laptop. I had to return it and it was no longer available. I also wanted the laptop to have a bluray drive which this had. I would have given this laptop another shot were I able to get a replacement. Since I did like this laptop so much I decided to get a less capable version of it which was available (A665-S5172) but still had the great speakers and bluray drive. I have had it for five days and so far so good. I am apprehensive though as I have read a disturbingly high number of reviews of Toshiba laptops that have suffered very early hard drive failures. Now I don't know how this compares to other brands, but an out of box new laptop should not experience hard drive failure. If not for this problem, I would have given this laptop 5 stars accross the board."

"The preformance is good. The keyboard is not. I have to punch on several keys to make them work startng with the space key. My previous laptop, a Satellite L3050-S5938 hada better keyboard. It is in the shop due to the mouse pad going bad."

"Works well. Start up is a little slow and have two keys that i have to push hard to get to work on key board. But overall happy with this laptop"

"This is my first laptop and I researched many brands before purchasing. I mainly use it for e-mail, photos and games and it will run many programs at the same time with no problems. The case feels very sturdy and has a great look. The sound is decent too.The only complaint I have is that it was slow to start up until I tweaked the start up programs. Now it starts up quickly. Very pleased with this purchase."
