"I just bought my laptop today after haveing a Dell desk top since 2005. My fiance and 19 year old son has a toshiba laptop also so i was excited to get my own. I love it so bar but this is the 1st day but after reading the reviews i see no big worries and i pray all will go well with mine cause it's paid for now."

"I like the laptop very much. The built-in mouse pad is a pain. If I am scrolling with my right index finger I can't have my left hand resting any where on the case because it thinks I am activating the left click button. This drives me crazy. I can use an external mouse but use the pad a lot.
The shiny screen is nice in dark areas but the glare is aweful any where else. You will need screen cover.

"Well, my last laptop was an HP (not sure of the model) but it cost about the same as this laptop, but it contained a few more things that I enjoyed...
The Toshiba Satellite C655-S5128 is a decent laptop, but only if you're going to use it strictly for business or school. As far as entertainment goes, I was a little disappointed. The speakers are a complete joke... If you really want to have any kind of sound for music or movies, you have to have an external pair of speakers for use... otherwise all of your media will sound canned with no bass at all."

"If you're looking for a smooth running machine, this might not be the best choice for you, but for most people, the glitches that I've experienced will be no issue. Two things really, are all I can complain about: First, there are only two USB ports on this machine. Uh, really? Everything is plug and play. More USB ports, please. Still, easily solvable with a USB hub.
The second is that there's a weird little glitch when switching between applications now and again. I chalk it up to have half a dozen or so applications open at a time, but even so, it shouldn't happen. It's nothing major, but you would expect a smoother transition.
Other than that, I'm completely satisfied. I love the keyboard, both for feel and layout, and the battery life on this thing is pretty darn good for what it is."

"The Satellite C655-S5128 was not for me. I had several issues with it from the moment I started using it. The keyboard seemed like cheap plastic, and the area surrounding the keyboard was like sand paper. The space bar did not work when pressed on the right. Neither I nor the Geek Squad could fix the mouse that was "out of control". I exchanged the C655-S5128 for the Satellite L745-S4210. I love EVERYTHING about the L745. I prefer the larger screen of the C655, but nothing could beat the L745. I would recommend it to everyone!"

"It was difficult to get used to, but we got a mouse so we wouldn't have problems with the pad. My husband and I share the laptop and the other computer, too.
We have 2 Toshiba TV's and they have given us good service.
It has taken us both awhile to get used to the laptop, but we are enjoying it."

"I gave a 3 on Features because the laptop did not come with anything. However, I didn't need anything, all my programs run fine, and the Bulletin Board feature is interesting. It also comes with a camera thing at the top of the screen, which I will never use."

"About 30 days into ownership, I experienced malware on my laptop which crippled it. In 30 yrs of experience, this was my first. I had a small problem reading my S/N to the Tech Rep but once that was solved, he guided thru the re-imaging process and I'm good as new!"

"This is the 12th Toshiba laptop I have purchased. I have purchased the high end Satellite down to this one. It is great for home. I opted to spend a little more on the new I series processors. The old series i.e., Core2Duo, etc., would overheat and crash persistently. These do not. The features are great. My only little, tiny quibble is the speakers. They do not put out much sound, not really that big of a deal when earbuds or external speakers are an option. It is great for Students and homemakers alike. Good for the home office too. Overall I think this is a great laptop."

"Overall this is a pretty basic laptop for the money. I kind of wish i would had spent the extra money on a little higher quality laptop. I am impressed with the performance but the battery life is terrible. I can get a maximum of 2 hours running on the battery before i have to plug it back in because the warning sounds saying the battery is low. The box it came in said it had a 5 hour battery life but i think that they exaggerated a lot. If you are looking for sound quality this is not the computer for you. The speakers are quiet and sound like tin. This model seems to run very hot as well. It always has hot air comming from the fan on the side. I would reccomend a higher quality toshiba laptop. Toshiba seems to be a great brand but this model lacks in a lot of catagories."

"Just received this as an early graduation gift and love it, my first laptop was a Dell, it ran well but caught alot of viruses and ran slow ( I had it for three years). To be honest I still you use it as my primary laptop and I use this one for business work. This laptop however has great speed, a stunning screen resolution, very light in weight compared to my old laptop. The only issue I have is with the sound, if Toshiba were to upgrade this I would definitely say that the sound needs to be worked on a bit, by increasing the max volume level and sound quality. My music sounds far away as compared to my Dell which was quite loud when turned all the way up. Other than that I really like this laptop alot. Oh and also if you purchase it, buy a laptop cover, keyboard and screen cover, its soo sleak that you wont want any dirt or smudges on it :)"

"This is my second Toshiba laptop, first new one, The first Toshiba laptop was used. It was nice and I really like the quality of the Toshiba. After doing some comparison shopping I decided to stay with the Toshiba, because of value. I got the best bang for my dollars and in this economy it all about to best value for the dollar.
My only complaint is that the battery when on the internet does not last very long about an hour maybe a little more. Otherwise I would highly recommend this product."

"This is a great laptop for the money, and it performs very good. Big size (ideal size actually), but not cumbersome or heavy. Energy saving features are not intrusive, and allow battery life beyond 4 hours. It's not flashy, which I like. The negatives: touchpad is odd sometimes, it does not have a lot of connections (only 2 USB and no HDMI), and the speakers are weak, but they had to save money somewhere. Overall, excellent job Toshiba!"

"I find this particular laptop easy to use. The screen quality and colors are clear and crisp. The speed is excellent. "I've been using this laptop for a month. My old laptop crashed and I needed a fast replacement at an affordable price. The unit performs well but suffers from some design flaws. The keyboard has been difficult to adjust to for me because of the numeric keypad that I'm not used to. There are only 2 USB ports which is a problem sometimes. The power cord plugs in on the right side and interferes with DVD access and sometime the mouse. There are no camara memory card slots. I like the capacity and performance and the screen is bright. I would recommend this to someone who did not care about the design problems and needed a laptop based on price, capacity and performance."

"My last laptop was a Hewlitt Packard. It was problematic from the very beginning. I finally gave up. My son and grandson both have Toshibas and are very happy with them so I bought one too. "Overall, I am pleased with the machine. The display is great, the hard drive is huge and with 4Gb of memory and i3 processor, the machine is really fast.
The only problem encountered that is yet to be solved is that the built in microphone works sporatically. Although the Toshiba tech support was great, they couldn't permanently fix the problem.
My guess it that the problem is caused by or has something to do with Win7 or bugs in the audio drivers/microphone software."

"I like this particular unit because it is lightweight and easy to use. I would prefer that the USB outlets be on the right hand side of the laptop rather than the left, and that there be 4 instead of 2. I not had this laptop long enough to give it a better review. I have another Toshiba which is a little larger and heavier. I have found that I prefer Toshiba over Dell, HP, Acer or other comparable laptops."

"This is my first labtop computer and the features are great but the dislikes are the battery life and the speakers. I only get two to two and a half hours out of the battery and the speakers are not quality sounds speaker. They sound high picth!!! Other than that, I like the Toshiba Satellite C655-S5128."

"This is my second Toshiba laptop,and I am already extremely satisfied.Large bright screen and fast i3 processor makes this a great buy.The addition of a DVD/CD tray without a large increase in weight is a big plus,E-mail and surfing the web is fast and easy.I initially got about 3hrs of battery life,and I could probably squeeze out a little more if I doodle around with the power settings.I have had very good customer phone support for my other Toshiba Netbook,and that was a contributing factor towards this purchase as well.I would have liked the 3rd USB port but you can't have it all."
