"The sound system on this computer is awful. The volume does not go high enough and the sound quality is not good. I like to listen to internet radio while working and find the sound just does not meet my needs. I will be smarter in the future and check the sound quality before I purchase another computer, and it probably will not be a Toshiba. Very disappointed."

"The size is nice. Not to heavy. Don't know about the battery life yet. I was suprised to see the cost of a battery for this unit. Very high in my opinion, but this is my first laptop. Wish it had at least one more USB port."

"Computer is fast and has a numeric keypad which is handy.
It would be better if I could screw the vga cable on to the port - no nuts on the connector.

"I wanted to love this Toshiba Satellite laptop but the screen broke within 3 days and it costs more to fix it than I paid for it. I want to say that the soft lid cover contributed to the screen breaking but I cannot be sure. My daughter was using the computer on her bed and the dog was on the bed also and the screen came up broken and therefore unusable. Her old computer was a Dell that you could literally stand on so this model is much less sturdy.
We bought the Toshiba because of the price and because I use an older Toshiba laptop and am satisifed with it other than its poor speaker volume. Had this new Toshiba not broken immediately upon purchase I think we would have liked it."

"Very nice laptop. The main drawbacks are battery life...says 5 hours, but more like 2 hours or less.
Thefan are gets VERY hot. Sound isn't the best...could be clearer and louder. I personally don't like the shiney case.
Otherwise good value. Does what I want and is good and fast."

"I purchased a new Toshiba laptop about a month ago, taking advantage of the low prices. All in all it's a good computer that fits my needs, websurfing with good wordprocessing software. My only complaint so far is that the keys are already wearing out and I'm thinking out how I prolong the use? It is a bit unusual to have these keys wear out with less than a month's usage, and I don't use the laptop that much. I think Toshiba should look at the overall design of the keys, and upgrade the overall quality of the key's mechanical structire"

"I am sorry I purchased this computer. It has a freezing problem as you are typing which I may need to turn it off to clear this problem. It doesn't matter if I am on the internet or using windows to type a letter the problem continues."

"I recently found myself needing to replace a home computer. My first task was deciding between a desktop and laptop computer. I decided to go with the laptop since I have a wireless network at home and it would allow me to use at the desk (connected to monitor/keyboard/mouse) and have the freedom to use in other parts of the house. I didn't want to spend a lot of money on it since I really only use it for light web browsing, word processing, spreadsheets and solitaire. So far, I've been pleased with my Toshiba. It runs a lot better than the desktop computer I was using. It doesn't seem like it has a great battery life, but since I primarily will use it at home that will not be an issue. It is not very fancy, and does not have internal multimedia controls, however volume and such can be controlled using Function keys. My only other concern is the lid. It seems a little flimsy, so I bought a laptop case/backpack that seems to be padded better than others. I would definitely recommend this to someone that wants an inexpensive laptop for light use."

"If you want a laptop and you are not doing really complicated things with it then this is a perfect one to buy. The price was fantastic and it suits my needs perfectly. I only wish that you could buy a silcone key cover that fit it. They don't have one currently that fits it but they did send me one that was supposed to be compatable but it wasn't for the top row of function keys."

"Over all the laptop is running smoothly. Nice fast start up, but I was upgrading from a dinosaur, so anything would probably seem fast! The one thing I hate is the port placement. USB ports are on the front left side, so the mouse cord has to run all the way around the laptop so the cord is in the way alot! Also, the power cord plugs in near where I use the mouse so I keep bumping it."

"this is an excellent computer. we use it to keep in touch with the long-distance grandbabies. easy to use. the only problem we are having is working the webcam, and we just cant seem to find anyone to tell us how. eventually one of our children will come by and help us--we hope. wish they would of showed us a little slower at the store. thats what happens when you are overwhelmed by computer shopping. would highly recommend this brand and model."

"Have only owned my 1st Toshiba laptop for less than 60 days , I am totally please w/ its performance. "I've always had issues with my laptop in the past. Even if I pay a high price, the perfomance---not that great. This time I looked for one that is cheap, thinking it would break in a few years anyway. After reading reviews of this laptop, I knew this was the one: very inexpensive yet seems to perform fine. No kidding! It works very fast and reliable. The audio is great for me although I found some negative comments about it. I really love my Toshiba laptop!"

"This computer has all of the basic features I needed at a great value. I am a grad student and generally use it for personal and school. It is sleek and easy to transport. It's well made and high quality. The only thing I would improve is the sound quality. The speakers are not very loud or full sounding."

"The performance is excellent, but the speakers are terrible. I can barely hear anything when they're up all the way. I also dislike the mouse buttons, you have to press them pretty hard. Overall the laptop does everything I want it to do and I have not had any problems with it except for the speakers. It really is a fast laptop."

"I have had this for about a month and it has worked amazingly well. I haven't had any problems with it whatsoever. The only thing that really bothers me is the clicking noise it makes when you "click" on a site."

"My previous laptop (HP) screen was damaged. I wanted a different brand because I couldn't stand my HP. I looked around and decided on the Toshiba, and I'm very satisfied with it. It's lightweight, and has lots of nice features which my HP didn't have. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a good laptop for not too much money."

"Wife bought this machine to replace a netbook that was not meeting her needs. This machine has the speed she needs for wireless access and games. Has many of the same features as her desktop, but portable and easy to use. We bought this based on price, reputation, and features. "I do believe the only complaint I have is the speakers, it is kind of hard to understand what is being said sometimes, a little garble and the sound limit is to limited. Otherwise, it is comfortable, light to carry around and having the separate numeric key pad is plus for what I need it for."

"I've used the laptop for such a short time and still learning where things are that I can't offer a responsible opinion.
As an inexperienced user, I wish there was a screen that identified each of the keys and their purpose or a printed pamphlet with that same info. Many of us need the reinforcement of something to refer to, to make us more comfortable and successful. I'm doing a lot of trial/error to find out what they do and that can be frustrating."

"The Toshiba performs beautifully, though I am used to a desktop, and getting used to the comparatively extreme sensitivity of the screen took awhile. Wish I could say the same for the unnecessarily complicated Win 7 and the lack of a non-webmail email program for non-geeks who just want to send mail. If I had it to do over, I would have gotten a refurbished laptop, just so I could keep XP and Outlook Express. This is no reflection on Toshiba, but Microsoft should be ashamed of itself. Toshiba tech support is the best I've ever encountered."

"So far it works well. The design is not very user friendly due to the touchpad is too far to the left instead of being centered with the screen or entire base. This causes wrist pain for heavy users search as myself. Most laptops plug into the left but this one plugs into the right which causes the charger to bend which will break easily. Comes with only two usb ports which means you cannot use a flash drive, printer and external fan at the same time. Overall it works better than the last Dell and Compaq laptops I have owned."
