"I love this laptop, because I can use it for the internet, and for my schooling. Don't work with all games. Need to get cards for games to work. Batteries are good when pluged in, but the battery goes quick when not pluged in, etc."

"Bought one for my mom and g.f. picked up one for her father. Great for internet surfing and light tasks. This is not a high end gaming machine. Need at least an i5 with 6 gig of memory and a Nvidia or AMD graphics. This will, however, do any word processing, spreadsheet app. or simple games without a problem. Screen is too small to for graphics apps. Colour is decent. Contrast is decent. 4 gig. of memory is enough for most people/apps. 320 gig. hdd is a little on the small side, but normal for the price of the laptop. Aside from the small screen (too small for graphics work), this is fine for students whose parents are footing the bill for it. Your kid wants a gaming machine, make them pay the difference, since this is more than adequate for any school-work (non-engineering/science)."

"This is a nice simple laptop for everyday use. Although this isn't a gaming laptop by no means, it does have sufficient speed and performance for simple multitasking very effortlessly and efficiently. I must agree about the low speaker quality but you can tweak it a bit otherwise maybe external speakers are best. Full keyboard with 10-key numeric pad also a plus. Display is great and DVDs looks great. This may not be the best processor but again for the money value it's pretty good and unless you're a gamer or doing daily business then perhaps i3 or higher is better but prepare for the pricetag adjustment too. Overall this gets a very fair and well deserved 4-star rating. This is my 3rd toshiba laptop purchased for myself and as gifts and probably won't be my last.
Enjoy your toshiba whichever one you buy !!"

"I got this laptop for Christmas and I absolutely love it. I don't do anything to strenuous with it, I just type notes and browse on the internet. I have had no problems with how it runs and it has a very long battery life. I wish it had more USB ports and better sound, but other than that it is a wonderful laptop and from what I understand it was very inexpensive. I highly recommend this laptop to students and those just looking for a basic laptop."

"I'm overall happy with the laptop but the screen image is only bright if you look at it from one angle and the battery does not last as long as I expected and the speakers are really not usable. (use headset or ext speakers) But for the price it should last me for what I use it for. I am use to a different platform but this Windows 7 laptop is easy to use even for a new Windows person."

"The mouse pad was very erratic. Sound system was terrible with very little volume. The number key pad did not work at all. Took it back to Best Buy who verified it had problems and because they no longer had this model, they allowed me to return it and purchase a different laptop. This was my second bad experience with a Toshiba laptop. I will no longer purchase nor recommend Toshiba laptops"

"We purchased this laptop for a second computer at home. We also wanted the option of having computer access while away from home. We are very pleased with the performance. It has everything we need, to surf the web, to work on MS Office, or just for entertainment away from home.
It is a bit slow when viewing web broadcasting, but liveable. We would highly recommend this as a second computer."

"I was so upset when a virus hit and the only alternative was to destroy and buy new. I LOVE my Toshiba laptop as it is fast and chic. I can now keep up with my far away friends and relatives. The cost was minimal. Had to add a new printer and wireless mouse but that was a low cost update."

"Just as a kick-around laptop I guess it's not too bad. My main issues are the very low volume the speakers provide, that the battery isn't in securely and is loose and the battery life as well and that the trackpad doesn't respond as well as I feel it should. I would think I should be able to tap it anywhere to "click" but the only place I found that it works most of the time is in the lower right corner. I'm thinking of returning it or at least compare it to other the store has to see if maybe mine is just the exception."

"Could use a couple more USB ports and a Bluetooth antenna. Would be FANTASTIC to have a power connection on BOTH sides of the case when cord length is an issue. Came with 4GB RAM, upgradable to eight. Ordered "another 4GB from Toshiba. Once chip arrived, realized there were two 2GB chips installed. Had to order and ADDITIONAL 4GB chip to make a total of 8GB. A bit of an expensive bummer. Value-for- Prformance is very good. Keyboard could be more egro, but I only paid $249 on Best Buy hot special. Great for Facebook while watching TV, but not a "main computer""

"I bought a new Toshiba based on the great performance and durability of my old Toshiba Laptop. Althought I liked the price and the design it is very difficult and frustrating to use. There is something very strange in operating the keyboard and touchpad and some weird behavior with the cursor. The cursor jumps around and opens different apps that I have no control over. The touchpad is the worst, if you touch it a certain way in zooms whatever is on the screen shrinking the entire image. It is very difficult to place the cursor in a section of a document you are working on. The scroll feature is horrible when used in Microsoft Outlook. It scrolls your files not the email you are looking at. I have gone into the "mouse" and keyboard settings and tried several adjustments that helped only a little. I am really dissapointed and would have returned it but it took several days to load software and lots of support time to get it working like my old one, so I will have to live with it."

"I bought the Toshiba Satellite to replace an HP laptop that had finally crashed after years of use. I originally bought the Toshiba because of the great price but once I started using it I am impressed with the systems ease of use. For a lower end laptop it has some great features and the speed of the processor is very impressive. The speakers are not really up to speed but that is par for a laptop. It also has a very touchy keyboard that jumps a bit, but I am getting used to it, better to use the mouse than the touch pad to manuver through the programs. I would suggest this computer to anyone looking to upgrade from an old laptop and and a really good value for the college student looking for a reliable mobile work station."

"My computer crashed and I debated whether or not to fix it or buy a new one. I bought the Satellite C655D-S5300 for what I thought was a good price. I brought it home and have been very satisfied with it's preformance so far. I use it for E-mails and Bank Accounts and it does a great job of both. My previous Toshiba Computer did everything and was also very good but I guess we all get old with time. I had it for 6 years with no problems."

"The problem I am having in using this laptop:
1.The mouse is too sensitive- everything it goes over it click on. I have had e-mails deleted and sent to one of my move to mailbox and it takes me going through several to find where it went. Whole message I have written have been deleted before I could send because I dragged mouse over another command.. I have tried to make it less sensitive, but haven't been able to yet.
The mouse will act without hitting the left button.
2. The cursor will disappear when I am writing and won't come back until I reboot, but I can still write, but it shows up on different areas of the page.
3. There are times when I type the word shows up on page seconds after I typted it and since I am 1 finger typer I need to look at the letters and don't notice it until I have typed several sentences and then find out it only picked up the first 3 words.
The curser doesn't want to stay where I put it. I will place it on a icon and it moves off the icon. I need to do it several times before it sticks. This seems to happen when it doesn't automatically click on icon.The curser wiggles.
The above isn't a constant, but it happens too much. I tock it too bestbuy, but IT DIDN'T ACT UP FOR THE 2 MINUTES HE TRIED IT. hE went inside and tried to change sensitivity, but it didn't help because it didn't happen when he used it.
These and other problems keep me from using because when I do the above happens to me too often.
5. The page I am on will sometimes completely lock up and I can't use it until I reboot ."

"Extremely good quality at a reasonable price. I showed this off to several friends and they also went out to pick one up. The best feature in this laptop is the full size keyboard. Worst feature is the lack of USB ports on the right side of the laptop. Very minor considering everything else was done right."

"I have just used the laptop to surf the internet and hopefully will get my wife to learn on it. I like Windows 7 and it was more economical for me to purchase a new laptop than buy the software update for an older one. I have always heard Toshiba products were very good. No problems so far and really don't expect any."

"I purchased this laptop to use it for travel and moving around the house. As I also have a powerful desktop I did not need all the bells and whistles. For the money this is a very good laptop that does every thing I need and more. The only thing that it does not have, and that I would like, is a click on port replicator (other than the wireless ones)."

"I just love this laptop. I use to have an Emachine laptop but it wasn't as fast as this laptop. Skype on this is great. I have already recommended this laptop to friends,co-workers and to my customers. When I am looking up things on the web it moves with great speed. I like how the keys on the keyboard are flat and not rounded it is so much faster to type on. It has Toshiba Book Place and on the settings it can be programmed to read the books to you. Colors are great so playing games is so much fun, pics look great."

"I haven't had my satellite for long but so far it rocks. Why the bad review from another consumer?? No, it's not a Mac, but so far it's way better than my old HP, and I (used to) love HP. Light, quiet, and FAST, the best part!!! Before I even got out the door 3 people said I made a GREAT choice...I do agree and would recommend! Oh, wait, my mom bought one too after hearing me talk about it...."

"This is your basic laptop. No fast performance, no fancy gadgets, but for the money its ok. It takes too long to process different things and at time it takes to long to open different tasks. If you can afford another laptop with better performance do it, if not and just want it for surfing the web and basic tasks, than this is the Laptop for you! I will always recommend a Toshiba to anyone, just not this one!"
