"I have owned 4 other satellites with no real problems. But the only complaints are the speaker are kind of weak and the housing feels cheap.

"This is my first Toshiba laptop and also my first experience with Windows 7. I have been using my computer on a daily basis since purchasing it and have found it to be all that it was advertised to be. The laptop design is innovative, every part of it configured with mobility and ease of use in mind. It does reasonably well on battery power considering its having a 17.3" screen and being a technological powerhouse. The display is very crisp, rendering an excellent presentation of pictures and video. The laptop speakers don't offer much in the way of audio quality, but the listening experience when plugged into earbuds or into my Dolby system is phenomenal. The laptop is totally plug-and-play, quickly recognizing devices and assigning drivers to connected hardware. The touch pad is easy to use although I generally plug in a wireless mouse when doing a lot of work. Whether I'm word processing, working with audio, video, or pictures, or doing graphic design, this machine has everything that I need to get the job done.
My only wish is that my Satellite had a couple more USB ports. While working on a recent project I had to unplug a device in order to connect another. It is no great inconvenience, only a little slowdown in my work process.
Thanks for a great, affordable product! I will definitely be browsing Toshiba laptops again when the time comes to upgrade again."

"From the beginig laptop would crash. Bought for online classes, was ready to ship back to Toshiba for repairs then it stopped crashing. Didn't seend back as I needed it for school. Had been running trouble free for about 3 months, now crashes all the time again. Now I need to pay for telephone help."

"Although my son had bad luck with the screen (connections) with his Toshiba laptop some years ago, he was otherwise happy with it, so I thought I would be, too. I find it works very smoothly and is very responsive to the things I want to do - mainly editing photos, handling e-mail and watching movies or TV.
I bought it especially as a back up for my regular desk PC. The only drawback, which I was aware of from other reviews, is the sound is poor. So I bought an inexpensive pair of speakers and it is now perfect!
I recommend it highly!"

"Actually, this is a 'family' laptop used mostly by twin high schoo junior girls and me - Momma. I am still getting used to some of the differences from a desktop and lap top -- example the mouse! - but really - I love this laptop - a friend of mine recommended a Toshiba after he bought one and I would also recommend it - plus you 'tech' support has been great - especially since i am nearly computer illiterate!"

"At my age, there are really few things that impress me. Be it people,food, or products as my new laptop. From the instant that I powered it up, I was impressed. The keyboard, the mouse pad but, mostly the color and clearness of the screen was amazing. Also I have used Toshiba on line for accessories and extended warranty and found that their reps were quite helpful."

"The overall performance of the computer is great, but I don't like that when I am using the mouse the screen is constantly getting bigger then smaller and I don't like that you have to purchase the Microsoft products separately, those programs should come with the computer instead of only getting the "free" version that you can't do much with."

"Only had it for a month, light weight for a 17" screen. Windows 7 is alot better than XP, still getting use to some of the changes. Toshiba could have put in better speakers, these are really bad, as noted in reviews I read before purchase."

"I have two of this model machine. The computer is great, it delivers good performance at a great price. I'm running some high end video editing software on it and it does alright. However... The touch-pad on both machines is the worst responding touch-pad I have ever used. Regardless of settings tweaks."

"I needed a laptop for school. I was in a crunch and got what I could afford. I previous had a Dell and loved it.
This laptop runs a bit slow, the mouse pad is not very easy to maneuver, speakers are low, no flash player, and for the life of me I can't figure out how to stop changing the resolution on the web pages I view. If I scrolling through a website all of a sudden it's a very small.
This computer also get warm quickly."

"Sometimes when I put the cursor at a location to type, the screen goes to the desktop blue screen and the pointer is off the screen. Moving the mouse will correct it. Otherwise, nice computer."

"I love my first laptop! And, the price was right! I have used many of the programs on it (from Word/Excel - Media Player - Movie Maker - Picture Manager - etc - etc that it comes with. There is a lot of room on hard drive and RAM, and I've used its resources to the max. I could go on and on about the features, but that's a part of getting it (finding out what programs it has on it and using them to fit your needs)."

"Average performance overall. Loads apps ok, but the latest IE kind of gets sluggish after a few minutes on this machine and buggy (it may be an IE issue). I have a 4 year old Toshiba Satelite with XP which runs IE slightly faster and no bugs so I know it's not my ISP. Price wise I guess you get what you pay for. I probably should have stepped up a notch on the processor.
Not enought USB ports. Only two. I use a wireless mouse, printer and external burner so I have to swap out occasionally.
I have had success with other Toshiba products, but this one fell just a little bit short."

"And on the third morning he turned on the laptop only to find that it was dead. Stuff happens, and bad components can sometimes get through any company's quality control. I will say that customer service was excellent, and getting a refund was quick and easy. I will most give Toshiba the benefit of the doubt and likely purchase another, but until I do, I can't honestly recommend the product."

"The screen is amazingly high def. I have had this laptop for about a month and have had absolutely no problems. The back up and repair discs are easy to make, the software is easy to use, and the features are great. The keyboard feels so natural and is easy to type on. I am using my laptop mainly for online college, and couldn't ask for a better laptop. I highly and proudly reccommend this product to anyone! Good luck!"

"I needed a serviceable laptop for my daughter and wife to share for schooling needs, social media and occasional MS Office Apps. So far, this laptop has met my expectations. I did a lot of comparison shopping, but in the final analysis, the Toshiba offered the best performance and features for the price. I also considered HP, DELL, and Sony. The screen is large and crisp. Haven't experienced any system freezes and the processing speed is pretty much what I expected. My only disappointment is that the battery life is much less than I expected for a 6 cell. On a good day I can only hope for 2 hours max. Other than that, I'm very pleased."
