"This computer is a good value for the price. I don't like the fact that if I move my mouse quickly to the left, the charms and the time will pop out. I know how to get to the charms if I need them. They should not just pop out by moving the curser to the left. Then I have to click to remove the charms and time.. I don't like that when I stop the curser or start the curser with one finger, a window pops open, almost anywhere on the page as if I clicked there. Other than that this computer operates fine for the price. I love the resolution of the screen and battery life."

"Am enjoying my new Toshiba laptop very much. Am still not familiar with all of the sites that I can get into, but am sure with time, that I will get to them all. I am impressed with how easy it is to use. It is the first laptop that I have bought, because of having my desktop. "The screen resolution is excellent, the keys and touchpad work. This would have been a far better product if it had used the XP OS rather than Windows 8. I have only talked to one person (early to mid-20s) who likes Windows 8, everyone else, including me, does not like Windows 8 at all. Give us back our 'Start' button! No start screen for me/us! It is missing too many quick find elements. The new OS takes way to long to navigate through - Not just trying to find what you want, but way too many screens to log-off & shut down."

"I have many problems with my computer all related to the fact that I don't have a touch screen. I have to use a mouse because the touch pad has never worked. The mouse is continually stopping it's functioning and has to be disconnected and reconnected often. It's a real pain. Also, the keys on the keyboard stick or don't register the letter they represent. This computer is a real pain."

"What really caught my eye first about this laptop was that the keys are a little bigger than ones on other laptops. That combined with the matte finish (not glossy smooth), and action of the keys, makes it so easy to type on if you're a little fumble-fingered or get in too much of a hurry."

"I like my new computer very much. However, I do not like the pressure required of the keyboard to activate the keys. I have to re-push the keys a lot so as not to skip letters.

"This laptop is pretty decent. I like it a lot, it has a great graphics card (AMD Radeon HD 6310) so you can play a lot of games. I've played Burnout Paradise, Sid Meier's Civilization V, League of Legends, Amnesia, Fallout: New Vegas, and many other games seamlessly. It has 4 GB of RAM, which is more than enough for many things, and a 1.3 Ghz dual core processor which is one of the only things I was dissatisfied with. Additionally, there's only 287 GB of hard disk space so you can't go downloading everything you can think of. On the bright side though, the speakers can be moderately loud and sound great so that's something I enjoyed. All of these things combined with its cheap price make this laptop great in my opinion and I'm glad I bought it."

I purchased the Geek Squad service for 1 year and had all the new stuff (my level of knowledge) installed by them. "I find the laptop a little frustrating. As to the hardware, the touch pad doesnt always move the mouse with my finger movement (i think due to the dimple design or reacts to my finger's temperature from the cold of winter). the rest is probably program related. Windows 8 is terrible. Programs switch by themselves with normal finger movement on the touchpad and the computer is always getting shut down due to something called "system service exception"."

"I think it runs kind of slow. When you type you really have to press the key in hard for it to register. I don't understand why it has the desktop screen and windows 8 screen. That doesn't make much sense to me. You get what you pay for."

"I took it back, just could not get it to work for me. I used a watch and timed it, it took an average of 36 seconds to load a page, sometimes as much as 90 seconds to load a page. It would not support my software, and when I took it back and asked if they could fix the function key, so the function keys would work, the guy said the operating system would not allow that to work. I gave it back."

It is difficult to access since there is already a "trial" version of Microsoft Office. All the other links that show up may be fine for people who use all of those features. "Its a decent computer but you pay for what you get. I could have went bigger and therefor more money but this beat most of the deal out there. I search many stores and found this style with 320 hard drive and 4gb ram, the more important was that I can upgrade later and I already had a 1 tb external hd so my need where meet with this one. good overall so far! hella faster than my 2004 model dell but that one was almost ten years old so I just hope this one can last about that long. computer upgrade every minute and get cheaper with more capacity, better features , and more. However, windows 8 is something new to get use to. not a big fan of windows 8 cuz I liked the simpler versions before. too many apps that cuz the computer to work triple time using more data in the end. than most these computers come with so much extra junk that it becomes confusing, though soon I may adjust and that will prob be the norm. Think this computer compares to any other one on the market and is a long-term durable information box. sometimes its the one working it who is less reliable.. But try the machine for yourself!!!!"

"If you need to use any Office Suite product, you are out of luck. If you want a good manual for the product or for the new operating system, you are out of luck. If you want decent sound, you are out of luck. If you want good resolution, you are also out of luck. If you are a newbie looking to figure out what the internet is or how to use email, you may have your needs met. This is a no frills computer with exactly no frills. "Not only extremely slow responses, Windows 8 is hard to manage. It keeps going to start page whenever I do my internetting...very annoying. Also visuals fragment and slow. Often freezes up and keeps going error message of "Something happened and your PC needs to restart". Constantly gets stuck when restarting, forcing me to do a hard shutdown by holding down the power button. I'm considering exchanging this Toshiba for another brand notebook. It's just GOTTA GO!!"

"The settings and time pop up when I least expect it and it's a nuisance. Java installation continually pops up 4-5 times a day, even after it's been installed 4-5 times .It's an inconvenience to switch back and forth from Windows 8 to desktop mode and back again to Windows 8, The games I like to play can only be played in desktop mode. I'm a novice so at times I get frustrated with what the laptop does and doesn't do compared to the old Window series. Adobe Flash is embedded in the computer, but I haven't figured out how to get it to work. The tutorial is confusing because I have to go between the 2 operating systems. But, overall it allows me to play games and email and that's mainly what I want from a laptop"

"I've been trying to save as much money as possible so when I was looking for a new computer I bought the cheapest one I could find. While not a terrible computer, it leaves a lot to be desired in terms of processor speed, memory, multitasking, and so on. If you are looking for a good word processor with which you can also do research online, and check email, it's fine. If you're looking to watch movies, play games, or other tasks along those lines, you're better off spending a few hundred dollars extra for something better.
In short, not a terrible computer, but you're getting what you pay for, which is to say "not much.""

"This laptop freezes frequently and gives frequent messages regarding CPU high usage, which basically shuts everything down. Too often I get a swirling whatever showing that it's trying to do something, yet it simply freezes. My old Toshiba, which I wanted to replace with this one, is far superior. "The laptops camera and mic are wonderful. The mouse pad is very sensitive sometimes and unresponsive others. I had to purchase a wireless mouse to use the computer because and swift movement of the pad and it would freak out and open other screens or close out of the short menu I was working in. Also, the computer is very slow to respond at times even though the only install I made was Microsoft office 10. Otherwise the computer is wonderful! Takes a little bit to get used to the new OS 8."

"after about 2 weeks of average use the laptop failed to turn on. the toshiba screen would flash, and then there was a click and that was it.. took it back to best buy. they reset the battery and told me to use it as much as possible over the next week.. got home . same thing. took it back, they replaced it with a very similar toshiba model.. took it home. it too would not start.. took it back for a full refund."

"Windows 8 is horrible and annoying and NON-intuitive and illogical, makes it HARD to do things that are REAL.
This TOSHIBA however, is a good laptop for a low price. It is slightly slow on internet and doing things, but since my home computer is a "Super Gamer"-type computer, not really a fair comparison at this low price point."

"The first laptop didn't stay on when charging. Took it back and replaced it with the same model which lasted for about three hours and never came back on. Replaced it a third time and the same shut down features happened once again. Geek Squad could not repair this piece of junk either. Had enough of Toshiba now using HP and it works great."

"The only problem i have is learning the windows 8. I even was going to take it back but after playing with it and a few bad words, i finally got things my way and now its easier to find what i am looking for. "I love the lap top but it needs a faster processor to accommodate windows 8. On my XP the processor does not slow down or "max out" as often. Because of this I can do more on my XP. Don't get me wrong, windows 8 has more and easier programs.
Over all this is a great computer, but in general they need to be faster so they don't get bogged down."

"For the price paid, this is a pretty good laptop. However, there are some irritants that keep it from being a very good or excellent laptop. Namely the interaction between the mouse pad and Windows 8. The mouse pad is intermittent and, at times, sticks, i.e. doesn't move the cursor at all without a serious tap to get it moving again. Other times it activates the Win8 sidebar and again requires either a hard press or hard tap to get it moving in the preferred direction. Other noted things are tinny speakers that sound just horrible and a case that seems rather flimsy. Basically, if you're looking for a budget laptop that will run simple tasks, then this is the one."

"The battery is a piece of garbage, I just got this thing a month ago. After properly charging, thoroughly using, and re-charging, the battery gives me 30 to 45 minutes under a full charge. The Toshiba Satellite is reminiscent of the first "Blocky" style laptops and after just one month, I truly regret buying this hack of a laptop! Toshiba better step up their laptop design and function! Why should an ordinary person have to pay $3000 - $5000 to get a properly working laptop? Ughh!"

"I needed a basic, entry-level laptop and this model fills the bill. This is my first experience with Windows 8 and I'm not sure how to separate the Toshiba hardware from the MS Software.
One performance limitation I've experienced so far is that watching a DVD requires me to shut down about everything else on the computer which is disappointing even for an entry-level machine."

"I want to start out by saying this is a pretty good computer for someone starting out in Windows 8. The Windows 8 is a little confusing but, that has nothing to do with this computer. The ease of this computer is nice. It is quick as well as efficient. This meaning, if you are getting this computer for your child or for someone who does not need a fancy computer with all the bells and whistles then this computer is great for you!! It will take some getting use to! It didn't cost a bunch of money, which was one of the things I loved and it will do the job! Play around with the main screen and the apps, they are fun to explore. All you need to do is go to the app store, this is on the main screen and download any app that may be useful for you and the things you plan to do. Once you have downloaded some of the useful apps, you have a great computer at a great price right at your finger tips. This computer replaced a computer of mine that was infected with a virus and they are about the same in quality only thing different is the Windows 8 and the Vision AMD processor. Not really sure about the processor but, I did read it was one of he most powerful processors available, I had an intel dual processor in my last computer and the AMD seems to run fine. I hope this review was helpful to you. I would buy this computer again if I needed another one. Thanks."
