"This computer is great for what I use it for. I do not like Windows 8, so I downloaded the classic start from windows 7. The mouse seems a little touchy and will open stuff on it's on sometimes which gets annoying. I set the mouse to be slower, couldn't find a sensitivity setting, has helped some, but still does it occasionally. But great other than that. I mainly use my computer for the internet, paying bills, etc. and facebook."

"I researched laptops before buying the Toshiba because my expensive laptop didn't live past a year and a half, So far the Toshiba has surpassed my expectations...the start up is fast, the battery life is exceptional and it's easy to navigate. The keyboard and mousepad are comfortable to my hands and the large screen makes everything clear. If the durability pans out, I will be a Toshiba customer for a long time to come."

"I have a Toshiba that's about 5 years old and I love it...never a problem. When it came time to buy a second one, I looked at other brands but the price and reliability of the Toshiba made it a no-brainer. I can't tell you how much I hate Windows 8 though. Haven't found anything about 8 that I do like. That's not Toshiba's problem though. Only thing I thought they should have loaded on the machine was Skype; since it came with a web cam. Otherwise...all good."

"Overall, it seems to meet my needs. I expected the processing time to be quicker, but it hasn't reached the passing lane yet. Only noticeable problem I have had is that a couple to times it put itself to sleep in spite of the fact that I had it set to stay on much longer. Not sure if there is a problem or not at this time. I have to use it longer in order to give it a fair assessment."

"Right out of the box, the Toshiba laptop worked perfectly. I have had Toshiba laptops in the past and a Toshiba desktop, but tried a different laptop and had nothing but trouble. I am so happy to be back with a Toshiba laptop. As I became more proficient with Windows 8, I ordered a RAM upgrade. When I am ready to replace my primary machine, I will definitely replace it with a Toshiba."

"My opinion has mixed feelings. When I first purchase my computer. i never had a computer that didn't have a start menu. It was so hard for me to sleep or shut down my computer. "While this computer fit the immediate need to have an inexpensive laptop available in our home, it is slow to perform. Many times the Internet needs to restart in order to access a web address. Could be a Windows 8 issue?? Most times have to use old "desktop" mode versus what the laptop was intended for."

"I bought this laptop at a ridiculously low price only because I do computer tutoring and ran into my first Windows 8 client, and was embarrassingly clueless. Figured I had to learn the new OS, so got this Toshiba laptop to do just that. I. Find I love it and am turning to it more and more for other than learning. Good size, good features. The only thing I don't like is that I have to sign in each time I start up."

"The Toshiba laptop is okay... but I am disappointed in the program it came with Window's 8. It is a nightmare!! I could do no good with the computer and almost took it back until someone told me to load Google Crome, which made it much better to navigate in. I am not happy that with any little movement, the dang thing magnifies and I am constantly having to bring it back to normal. I love Toshiba's and the computer itself is okay.. the junk they put on it is a nightmare."

"I am very impressed with my Toshiba laptop. I had 2 Dell laptops in the past and this laptop tops them. The only complaint I have has nothing to do with Toshiba. I hate Windows 8. "I think that it is just too difficult to use, I have a hard time finding things that should be simple to find such as word pad and things such as picture cropping and printing etc. and every time i use the pad the toolbar pops up? what is that, it is so annoying and i do not know how to fix it, i would rather be able to just click on the start menu and go to whatever i would like to use as far as programs and this difficulty in use makes it very hard for me to be able to do anything on this computer for my business or just to print or type a document- as soon as possible i will be getting rid of this computer and going with something else....anything else actually. I really do not like this windows 8 at all- basically overall this computer is just not what i expected from toshiba and i really wish i had gone a different way."

"Computer takes 6 to 8 minutes on "cold start" boot; about 5-6 minutes out of hibernate. I have had a number of guru's, including Toshiba tech support try to speed it upo but to little avail. I am resigned to living with it since I have all my files and software on it now, but I'm not a happy camper because of this."

"I have only begun to explore what my laptop can do for me and I am looking forward to using it to it's capacity in the near future with my new business venture.
My only negative comments are how touchy it is! It takes nothing at all to cross from one screen to another then I have to switch back again. it happens all the time and it's annoying. Also, Windows Defender has gotten turned off somehow and I haven't been able to turn it back on or found a way to communicate to Toshiba via live chat to determine what the problem is. I am pretty savvy and I just cannot figure it out and the searches do not help me.
I love how light is is compared to my work laptop!"

"I cannot figure out how to get to documents, There are three or four steps to log off and shut down. It is hard to find how to get to the computer so that you can open a memory stick. Every thing is so cryptic, so hidden, that it is easier to go to my desk top. Need to get rid of windows eight or whatever that is."

"This is my second Toshiba laptop. I normally purchase Dell products, but was given a Toshiba laptop as a gift. Overall I find the features and quality of the product to be the best quality and value for the buck. I have also purchased a 64 inch screen Toshiba television and will have to say that it was purchased when I was pregnant with my 1st son and he is about to turn 7 years old. The television is still working, same quality picture and features no glitches and it has been moved around a lot. If you are looking for a good quality product in laptop or tv Toshiba is a good brand to try. There products just last with the best usage for your entire family."

"At first look, after boot up to open display... to a tablet? Where's the desktop to start doing your work?!!! The most confusing thing to do is to setup a Microsoft Account using your email ID and another password. My email got messed up so no one could send me email to the Satellite laptop?!! Tried to close and delete the MS account but could not do so. I had to create a new email ID and password which makes it hard for my contacts to send me anything. What a mess!!!!!"

I bought this for my wife to use but it does not have to ability to run the factory installed software let alone any add-on titles. "I bought my 1st Toshiba Satellite in 2009 and it still works great. I bought this one and returned 1 after 2 days when it crashed and the cursor disappeared and now the new one wiped out all of my programs. I don't know if it's Windows 8 or if Toshiba is having issues with the new line of Satellite Laptops"

"Going into this purchase, I knew it wouldn't be a powerhouse or workhorse, but I needed something for general use. The extra 10-key pad is convenient, the screen is wide and crisp, the case is a little on the flimsy side. The first few days had a learning curve to them, getting to know Windows 8. Then the first error screen hit. No big deal, but we hadn't downloaded and installed a bunch of stuff, so it was a little bit of a big deal... then the next several error screens hit, then the printer software we installed disappeared, and we couldn't connect to the wi-fi printer. Trying to remove and reinstall the software was impossible, since the computer keeps saying there's a user accessing the drivers... maybe a Microsoft issue. Anyway, typing on the keyboard is a challenge, with your wrists hanging off the end and braced against the edge. I'm used to having a wrist-rest-type area beyond the keys for more space and comfort. The speakers are horrible, with pathetic sound. Wish there were one or two more USB ports, and HDMI to be standard. Considering I don't use this other than daily surfing and some word processing, I can't complain much. For the price, this is a great computer."

"This is my first experience with a laptop. It works like I was
sure it would. I prefer using a mouse instead of the pad, but, all the other features are great.
For my application, Windows 8 is sometimes hard to navigate around, when using the desktop mode.
It does preform well for my needs."

"I'm limited on internet so the windows that keep scrolling I had to turn off. I also would like games that I don't have to be on the internet to play. I also used my hibernate on my last computer I owned. This one does not have that feature. I miss it dearly. The sleep feature does not turn my computer off completely like the hibernate does. I really like this computer."

"MS Office not included or installed on laptop. Laptop shuts off constantly and has to restart for no apparent reason. Ridiculously large icons on opening with links/items that are a waste of time. Photos showing up on page despite photos not being opened. No easy way to restart with cntrl/alt/del."

"The Toshiba Satellite 5340 laptop is a nice machine and with its new battery is great for portable use. I like being able to read my books on it with the large size type. About the only thing I DO NOT like about it is its number pad. It causes the keyboard to be offset from center. As a touch typist this drives me nutz. If I had realized it included a number pad, I would not have purchased it. Other than that, the laptop is nice and generally speaking it works fine. I would have preferred it with Windows 7 instead of Windows 8 but thats no longer an option these days. Windows 8 crashes much more often than 7 and can really be aggravating. It is what it is I guess."

"Internet Explorer as crashed several times. Tried to connect my laptop to Directv, it says that it is installed and then, It will say install Adobe and the installed. Tried several times and nothing. Can't get past GO..."

"The Laptop is great. It is a good value for the money. My only complaint is it has Widows 8 operating system on it.This is not a good match since the laptop doesn't have the touch screen. It make finding what you want much harder. Install Windows 7 and you would have a much better product."

"I don't know if it's the system or Windows 8 but I'm very frustrated at this time. It either freezes or kicks me out of the program I'm in. As a matter of fact it has kicked me out of this page 3 times."

"Bought this for my 11 year old son for Christmas. He loves it and I do too. My first Toshiba was a laptop in 2007, it is still going strong and used often by my four year old twins. I replaced it with another Toshiba laptop and added a newer 23" Toshiba touchscreen all in one desktop. I am so very sold on Toshiba. I have had great experiences and this little laptop is perfect for medium computing power in a durable, lightweight package with a fairly good battery. The only reason this doesn't get Fives across the board is because it is a medium computing package. If I was to compare to other products in the same computing range it would be a FIVE across the board."

"My desktop ran XP so skipping to windows 8 was not difficult. When I ran into trouble I went to the store where I bought it and the salesman pushed the right keys and it was OK again. Support from the sales folks has been great. I was born when computers were only main frames so I have lots of learning to keep up."

"I loved the laptop when I started using it. It came with a lot of awesome apps, and it was very easy to toggle between them. The recording quality of the microphone was great as well. The only thing that was a little subpar was the video quality. Unfortunately, about a week after I got it, I was robbed at gunpoint and my computer was stolen from my bookbag. My life > computer. However, I would definitely buy another one in the future."

"MS requires you to create multiple passwords just to use the computer. Then the (I'm writing this from a friends computer) computer is rendered useless because somehow (not us!) the password changed or is not valid so we can't even get past the deskstop startup screen. Haven't been able to figure out a reset yet.
Additionally the keyboard has that one piece flap feel, As if you're typing on one of those keyboard protectors that you use to keep the dust out when not in use. Feels very cheap."

"Performs very well. Good options. Windows 8 is ok. ( Windows 7 would have been better) Light weight and fast. And it comes with the AMD E1 processer. (AMD rocks for the price)."
