"I like my new laptop. It's smaller and lighter then my old one. The only drawback is the new windows 8. It was hard to get started, but now it's a breeze."

"Win8 Worst Software ever
Toshiba Media Player..... NOT WORKING.... told to download a 3rd party sofeware media player to make it work ( VLC )..... why even bother putting TMP on the computer if it is a failure
User and operations manual leaves a lot to be desired.
Hire someone that is not a software developer to write these documents so that the normal user can understand how to use this product"

"My last laptop was a satellite and it lasted 10 years. but was just getting to slow. prefect now for my daughter. never really had a problem with the old one, so decided to stay with one I liked."

"This is a great buy. It's inexpensive and I find the speed to be sufficient for what I need. I haven't had any issues and I've spent more money on other laptops and don't see any difference."

"However, there is one important feature that is missing at least for me a word processing program. It does not come with one pre-installed. I am used to the Office set up and could use Office365 but don't really like it all that well. I own several Office 2010 programs and will be using one of those to install on it if Microsoft allows it :( That is the ONE and only flaw with this laptop.
Another problem I had is that It did not come with any software like to reinstall windows or a users manual. I realize that this is intended to save paper however it would be nice if it at least came with the installation software. In case something happens to it."

"When purchasing a new laptop I was drawn to the Toshiba brand name because it's been a long standing company for many years. I have had Toshiba lap tops in the past and they were nice machines. This product is exactly what I needed and the price was reasonable. Its lightweight, slim design is easy to carry around my home to wherever I choose to use it. The battery life is great. It has a decent speaker that can be heard without using an external speaker system. (however I do use one, but if it's not handy it works just fine.) I like the product and I'm happy that I chose Toshiba once again."

"Finally switched from my very old Toshiba laptop (5+ years old) for this new windows 8 model. Still learning how to navigate the "mouse pad". The speakers on my older model were much louder. I love the light weight and the loaded programs."

"I work in an office, and ever time a new client walks in I meet them in a conference room. I use to carry my ipad to the my meetings, but since the screen was small, it was difficult for the clients to see the presentations. This Toshiba laptop has made my life easier, and I bought it for a great price. The only small issue I've had is with the battery life. All-in-all, a great price and a great computer."

"This is my second Toshiba laptop. My first one was damaged when it hit the floor, and I was unable to repair the operating system. I was in a hurry to purchase a replacement, so I got another Toshiba due to price and feature requirements."

"Can be a little slow at times, but I enjoy both the Metro view and Desktop. I actually downloaded an app to restore the Windows Start button which eliminated a lot of frustration."

"I see in the news that laptop sales are down nationally since Windows 8 came out. We've got an iPad, too, so we can see the point of it to some extent. But it's NOT a good fit for the ordinary laptop user and is a pain in the tail for us in many ways. Would have bought some other model without Win 8 if we'd found any easily available choice."

"This computer should not be used for anything except surfing the web. Running windows 8 and with 4 gb of ram, with an underpowered AMD processor makes it a real dog when you try to multi-task. The processor is not a true dual core processor, check the AMD web site.
If you turn off all the junk that windows 8 has running the system is usable for a lite weight work laptop. Make sure you have at least 8 gb of ram. When using the track pad you must make sure that you don't touch it in more than one place or the mouse will freeze for several seconds. The laptop might be a better system if you load windows 7 on it. Comes with a lot of junk apps that need to be removed."

"I chose Toshiba over HP; my last laptop was HP. I am disappointed there is no booklet included with the laptop. I have looked at topics online and it is a pain in the neck to try to find an answer. Windows 8 is not user friendly and is obnoxious. Wish I had continued with HP."

"I am having alot of trouble trying to setup and then work with the new windows. I haven the product back to the store where they tryied to set me up but once I got it home I immediately could not get on to emal. I have resorted to my old computer which also is a Toshiba.
The memory pad seems to be flighty and the screen seems to jump all over the page. Now I can't even get to email or anything that is internet. I have not tried to down load my problems yet. I need to understand the basics before going further"

"I am not totally satisfied with this laptop...It has a problem with shutting down...It tends to go into sleep mode instead of shutting all the way down...and sometimes it will change the font in things when I have not changed anything.."

"Love the laptop....HATE Windows 8. Microsoft, what were you thinking when you created this mess? I am considering having Windows 7 installed....yuck. What a stupid operating system.....all I do is click to the desktop page....and then work to make it make sense. Stupid system.....Toshiba, start offering Windows 7 instead!!!
The display on this laptop is just OK....you have to have just the right angle for proper viewing."

"I bought 2 of these computers, one for me and one for my wife. Hers seems to be OK, but mine has all sorts of problems. Probably the most annoying is key strikes that don't register on the screen, drifting to other apps/pages without command, and all sorts of annoying little things. I believe this computer is faulty (it won't even display the correct time) and should be replaced. It is a real pain to use, especially when the windows 8 unique features are involved!"

"We got this laptop to replace a desktop and another laptop and desktop we left. We were looking for a reasonably priced unit, just to get us by 'til we could get another desktop and laptop. This is actually the SECOND unit we had to get..the first one developed a problem with it's Wi-Fi receiver and had to be returned. Office Depot really made it easy, but in our opinion, it was a waste of our time, and a bit disappointing."

"This is the absolutely worst computer I've have ever owned. The only saving grace was it was cheap enough I will be able to replace it. Why did I keep it? I had to replace four major appliances and had an extremely limited budget, and the selection locally was very poor. The problems with this computer? It CONSTANTLY freezes. I was answering a survey that Toshiba sent and it locked up four times before I got that short survey finished. At this time I only use this computer for unimportant things, playing games on line and checking e-mail. I will never buy another Toshiba product"

"Don't buy this machine. First, the touchpad is way to sensitive. Sometimes I'm not touching the pad but the cursor moves down the page or increases text size. Next the hard drive went bad. It was very slow to load and then didnt work. I purchased my computer on Feb. 25th, it's now March 27th and the computer constantly makes noise like it's loading something but nothing happens."

"We are having a hard time getting used to Windows 8. Obviously, the operating system is the heart of any computer. We have had no issues with what we can identify as hardware issues but we cannot speak highly of Windows 8. The most serious issue we have had with windows 8 is that it deletes e-mails from the in-box after 2 weeks."

"The laptop performs up it's specs in all areas. My only complaint is with Windows 8, which has to be the most confusing and ill conceived program that I've encountered in 30+ years of computer usage and teaching. I keep hoping that someone will publish an APP to replace W-8 with an easier and more intuitive interface program like the old File Manager. This would e a good project for your technical group.
During the start and setup of my unit, a screen flashed by announcing the free download of Windows 8 For Dummies e-book, however I have been unable to locate it on the system. If that is available, please send me the link to download it as a Nook Book."

"I like the speed of this laptop BUT the touchpad is TERRIBLE!! Couldn't make that work ANY better?? It clicks on things by itself, it causes the Windows 8 charms to display randomly, and there are times when I can't get the pointer to move!!! The keypad is hard and not conducive to smooth typing either!! This is certainly not a GATEWAY!!!!"
