"Some of the complaints it the collection of reviews are valid such as a keyboard that appears fragile but overall it is a solid performer.
I think some performance problems relate to Windows 8. I just taught myself how to tweak Windows 8 and also deleted or unpinned most of the stuff on the start screen that I had no interest in and it began to perform more like Windows 7.
I was a Windows XP, service pack three user before this laptop. There is a learning curve to Widows 8 but fortunately like everything else with Microsoft one tends to keep the best and get rid of the rest.
The Mac computers are still the standard but at $2,000.00 cheaper this is a suitable alternative and I like Toshiba products."

"Recently purchased and I do enjoy using this laptop very much! Very behind on the new technology as I had been using XP for many years. It sure does beat the old Desktop in many ways! "Pros: Nice features with many apps; battery life is okay; performance is good, fast and have good amount of storage, I prefer more.
Con: keyboard is delicate; Office products are trial period; battery life should be longer
I like laptop although keyboard is a little flimsy but like that its not a hard loud keyboard, takes some time to get use to Windows 8 if you are an Windows XP user, but easy to learn. Some features should be more easily acessible without searching. Overall, good laptop and Price was reasonable."

"I received the laptop as a gift and am enjoying it. i am a senior citiizen and not that up to date with all the modern technology but am staying with it and learning. The windows eight is very amazing but sometimes confusing for some one like me but I still like to try and learn new things and this has a bit of a challange for me."

"I have been using this laptop for more than a month. I think it is really great minus the camera. I rated the overall as a 4 simply because the camera and webcam could be improved. Windows 8 takes some getting used to but after about a week of use I love it. I was able to download Office 7 which I already had at home and this was totally awesome being that the salesperson told me only Office 13 was compatible with Windows 8. I would definitely recommend to a friend. Great computer for the price."

"For the price, I could not beat the features (advanced processor, amount of RAM and hard drive capacity) of the C875-S7103. I've had an older satellite for more than 5 years. I expect this model to provide the same trouble-free service."

"Love that as soon as you open the laptop cover, it begins the start up. Very quick. One downside--speakers aren't that great. If you want better sound quality, plug in some external speakers."

"Generally, I am very happy with the system. It is a low-priced laptop so it would not be fair to compare it with much higher priced models. Having said that, it is very nice.
It seems sturdy enough, but it does not seem to be built to take a lot of abuse or heavy use. The speed and light weight make it a very nice personal system."

"Battery life is okay but it is new so will see as it ages. I do not like that the top has no catch to keep it down & seems a little week. Keyboard is great to type on but feels like it could break if you use to much pressure. I love the wide screen it works great. And as far as use it does all that it said it would with good speed & no lock ups.
Good laptop for the price I am not sorry I bought this one over the Asus I was considering."

"Spectacular laptop for the price. Couldn't be happier. The only odd feature is the placement of the button to open the cd drive, but nothing that I didn't get used to quickly. Overall great laptop for a great price!"

"The notebook is very quiet, the presence of the numeric keypad is a plus, especially for programming (with comments / * are impossible to do without the numeric keypad). The battery life is very good, the keyboard is comfortable to use.
The 20" display is also a plus.
In conclusion, it is an excellent notebook."

"Considering the price I paid for the laptops (I purchased two) I shouldn't complain. They are good laptops - the one I use is a little slower than I thought it would be, but it's not super slow either. I wish the outer part of the laptop seemed more sturdy, but it's not bad. Overall, I would recommend the laptop - depending on what kind of usage it was going to get. For me it's fine. I don't really travel with it and just use it at a desk or the dining room table. The picture quality is good on the screen too."

"This laptop is as average as it gets, I guess you get what you pay for. I have had many other computers from other companies and this one fails to impress by comparison. Unless you have a touch screen, Windows 8 is not very user friendly. Screens switch if you move your finger across the mouse too fast. More frustration than satisfaction."

"This laptop has great features for the price with just a few issues. It took a little while to get used to Windows 8. It would have been nice to have had the option to get Windows 7. The mouse pad sometimes misbehaves changing the font size when I don't intend to. A longer battery life would have also been preferable. The wireless capability works well. Overall, we're happy with the purchase."

"I use the C875 as an occasional desktop replacement, so the weight of the laptop & mediocre battery life are not an issue. I added 4 GB memory & it's plenty peppy enough for me. I guess you'd call me a "casual" user; no video editing or working with large files, etc."

"This laptop is an excellent investment." The keypad is soft along with a number pad as well. I'm enjoying the applications which are simple to use. The color schemes are appealing, along with a gentle mouse pad not having to use a peripheral mouse, even though that is a USB option. Downloading photos, and documents is a real pleasure! The only disappointment is the quality of speakers, nevertheless, the price point is fabulous!"

"I bought this toshiba because I loved my last toshiba laptop, and had bought one for our son with no issues either. This one is terrible. Touch pad jumps you from screen to screen. It's loaded with windows 8 which I have tried to stay open about, but I think is better suited for a tablet then a laptop. My cursor has frozen requiring me to seek out forums online of other users having same issues to find a fix. I should not have had all these issues in less then 30 days. I would not recommend this product, and 30 days later am shopping for a different laptop."

"I really dislike having to move the cursor all the way to the extreme lower left corner of the screen, practically off the screen, to get the start menu. That's particularly true after I've played a game of solitaire. I can't find a way to tell the machine I've finished playing unless I go to all that trouble."

I wear hearing aids and with few exceptions the audio is unreadable. I would think that one would be able to set the audio level and not have to change it for every Email."

"Maybe it's more the Windows 8 OS. I don't like the way it will change screens if your not extra careful where you swipe the touch pad. It's really frustrating when this happens and I'm in the middle of working on new websites or updating existing ones. The keyboard is also extremely flimsy."

"Looking for a laptop that won't break the bank to take on trips and locations. It's fast, good screen, nice keyboard, The latestes i3 is surprisingly fast. Not a huge fan of Win.8 though. Only negative I can find is speakers have lousy sound. I bought this for my wife but I'm thinking I should of bought one for myself. Plugged in my Wacom Intuos in and works perfect."

"I have ONLY been using Toshiba Laptops in my real estate business for 14 years after the HD died....my first one was a 17 model just died after 8 years of use..my 15 inch replacement only lasted five years before I dropped it..this is another 17 " and I continue to LOVE your product and have always recommend Toshiba Laptops to all the agents I work with..the ONLY thing I DO N O T like is WINDOWS 8 and miss my XP....Keep up the GOOD WORK...you provide an excellent laptop product....."

"The only reason I gave this laptop a 4/5 stars is because Windows 8 is confusing. This isn't the laptop's fault or even Toshiba's. Other than the OS, I love the way this laptop has lighted keypad and easy-to-use mousepad. One more downside is that the DVD doesn't read DVD-R very well."
