"it not even a year as yet and the battery is going bad, because the battery showed 100% and as i plug the charger out it showed 85% to by exact and i never get 5 hrs use out of the laptop ever in my months of using it not even 2hrs good."

"The only thing I would change with the Toshiba is the mouse the right and left click buttons are really noisy. But I had a Dell laptop one word Horrible, so I can live the the mouse."

"Not a bad little machine. Nothing fancy about it but it gets the job done. I'm an astrologer so I use it in my daily work and it's just fine for that. Reasonably lightweight but sturdy. Not much outstanding about it but worth the price."

"This is my second Satellite after having owned the first for five years. Toshiba makes a great product. Two areas on which they could improve this particular unit are: 1) speakers; and 2) battery life. However, I've added mini speakers to augment, and the battery life is definitely workable. In conclusion, I recently felt it necessary to return the battery as the indicator reflected "poor". Toshiba had a replacement to me in one (1) day!"

"I like this laptop in general. It is easy to use and fast. However the battery life on my unit is awful. The power indicator will show 1 hour and 25 minutes of life and 5 minutes later will show 50 minutes left. I am lucky if I get an hour to an hour and a half out of the battery and the computer shuts off on me. I am very disappointed in that aspect of my machine."

"Not head over heels, but not the worst either. For a simple computer for web surfing...it's fine. I'm used to a larger keyboard, have a hard time understanding the symbols for the 'FN" keys...and I'm one who is easily frustrated. But, I'm able to surf...so, overall, I'm happy."

"I bought this comp and weekly it would not get past the start up screen. I would have to unplug it, remove the battery, and wait hours to use it. Then I exchanged it for a replacement, and the same thing happened. Comp is unusable...unless you like an expensive paperweight."

"I got this computer on a great deal because I had to replace a laptop that I loved. It had a lot to stand up to, but so far it has lived up to my expectations. I had to turn the pinch-zoom off because it was too sensitive, but that would be my only complaint."

"We have found that after about a month of use, we are generally frustrated with how slow this computer seems to be. Not completely sure if it is totally the computers fault or our internet service, as we have gone round and round with them also. We like the small and lightweight size of it. Seems to have features that meet our needs. We give it an average rating."

"Great computer for a great price. I got exactly what I was looking for with this computer: a lot of hard drive space, fast, not too big, not too small, webcam..... I have made this computer my main home computer. So versatile. On the couch, at a desk and I even traveled with this computer. I enjoy using the computer on the couch. Not bulky, not huge...just right. Only issue is the battery life. I'm lucky if I get 2 1/2 hours. Manual states 5 hours+. Oh well, I just plug it in and I keep going."

"Speed and quality of materials are good. Speakers leave much to be desired. Battery life is just enough to by. The worst thing is the touch pad. So hard to control sometimes. Sometimes way to sensitive and sometimes won't respond to my finger at all. The buttons also meed some improvement. Very hard to depress and very "clicky"."

"I love the display, wish there were a couple more USB ports, and also that the battery life was longer. It took a little while to get used to the height of the keyboard - my viao is thinner, but other than that, no complaints. Not fond of the new windows picture program, having trouble figuring it out."

"I like the keyboard and the general configuration. I could use more USB ports but am making do with a hub. For a laptop it is a nice weight and the display is good.
BUT a computer is only as good as its OS, and the current version of Windows 7 stinks. In fact every version of Windows since XP stinks. I am really thinking I should have listened to my Mac using friends, or stuck with the Apple line back in the 90s when I had one."

"I bought this computer to repalce an Hewlett- packard That was only a year old. It had been to the warranty center 3 times. I previously had a Toshiba Satellite for five years with no issues. So far my Toshiba has performed great the price was reasonable and am considering getting another for my kids."

"I got this laptop for school, as I find myself returning after several years of being away. Overall, I love it; however, the battery life is absolutely horrible. Within 48 hours of getting the computer, the battery's health went from good to poor, and I don't leave it plugged in all the time. Too, this is the fourth of this same model that I've had in three months. The hard drive didn't work on the first one (but it had a great batter, go figure). The exchanged one had a battery worse than the one I have now, and the screen was a very bright white. In an attempt to exchange it, I stayed in the store to test the new one, and the battery on that one would not even charge. It took it ten minutes just to recognize that it was plugged in. Not good. So, we opened another one in the store (the one I'm using now) and it seemed well and good. Now, just a few months later, the battery is horrible, but the overall performance is great. I think if Toshiba would fix their battery problem, they'd have an excellent product. I would recommend this computer to others, but only because I believe no electronic device ever works 100% perfectly, even though a brand new one should."

"I use this laptop primarily for 3d art (blender, maya, etc) and Internet browsing such as facebook. In most applications that are not too processor hungry, the fan barely runs and the laptop stays nice and cool. If you use applications that are more demanding on the processor, then the fan runs faster and the laptop can get hot, but then again that's expected. Overall I like this laptop it runs pretty fast and good amount of memory. I wish it came with a better processor then a Pentium, but over all better then some at at it's price range. I've had an HP before and like other people who's had that model before, it's graphics card overheated and to replace it would mean to buy a $300 motherboard. i figured for a little bit more I could a laptop much better. Not to mention a few friends of mine have had HPs and all had problems with their's So after some research I found that Toshiba had great reviews on their decently priced models so I chose this one and I've loved it"

"I've had my Toshiba for a month now and it's the first Toshiba product I've had. So far I am highly impressed and certainly got a deal for the price I paid. I'm a very analytical person so did extensive research and shopping prior to my purchase. I chose Toshiba on the advice of many people, including those in the computer/tech industry. The only drawback is the sound/speakers. I would have expected better especially from Toshiba. However, I have my laptop connected to mini tower speakers so I have good sound. As I prior user of Dell, HP, Emachines, and IBM, I can say this Toshiba outperforms them all. Time will be the true test though. My last computer was a top of the line HP and lasted many years. If this Toshiba can hold out as long, I'd say this is absolutely the best. Keyboard is smooth and easy, processing is quiet and quick, and functionality is very user friendly."

"I'm currently on my 4th Satellite L645-S4102 laptop in six weeks, and I'm a bit leery about keeping it. I love the size and the features, but I have major concerns. The first one I bought back in the middle of January and a few weeks later realized that the disk drive wasn't recognizing it had a CD or DVD in it, so I returned it. Got a new one that had a major whiteness of the screen which washed out the colors. I also realized that the battery health was "Fair" and I was getting less than 2 hours on a full charge, when on the first one, I got about 4. I returned it. While at the store, we looked at the new one before I took it home, and the battery on it wouldn't even charge, so we got yet another one off the shelf which I am currently using. The first night, the batter was good, but 2 days later, it's already gone down to fair. I'm wondering if Toshiba's have some major battery issues, and I am leery of keeping this one and getting a whole different brand. I really love everything about this one...except the battery. My fear is the battery will go completely bad once my return grace period is over. Frustrating...especially when overall, I love the computer."

"i purchased the laptop as a backup for my main computer system. i own a small retial boutique and use it to work at home or at business venues.
laptop works well. THE BATTERY LIFE IS HORRIBLE.

"Last year I purchased a Gateway laptop and within a year it had to have two hard drives replaced. Extremely disappointed, I purchased this Toshiba. I LOVE this computer in every way. The size was something I was not sure about since I was use to a larger screen but the 14" is perfect. The feel of the keys is excellent, something I hated on the Gateway.
Would highly recommend this computer to anyone."

"I really cannot compare this laptop to any other make as I've always relied on Toshiba, however I have found them to be very reliable and though I'm having a few problems getting a handle in Windows 7, I know that this is not a fault of the L645. Being an elderly gentleman I am sometimes quite set in my ways . . . I prefer Outlook Express to Windows Mail, don't know why but I just do not feel comfortable with it. I do find the audio speakers very soft, have to use headphones while using Skype, if this is a complaint, that's my one and only."

"I purchased this laptop for work. I purposely selected a 14" screen so that I could use it on a plane and not have to lug a larger one around. I'm delighted with the keyboard, screen resolution and I haven't experienced a single issue with any software that I use. I think my satisfaction is due in large part to the combination of the Toshiba quality, Windows 7, generous memory (4GB) and the egronomics Toshiba has built into the product. The only thing I haven't been pleased with is the quality of the internal speakers - but it's not an important thing with me."

I am impressed with the speed and all features. It stays quite cool (temperature) even after long periods of use.
