"This Satellite is very nice to type on, has a smooth touchpad and is setup nice with the additional Toshiba software, not too much. Chrome comes already included which is a nice addition as well. Very good hard drive space and functionality overall. Only thing missing is an HDMI output. A good value."

"I found the Toshiba laptop to be a great buy for the amount spent. Took me a little while to get use to the mouse pad being a little rougher to the touch, but once you have used it for a while it is great.
My daughter has an earlier version that she got for Christmas 2 Christmases ago and she is still using it and loves it."

"My laptop will not charge. I have never dropped it or done anything destructive to it. All of a sudden it stopped charging. It has to be in a certain position to be able to charge but lately its isn't charging at all. I love the laptop and could't image myself with any other one but i have no clue why it will not charge."

"Instead of bombarding the new owner of the laptop with volumes of advertising to buy additional this and that as a new laptop owner.
Toshiba should conduct usability exercises to make the basic installation and use easier. Win 7 drivers and OS compatibility with current programs is still chaos and that reflects on the laptop."

"I have always had desk top. My kids talked me into getting a laptop when my computer died. I have it hooked up to wireless keyboard, mouse and my monitor. I do not like using the finger to move curser, I also don't like the small board. Right now I would have to say I wish had bought another desktop. Hopefully, in another couple months I will feel differently."

"When it came time to upgrade my computer I was none too thrilled. Not only would I have to get used to a new wide screen, but I was also going to have to learn Windows 7. I bought 2 other brand computers and took them back within the trial period for various reasons, one of which being the inability to use my favorite Kodak software with them. I finally found my new Toshiba and brought it home to try. The quality of the computer itself, as well as it's components is very good! And even though a technician had told me I was alwys going to have a problem using my Kodak, I decided to try it on my Toshiba, and it actually DOES work!! Thank You Toshiba for building quality, dependable and user friendly hardware!!"

"After doing a lot of comparison shopping, I chose the L655-S5150 - it had the most features for the money. Toshiba's hard-shell "Helios" finish is the most amazing thing I've ever seen. It seems virtually impossible to leave fingerprints on it, unless peanut butter & jelly is involved.
Despite reading some complaints about fan noise, my laptop is absolutely silent. There is the faintest whisper of air when you first turn it on, but it lasts about 2 seconds. I've had about 9-10 tabs open at one time, and experience no slowdown at all.
My only disappointment was that the key surface is hard plastic. My first Toshiba, "permanently borrowed" by my husband, had a softer touch to the key surface.
All-in-all, this fits my home computing needs perfectly, and I'm loving the numerical keypad. And as with any laptop, I highly recommend getting a wireless mouse."

"I got the laptop to complete some work needed on location. After some times of opening the program to get past the sign - ups, log - ins, and registration; I was able to open the computer with relative certainty that what I wanted to do was the only thing I would do.
I never liked the pad for navigating through the computer screens, but it got better. Now I have the settings the way I want, and it works."

"I have only worked with Dells in my job so I was a bit unfamiliar with Toshiba's button layout. I still have yet to find how to increase and decrease volume with the keyboard button rather than go to the speaker icon on the desktop. I also don't know why my screen minimizes when I hover over some keys. I think these are all things I will get used to eventually. The best reason for me to purchase this laptop was the number keypad on the keyboard. I do grade entries with an on-line program and need to use the keyboard extensively. I also need to use character codes too so this is a great tool for me rather than having to plug in the USB keyboard on my other laptop. Overall - I really like the laptop. I haven't figured out how to use all of the tools just yet but I'm working on it."

"15 days out of the box the hard drive failed. Not wanting to be with out computer I replace at my own cost.
It also ran slow when new do to all the junk running. When I replaced the hard drive I let out most of the junk and it runs well nw."

"This is everything we need in a laptop for a very reasonable price. It is attractive, quick and nicely laid out. One small issue, as silly as it sounds, is the touch pad offset relative to the screen. I understand that it is centered with the keyboard, but for me centered with the display would be more comfortable. Overall, however, we are very satisfied."

"I spent months looking at laptops and upon finding this particular Toshiba was instantly drawn to it even though the price was on the high end of the range I was looking at.
The screen size and picture quality is amazing, the keyboard is spread out with large keys that are welcome since I love to write, and the computer's speed is just WOW.
I only ranked Performance at 4 out of 5 because the mouse on rare occasions seems to stick, I don't know if it is an issue with the machine or my big thumbs."

"I was new at buying laptop's as i was always provided mine through work. When I lost my job I needed to have a household lap top. I found I was actually able to do many things on my own. "My family has never really used laptops, always desktop. I started looking at laptops to use for school and well for fun. I had heard that Toshiba was one of the best kinds to get. Many of my friends told me to get a Dell, but many people have complained to me about them. A family friend, who also works as tech support guy recommended a Toshiba. So i started looking and found some i liked. Aroudnt he time i was looking a family memeber got one and loved it, they let me try it and i admittedly fell in love with it. Some times my Wireless connection gets spotted but otherwise it is a great computer. The keyboard and touchpad are easy to use. I love it!"

"The overall performance is great, easy to use, light weight, and the display is sharp and clear. Wish the sound was better, but most laptops I have looked at all have low sound quality. As a technician, this laptop seems easy to work on, Hard drive is accessible, where other laptops have to be pulled about to access the hard drive. So far I am impressed."

"This unit has performed well for me so far. Battery life is about double of my last unit. The new windows software is a great improvement over Vista.
This unit also has a numeric pad which is a great improvement for my excel spreadsheet work.
I as I have been in the passed am disapointed with Norton securities as they continue to be a pest about extending the use. Pops up whenever I start the machine. (can not shut this off)"

"I orginally purchased the S6150 because of the price and the integrated number pad, when I got it the first day the number pad wasn't working and the touch pad wouldn't work. I called Toshiba and they said they could get it fixed, that it was a hardware problem - I told them no thanks I would rather upgrade. I have not had a problem my S6170 and am very happy with it."

"We had never tried a laptop because we had a very good desktop computer, when we traveled it was only for short periods of time. In the past year we have started to get out of the home for longer periods and found we needed to be able to keep in touch while on the go. Last month we achieved that goal and the Toshiba fits the bill. Fast, ease of use and so many more things that are beyond our comprhension of how and all that is what makes us believers about the mobility of this laptop. We will be learning for some time to come, but this computer will make the task easy because it's built in. Thanks for a great product."

"loved the comp. the first day, but on the second day comp. froze up. not happy. took it back to the store and was told that all of the pictures and music that i had just transfered over were wiped out. really not happy! comp had to be reset to factory setting. still not working properly."

"I am, overall. satisfied with my laptop. I think the price is good for this model. My only complaint so far, is with the external speakers and the camera. The volume on the speakers is much too low even at full volume. It is fine with earphones, I am not pleased with the web cam. I Skype a lot and and our picture is dull and very grainy compare to the picture we receive from our friends and family. I have tried adjusting the picture quality with little success. "okay i read a few reviews and i agree with most of them. this is a great laptop if youre not into crazy gaming or whatever.
THE SCROLL issue can be sort of resolved, what you need to do is go to the hidden icons on the bottom right hand side of your taskbar then right click on the synaptics pointing device and click on pointing device properties. go under device settings and then click on settings and what i did is that i just completely removed One Finger Scrolling under the scrolling options and by doing so my experience with my toshiba has enhanced x2.
one thing that you cant improve though is the poor quality of the speakers. they sound like garbage.
it is AWESOME for its price though."

I've had one for 5 or 6 years and in spite of three cross country trips and all kinds of abuse it's still going strong. (I've actually worn the letters off three of the keys!) "I've had this laptop for alittle over a month now and I am pleased with most of the functions of this laptop. I bought it strictly for graduate "B" school. The battery life is short and some of the programs I needed to download for my program wouldn't allow me to access the full version due to some error on my laptop's end. I am able to multitask and the speed is fairly decent. I am a MAC user always and converting to this laptop PC is a learning opportunity."

"My other laptop is an HP with Windows Vista, Don't much care for Vista or the HP. Toshiba on the other hand very nice PC it's quick, display is nice and Windows 7 is much nicer! It does what I need it to do."

"I have been usingToshiba computers for about 5 years. This is the first laptop i have received that the space bar only works on one side. I usually hit the space bar with my right thumb and it doesn't work on that side so I have to hit it in the middle or on the left."

"Bought this lap top because the price was right. Don't need alot of features considering I only wanted it for the conveinence to check my emails and do my banking without sitting at my desktop. Lap top is pretty heavy though so not easy to carry around but it does run nicely and I like the number features on the side as well. Battery life is terrible. I always have to recharge it or I use it while it's charging but again it's not for work or anything so it doesn't matter."

"This PC works exactly as advertised and was very easy to set up. I am happy with all of the features and performance. Only one complaint: the Synaptic pad is too far to the left. I keep hitting autoscroll on the right side of the pad. No way to turn off autoscroll, It's a great location for left handers! Overall, a good buy."

"Overall, I have been very satisfied with my new laptop. It works well and has performed better than expected. The only issue had is getting used to the keypad which includes the 10 key pad section which I knew when purchased. The screen is a nice size, it is light, and looks good. Many others I looked at looked cheap due to the textured covers, but that is a personal preference."

"Crisp, lightweight, solid performing. Only negatives are the placement of ports for peripheral items (especially USB hub since there are only two USB ports) because cables become in the way and obtrusive. I would now spend a little extra money for a different model."

"Fast and reliable machine. Does not feel as though it is built for transport; however, my purchase was for a desktop replacement so it is not an issue for me. Even though the touch pad is centered on the qwerty keyboard, it is not intuitive. It should have been centered on the entire keyboard to be user friendly. The speakers are poor quality. My last notebook was a Dell. Nothing special, but at least the speakers did not sound like a cheap AM radio.
Again, it is fast with a good scren, nice keyboard, and adequate battery life. The sound quality is the worse attribute."

"The design of the laptop is sleek. The keyboard is polished and smooth requiring adjustment for typing. The unit has only two USB ports and no exterior volume control. Viewing the screen in bright light is difficult due to the muted contrast of colors on the screen."

"While my Toshiba Laptop L655-S5150 meets basic computer & email needs it is not a top or even middle quality product. I expected more from this product than I received....The battery life is short at about 4 hours brand new. The speaker quality & levels are exceedingly low. Picture quality is lower than I expected also. There were ABSOLUTELY NO extras to this computer at all! No backlite keyboard, No raised keys, The AC adapter is SERIOUSLY horrible. Lego has better connection between its blocks than a Toshibas adapter to its computer. This computer provides basic gaming needs nothing for even the middle level game hound. Overall this computer is good for Elementary, Junior High & High School Students for College students & beyond I would not recommend it!"

"It's great to have a laptop with a built-in 10 key and this model has the added bonus of being very light and has a really good battery life!! One thing, however, to be aware of with this particular model is that the USB ports are positioned rather awkwardly on the unit so that cables can really get in the way (a nuisance really). "I purchased this laptop because my other Toshiba laptop was 6 years old and was on Windows XP and I wanted to experience Windows 7. I love the laptop. It is fast, friendly and very efficient. It set up in no time and found all my wireless components with no issues. My only complaint is the internal speakers are terrible. All sounds are very tinny. My previous Toshiba had great speakers. I watch movies, skype, and listen to itunes and it all sounds horrible. But I will live with that in order to have everything else and to have gotten it for a wonderful price. Good job again, Toshiba.
I would highly recommend this laptop to anyone from a novice to someone wanting a personal laptop for home or work. I don't know how it is for heavy duty gaming as that is not something I do."

"Had problems within first two weeks with the laptop shutting down for no reason and could not get it to restart. Called tech support and got it fixed. It is working fine now. The only other problem has been the mouse seems awkward. Has been hard to use and very sensitive."

"This laptop is all around great. For it's price it is a great deal! I bought it mainly for college, but all around it is a great product. The downside is it's battery life, which is less than three hours, and it gets fingerprints on it easily, but other than that I have had no problems. It is good for watching movies, gaming, and it runs extremely fast. This laptop is not disappointing."

"For the money, it exceeds it's price. It runs cool, very fast opening apps. Dual core cpu p6200 used to be top of the line however it's now the I series and sandy bridge technology I 5. Unless you're gaming, this will do almost anything you need. Battery is great"
