"I found this to be a great value with impressive features and performance. It was purchased to replace an aging desktop and has just about everything I could ask for in a PC. Yes, it has bloatware. It only takes a few minutes to remove. Intermittent wireless? Solved by downloading updated drivers. I feel battery life is commendable for such a large screen, but I also think that this latop is too large and fragile for business travel or students. I use it around the house and it fits the bill perfectly.
I do not do any complex computing at home. No voluminous spreadsheet calculations, video editing, gaming, or other resource intensive stuff. As such, the performance for my typical use exceeds my expectations. It is hampered more by my dexterity and some awkward button placement.
The only glaring negative I would point to is the frame for the screen. It is not very sturdy. Unlike laptops I've had for work, you can not pick this up by a corner and lug it around short distances (I wouldn't even try it). I easily believe the reviews where people have broken their screens.
My only other issue is with the HDMI port. I can't, for the life of me, figure out how to get audio to work with my HDTV. I have yet to find a source that will enable this feature.
All in all, I feel that an average user would be very pleased with this laptop. It also gave me the occasion to try Open Office and Thunderbird. I'm extremely happy with both."

"I love the features of this laptop and got it at a fair price, but have experienced ongoing problems since I bought it which have been really frustrating. As it is still under warranty I plan to seek technical service from Toshiba or a replacement. The problems are intermittent and involve failure to start up or shut down, and it locks up while I am working or trying to write and send email. I also have problems with the blu-ray player working consistently. I think I may have gotten a lemon."

"It's the 2nd Toshiba I've bought, the first was so good. This one's battery life is a bit shorter. Love the huge screen and fast processor! Had to go back to factory settings b/c windows installer got corrupted, grr :/"

"My only wish is that there were a mute button that I could get to in a hurry. Oh, and also, if I could figure out how to work the PRTSC button that would be good. I could do a screen capture easily in my last Toshiba. Oh - and I'm wondering why I lose Internet when I unplug the power cord."

"I have been shopping for a long time for a laptop that could multitask as much as I do. I needed a machine that could stand up to long papers, homework assignments, work projects, movie watching, and gaming. I am happy to say I have found that machine! The Toshiba laptop is amazing. I was told I wouldn't be able to play a good deal of my old school games on it such as C&C, but I was able to download them onto this computer and play them with no problems!"

"At first it performed well. took some getting used to its features. I had to change the default settings for the touchpad, it was a bit too sensitive for me, now its fine. It also started to freeze up and I had to force a restart. After uninstalling the much added bloatware, all the freezing stopped immediately for me. that made me very happy! I am satisfied with my Toshiba and I believe we will be friends for years to come."

"Second Toshiba computer I've had. The first is four years old and haven't had any troubles with it, that's why a purchased another one, hopefully this one will last as long. The only problem was the wireless driver had to be reinstalled because it keep losing internet connection, so far so good. Nice feathers like blue ray player, number pad on the side and 17.3 inch screen."

"Hi, I love this computer except for the part when you are using the machine and it goes into resting stage, it won't let you go back to where you were. INSTEAD, it locks up with the flashing curser. There is no way to get out of this siuation except for disconnect power plug and letting the battery where down. Then you can finally try again. Most time it gives you the message that windows did not shut down correctly. It asks you to select a startup option. This can be a real big hassle. What is the problem. Can you help me fix this."

"Nice 17-inch screen, decent keyboard, although the "space" bar is a bit small. Keyboard offers decent feedback, with a separate numeric keypad. Not much bloatware loaded on it. Screen is sharp, albeit a bit reflective. Processor is good, but not terribly spunky. Only real complaint is the plastic, both outside and inside, displays fingerprints like no tomorrow!"

"I received this laptop as a gift about 3 weeks ago. I am still getting acquainted with the ins and outs, as I am elderly, and my normal use is for Email and looking things up on Google. However, I find it easy to use, keys easy to read, and I love the 17.3" screen. I am very satisfied with the computer as a whole. It accepts the programs I add with no problem. I haven't used the battery yet, keep it plugged into power."

"I've been a Toshiba user for years and loved, LOVED my last two toshiba computers, recommended them to everyone. After our computers were stolen we decided to replace them with Toshibas. We bought two different toshiba models and were extremely disappointed. The battery life is seriously lacking, speakers are awful, like Toshiba found some small speakers in the back of their warehouse from the 80's. I had to buy a speaker bar, kind of sad since a laptop should be self contained. Our last models had fantastic sound.One of them was having serious mechanical issues (freezing up and refusing to boot) and had to be returned.
I really wish I done my research better, we definately would not have purchased these two models or Toshiba. They went from an A computer to a solid C-"

"I've only had it for 28 days so I have not been able to try all the functions and features. But so far, it works great. Get much higher speed connection to our wireless router... 4 bars vs 2 with my old HP laptop. Nice clear screen... good speakers... also like MyToshiba. I'm not a power user of big gamer, just email, Internet, Excel and a few other office programs. Would definitelly recommend it to friends... my wife will likely buy same model."

"I haven't had any problems with this getting hot, it fast and i keep on average 3 windows open at all times ans toggle between them. I love everything about this laptop especially the face reg. software. By all means I'm not a computer newbie, but i know enough about them. This is a great buy. Battery life is at 3.26 hours but given the features and the size, I cant complain. Charges completely very fast. This is a great computer for the price"

"This laptop was so frustratingly slow. It took forever to open a simple word or excel document. When opening a browser tab it would often freeze and I would actually have to force a restart of windows. Having more than one of ANY window open caused the computer to lag so much it was unusable. Simply switching windows would cause the entire system to lock up for up to 10 minutes. I only had this unit for less than a month. I am not proud of this at all but last night, I actually punched the laptop repeatedly. The unit is no longer working, not that it was funtional before. I had problems with this laptop literlaly from the moment I opened the box until last night when I finally lost my temper and put my fist through it. Again I am not proud of that fact but it's a fact no less. This laptop was unusable from day one. I should have counted to 10 and took it back to the store for a refund."
