"I brought this to replace a previous Toshiba laptop I owned. I like how it's made, and it's ease of start-up and performace. I like too, how the keys on the keyboard are easliy read,versus my wife's where it is hard to read the numbers, letters and symbols on the keyboad. Do hook this one up to a HDTV...it works great with an HDMI cable !"

"So far so good. I am still trying to figure out the bells and whistles on this thing. I am really pleased. This is my second laptop (first being a Vaio). I think that the internet provider has a lot to do with it as well. I have only had dial-up until this past Dec. What a difference. I like this one because it is smaller. I did want to buy one with the number keys off to the side but they were sold out. I have been trying to figure out if I can take video of people just sitting in a room instead of someone just sitting in front of the computer. (two-way camera?)"

"This is a decent laptop for the money. The battery life is good, screen resolution great - overall a nice machine. However, there is one big problem - the mouse click buttons are way too difficult to click and to click and hold when copying and pasting, etc. For this reason alone, I would not recommend this laptop. It is a serious flaw and impedes ease of use for almost all functions."

"Don't have time to say much, but I bought this laptop to replace an almost identical one that I lost. I think that says a lot. Rather than go out and spend a lot of time looking at other laptops (I did look at other laptops), I liked the Satellite series so much that I decided to buy another one if I found it at a good price. Well, I did, and I'm writing this review on the L745-S4210.
By the way, there are many reasons that i like this laptop, but there are two things that really distinguish this laptop from other ones that I've owned. First, the keyboard feels amazing. Pressing the keys is really easy on my hands, and the feedback is great. Second, the heat vent for this laptop is on the side. Therefore, the laptop does not heat up my lap and does not overheat when used for an extended period of time. It does not require an external cooling fan."

"Windows doesn't load the same, for instance I use a docking station and my monitor settings occassional is not the same when I start up again. Internet seems erratic. On occassion I have to keep re-booting until I get my original settings when last shut down."

"Bought laptop b/c old dell was getting too heavy and cumbersome for travel. This laptop is small and lightweight but keyboard is good sized. Battery life seems to be very good. Have had no problems, no complaints. Had good ratings in consumer reports which is one main reason we chose Toshiba Satellite."

"I love this little machine except for the performance of the keyboard. I am a fast touch typist with a very even touch. I find that double letters (or double spaces, backspaces, etc.) often do not register despite setting the repeat speed to max. This is pretty annoying, and a symptom I have never experienced with any other laptop."

"Was debating on whether to get this Toshiba or a similar Sony Vaio coz both were priced almost the same.. but happy to have made this decision! Loved the lightweight and stunning design, very speedy setup, boots very fast! very bright and nice display, brilliant touchpad and keyboard keys very soft and comfortable... most of all, loved the sound!! dolby surround gives it a very crisp and clear voice clarity, and my songs haven't sounded better! Also very handy 3 USB ports.. and the HDMI cable is a blessing! Love it!! I would personally recommend it to anyone who is looking for value for money in the 14" category! Superb!"

"Something is wrong with this laptop, if it's left on and goes into sleep mode when you turn it back on it shuts down and turns back on on safe mode, it keeps on trying to fix something on the system and it keeps saying it can't fix it!! we just had it for a month, it is my daughter's laptop."

"It's not anything super special. If you're looking for something to use to browse the internet and write papers for school then it's perfect. That's why I got it, I wasn't looking for anything extravagant. And the price is perfect for that. The speakers are kind of bad, and video quality isn't the best. Overall I'm happy with it."

"I purchased a similar model for my daughter and was very impressed with hers. So, when my old laptop died, I went with Toshiba. It does everything I expected and I was extremely surprised by how cool it runs. Their thermal management system is amazing. I expect the components to last a long time, since the heat won't be shortening their life. The fan rarely runs and the bottom of the unit is actually cool. No hotspots anywhere."

"I am a certified computer tech. I have repaired many laptops in the past so I've had a chance to work on some of the real powerhouses out there. For the average Joe that doesn't use a laptop for gaming, this is a good machine. Too man people buy computers that could almost run the space shuttle, to send emails! "After not being able to install a few programs I decided to install XP. I made the recovery DVD and did the XP install but could not find the drivers. I then tried to re-install Windows 7 and it would get part way thought the install from the DVD and ask for 2nd disk! There is no second disk! So it failed. I then tried to install from Hard drive partition instead of DVD and it said exactly the same thing and failed!!! Now I have no operating system!! I am taking it back to the store."

"This is a great laptop. For the price the specs are right. At 14" this is a highly portable laptop. My biggest complaint is the number of times the computer has stopped functioning. The laptop even crashed during setup and a month in I'm still having problems. For example a month in half the keyboard suddenly crashing and requiring a reboot. These are problems that shouldn't be present in a new laptop. I also miss having external volume controls. If the laptop continues to keep working I'll be very happy with the computer but for now I'm nervous."

I was disapointed in the tutorial videos, largely because the speakers are so tiny that I couldn't hear what was being said. This has made learning the operations slower and more difficult."

"Pros:This laptop is fast, lightweight, has a huge hd capacity, huge memory, good processor, has big keys and responsive trackpad. For the price, you would not regret getting this one. "For when I had it, it was a very powerful machine. I don't do much gaming outside of insignificant flash games, but for streaming videos and such it's very good. More than enough power for any computer newbie. If you dislike widescreen laptops or laptops with numerical keypads, however, you should stay away. My only personal complaint is the lack of colors this model is available in, but c'est la vie."

"I like that this is small and light. the battery lasts a few hours, which is nice. The keyboard is a bit touchy though. When I type, it will skip letters or the backspace needs to be tapped more than once. Nothing consistent. Not the same keys all the time either. And sometimes when my wrists brush on either side of the keyboard, things jump around on the screen. Only had it a month. The drivers are up to date. And I wipe it with a dust cloth often. If you are a serious typist ( . . . you use the home row), you will find this as annoying as I do."

"The laptop is really good for the price you get it. It has the basic features any non-professional user. It's small and really compact. It is light, but it could be lighter, but that's not my main problem with it. The main thing that drives me insane sometimes is the non-stop zooming in and out by mistake I do with my fingers when I'm trying to move the mouse around with the touch pad. Besides that, I am really happy with that laptop, the display and battery life are perfect and I will definitely recommend this laptop to anyone who needs one for internet browsing, music, watching movies and even using Photoshop and other programs that may be a bit heavier. It is definitely worth the price."

"I have avoided laptops for years - this is MY first one. Everyone in the family has one but me! "This laptop has very good performance for the price. My previous laptop had a 9 cell battery, so I'm missing the extended battery life. I would like the audio volume and mute keys to be better labled. I have trouble seeing the faint markings. I think the plastic top case should be a little heavier, this one is so flexible it gives the impression of low quality."

"I am disappointed in this product. The speakers are a problem and below average in quality, in every way. They cannot be turned up high enough to properly hear many videos, advertisments, music, etc. The screen constantly needs to be adjusted due to it zooming in and out on its own? And, it is much heavier than it should be for a portable laptop. The visusal is fair, could be clearer, indeed. Disappointed and may take it back to the store."

"Bought this model and got it home, my husband realized it had some bad pixels. We had to return it and do another setup. Then, I started to use it and realized there is no port for my small camera card. Case is cheap, speakers are awful, not impressed, plan to take it back."
