"I bcannot compare this laptop with any others because thids my first one Everyfthing is fantastic with it except for one thing: As a pretty good typist I am having a hard time getting used to the flat keys as you can tell by bmyspelling mistqakes inthis reviwew. "The laptop works really well, fast, stable, and easy to navigate/use as I came from an XP environment to Windows 7. I like it, although I'm not a big fan of the 10key numeric pad. My only "complaint" is that it is 6-9 months out of manufacture and required in the neighborhood of 100 updates."

"This is my second Toshiba and I couldn't be happier I chose this model. However, I was a bit baffled by the fact that it said 620 gigs but only 557 gigs were available. I called customer service and they explained that the other 60 gigs were on a hidden partition.
That notwithstanding I couldn't be happier with my purchase."

"I've had the my laptop for about a month. I use for all my hobbies and side business. Quick response time in transferring files, internet usage. Nice graphic speed. Only complaint would be battery life, I get about 3 hours using word processor. If I use the internet, I get a max of 2 hours."

"Had bought the previous model last year and fried it by accident. So we bought a new one this year. I LOVE this better than the 17" one I got last year. It's faster, sleeker, weighs less so easier to lug around. The HD quality for movies is UNREAL. Excellent value."

"Nice, easy to use laptop. I use it mostly for web browsing and playing games. Wish it came with at least some rudimentary office products (word, spread sheet, etc.) rather than prompting me to buy them on line.
Ditto with the games programs. Should include only those programs that remain permanently free -- not an annoying collection of "trials" that then have to be bought."

"I like everything about this laptop except one thing. The Toshiba Book Place that comes with the laptop is not user friendly. I am unable to download the update (and I've tried at least 10 times in the last few weeks) and it has limited free books. Every time I found a book I wanted to download, it said it was not available, I finally gave up. Other wise, I'm really enjoying my laptop."

"I am not to happy with the screen appearence. Need more contrast, and have not been able to change that. Also I do not need to see Toshiba on screen constantly or all the ads. Some of my issues are due to my previous experience of many years and not haveing the time to change some of these issues as time goes on maybe I will get the appearence changed."

"I had a Acer netbook which I love (size,fit,finish) running Win7 which went on fritz, so hhad to replace. Wanted a larger screen easier on eyes and for updating my webpage ect.
Wanted a low price as I was still trying to fix netbook and felt I wouldn't want to use large size all the time. Initially bought Toshiba c series, pixel dead and had to return L series on sale so I got this one. Performance, screen clarity and battery life great, kinda like having my desktop on a laptop.
I do lots of email, photo prossessing, web surfing, word processing.
way sufficient for all those things and more.
Like that you get win7 home, not starter.
I don't do gaming and heavy video editing. Processor is Sandy bridge, like icore but some features disabled so very good computer for the price.
Toshiba has an air of quality about them and good support."

"Overall this laptop is a great purchase. I've had no problems with it at all although it's only been a month and it hasn't been used much yet. Good laptop for the price. It does seem a bit slower than expected and I wish it had more USB connections (it only has 3). But, again, for the price I can't complain."

"I use mine for banking, e-mail, Facebook, Skype, and letter writing. Not too much downloading or video viewing, so it works fine for me.
The only problem I have is that I can't get the volume to go high enough. I would not watch a movie on this because I probably couldn't hear it well enough.
Great laptop for the money. It has a number keypad which I use a lot. The keys are a bit tight but they are OK for my small fingers.

"I am very happy with the ease of use in setting up my first laptop. I followed the easy setup instructions. Also, connecting my new linksys router, hp wireless printer, wireless logitech mouse and security software download were all up and running easier than I would have imagined that I could do on my own. I had one small problem. After I made my recovery flash drive at first my my disc drive didn't want to read the hp printer disc to load the software. I think I needed to shutdown the computer first and then turn it back on. Anyway the disc drive worked fine after I did that. I wanted to put in a review because I appreciate reading other peoples reviews before I buy a product. I am happy with the laptop performance for my personal use (internet, MSOffice documents, shopping etc). I don't know how long the battery life is yet so I can't comment on that. You had to make a selection for the review."

"the first impressive thing about this laptop is the quietness, i can't even tell when it's on or off. comparing to my hp witch is making a horrible noise, and the fan broke in one year. the other good thing is the image quality and the easy to tape keyboard. it needs improvements in audio quality including some media buttons and better speakers. the ports are at the right place and the information lights also, excepting the charging one, witch will be better next to the jack. also the quality of keyboard should be better, because i dropped a can of drink on it and the keys broke so easy. one more thing is the processor witch could be an i3 or i5 but i got unlucky with this package."

"I am new to owning a laptop and my level of computer expertise is pretty low. I found my Toshiba Satellite easy to set up and operate as soon as I got it home. I have had few problems and those that I have had are probably more a result of my own computer ignorance than anything else. I can't seem to get this thing to communicate with the wireless printer that I purchased with it. My schedule is incredibly busy so I haven't taken the time to get in touch with tech support about this yet, but should be able to take care of that soon. There are also many features that I have not yet had time to try so I don't feel I can really comment on those yet."

"I've had my laptop now for about 2 months. First-time laptop owner - and I must say that I am pleased with the perfomance so far. I am trying to get used to some of the features. There is one thing that is a little annoying and that's the feature that automatically scrolls up/down and side/to/side when I'm naviagating the pointer sometimes. That is a little annoying when I'm trying to navigate the screen. But it may be something that I can manually turn off (I just hadn't figured out how to do it yet). And the fact the battery doesn't last that long. But other than that, I don't have any complaints."

"This product was a good price, It had lots of ram and memory and that's why I purchased it. The problem is it is a lot slower than my HP laptop that has the same ram and memory as the Toshiba. I would recommend to a friend but warn them of the slowness. It also states that battery life is up to 7 hours. I use my computer minimally and rarely multi task and only get 2 hours 45 minutes. That is a lot lower than the 7 hours you claim. I would be happy to have 5. I travel a lot and need the battery. So I am a little disappointed in this unit. But for the money, I guess its worth it."

"Bright, clear screen, fairly fast, but there is a problem with Windows 7. It is difficult to connect to my home network with computers using Windows XP.. When it does connect it doesn't say if one of the computers goes to sleep, and will not reconnect if one of the computers is shut off."

"I'm disappointed with the processing speed. Has the Pentium processor been ever been updated? It jams up with the simplest of games. And the keyboard stinks: sometimes random keys don't work. It's hard to type regularly and not have to go back and spell-check what you just wrote. Otherwise, nice features and display."

"I purchased a new Toshiba because we are leaving for the winter and I did not want to have any problems with my 4 year old Toshiba. I have been having problems with the new one and I am very disappointed. I called tech support and they did help me resolve the problem. I did not have any more trouble for 3 weeks. It just did the same thing again and so I am not confident about traveling with this computer."

"Trying to play a Bluray disc on the internal drive but it does not recognize this format. Also Toshiba touch pad sometimes does not respond very well. I end up using a wireless mouse."

"I began using the Toshiba laptop a short while ago. I am pleased so far. I am still adjusting to Windows 7. This particular laptop appears to be a well made machine. I feel I made a good decision in choosing this laptop. If I had the to choice...I'd choose this laptop all over again."

"We are a heavy user of SKYPE and this revealed an issue with video thoughput and most importantly, low maximum internal speaker volume. We don't want to rely on external speakers because this is a laptop and as such gets moved around a lot."

"I've tried several laptops over the years but, never really liked any of them. I tried this one at a retail store and was impressed with the sensitivity of the mousepad and the keyboard. I also needed a computer with a numberic keypad. Overall I am extremely pleased with my purchase."

"It's fine as laptops go. I do prefer my old laptop. My biggest complaint is the location of the, forgive me for not knowing the technical term, mouse pad thing. It's too far to the left for my liking. It's in the way. I hate it."

"Laptop I enjoy the computer except for one horrible feature. if you touch it the wrong way it gets magnified and moves around on the screen. I just want the normal size. I have adjusted the zoom to the lowest setting and it still does it."
