"Overall it is a great product. Excellent value for money. The two disappointments I had in the product was the fact that the display has horrible viewing angles (you have to be directly in front of the laptop to view any image properly) and the sound card does not support 5.1 surround sound."

"I love this laptop. It's sleek, light weight, I'm not real thrilled with the keyboard though. The keys feels kind of flimsy. It's a little slow at times, even though I use very few programs. I do however hate that it has the new Windows on it. Overall, it's a great computer."

"I bought this laptop to replace a 4 yr old Dell. I love the speed and I haven't had any problems. I use the keyboard shortcuts often, including function keys. For this laptop, in order to use a function key, you have to press the FN button at the same time. So Alt-F4 to close a window becomes FN-Alt-F4, very frustrating."

"When I bought the laptop, I had to take it back because the battery was no good. Then I had to go back again because internet explorer could not be found. I took it back a third time to have it taken back to factory. When I got back home, I had no internet. I had to call in a tech (at my expence) to get the network running. All of this before I had it a month. Not sure how I feel about Toshiba or windows 8."

"I got a Toshiba because all the HPs were sold out and I needed a laptop bad. The processor is super fast. Battery life is decent too. The webcam is AWFUL. HP has you beat there. I hate Windows 8, but that isn't your fault. The outer case of the laptop is so thin and cheap. I could literally take a ink pen and poke holes in the top with little effort. But it is much lighter to carry around."

"everything seems fine minus a few problem. while I was listening to music the sound disapeared. I checked all setting and they were fine, but even youtube music didn't have and sound. I had to restore it to prior day to make it work. 2- a more significant issue is the rt/lt click which is really stiff to compair w/ my dell laptops."

"The speakers are horrible and picture quality was not good. I purchased the laptop to work a bit from home and listen to music, watch netflix. In the short time I used it, had good overall performance for general pc use, but if you plan to use it for any media purposes (music, movies) youre probably not going to be happy with the quality. I returned it and got a Dell Inspiron with W7 instead and that is working much better for me."

"Being a poor college student, I freaked when my 16yr old desktop dinosaur died. Over the years I noticed that a lot of people owned Toshiba laptops, and always received great feedback when I asked people about their purchase. The only negative I ever received was that their laptop did not have a backlit keyboard (which was not an issue for me). When it was time to buy, I compared other brands to the Toshiba, and felt that I was getting more for the price with this purchase. I love the full keyboard, and being a lefty, I find the cursor pad is placed perfectly (not sure if it would make a difference to right handed individuals). It has a large amount of memory - I was impressed to launch iTunes with no lag. It's fast, and I haven't had any problems connecting to printers or networks. It doesn't heat up like I've seen other laptops do (sometimes I'm on the comp for 6 hrs straight and the bottom never gets uncomfortably warm) and the battery life is very reasonable (I can use it a full 8 hours without needing to plug in). The screen resolution is sharp and clear. The only thing I'm not thrilled with is the amount promotional junk that comes with almost all computers. Other than that, I have no issues with this item and will recommend this product to others looking for a quality laptop without spending a fortune."

"Some of the reservations I have relate to Windows 8, which I'm still not sure about. I got quite frustrated having to wade through all the apps every time I wanted to use Windows Media Player. I finally solved that by pinning it to the task menu.
Regarding the computer itself, I like it a lot, with a few reservations. Overall, I think you've struck a good balance between light weight/portability and slightly flimsy construction. Although I use it mainly with a remote keyboard and mouse, the keyboard itself feels very good, as does the track pad. The display is excellent.
The DVD/CD drive seems to work fine, although I'm a bit disappointed at the lack of an eject button on the keypad . I find the button on the side of the draw inconvenient, particularly if I'm using the computer in the dark and, quite frankly, it makes me a little nervous, especially as the draw only comes out a very short way when released - half way would be much better.
My main criticism is regarding the speakers, which are, quite frankly, appalling - my $20 clock radio sounds better and my friend's iPhone WAY better! I think it's really important that you take notice of that, because, quite frankly, if I'd taken a CD with me to play in the store, I would have either walked away or bought a competitor's product. While I understand that you have to make compromises because of size and weight considerations, I think installing speakers of that poor quality really lets down the product and the Toshiba brand in general.
Having suffered a major disappointment listening to the speakers, I was very pleasantly surprised to discover that the sound quality through the headphone jack is VERY different! Even through a cheap pair of 'phones, the quality is somewhere between good and very good, so I have every reason to believe that the sound through a really good pair of 'phones, or good external speakers, would be excellent.
OK, the bottom line is, as long as I remember to always use headphones, I'll be very happy with my purchase. Having said that, please replace those awful speakers!"

"This laptop had all the features I was looking for plus some: HDMI, webcam, multiple USB ports with USB 3.0, CD/DVD drive, etc. So far, I'm very pleased with how it's run--quickly and unobtrusively. It's a fanatic size, big enough to get all you need done, but still small and light enough to be very portable. Battery life is good.
My only complaint is that it uses windows 8, which I personally detest. Although I'm certainly not a tech whiz, I'm not a beginner either, and even after using this computer for about a month I still can't always figure out how to do what I want without looking it up.
All in all, though, I'm content, and would definitely recommend this laptop. I've been very pleased with all the Toshiba products I've purchased so far and will certainly consider their line first when buying future electronics."

"I got the Toshiba over an HP. In comparison I find the Toshiba to be just a little faster and I enjoy the design of the Toshiba to the HP. There was not much difference in price or performance overall. The only downside to the Toshiba is the battery life, it runs down quick but charges just as quick. I am enjoying my Toshiba either way and am happy with my decision. Thanks for providing a great product as well as customer service!"

"I bought the laptop for my wife, because her ThinkPad was giving problems. Of the previous purchases we had made for her, the Toshibas fared the best, so this time, I looked only for Toshiba with 3rd-gen i3 processor, and this Satellite seemed the best choice. I upgraded it to 8GB of RAM but even with the standard 4GB, I think it performed just fine. The Win8 is fast but she hates the new interface. I guess we need a touchscreen for that... Other than that, it is a good performer. I was disappointed with the quality of sound though. I expected more from the SRS HD sound. Honestly, I could have saved money buying a unit with the same CPU without this added "premium" sound, but it probably is a limitation of the physical speakers. Overall, I think the laptop is sturdy and hope it will last a good couple of years!"

"I had been looking at some nice laptops for $$$$ which of course would have been better but when my parents wanted a laptop to replace a 10+ year old desktop and only have best buy available this seemed like the ticket. I ended up buying myself one and works great for the broken netbook I am replacing.
Sure it doesn't have great sound or amazing performance like my wife 1k+ gaming laptop but I'm just using it for email, budgeting, bills and normal househould tasks and it works great for that once you adapt to windows 8."
