"I have had this laptop for about a month now. So far very happy with it. Win8 has a bit of a learning curve over Win7 but so far, very few compatibility problems. I dont like that you have to have a Windows based email to take advantage of some of the Apps. I bought this machine to replace my working machine. I love that I was able to get something similar , that has some great upgrade options for over the next year. Would have liked to have seen a better graphics card in this machine, I do a lot of photoshop work and find that I am having a few ticks that I think are graphic card oriented, that I never had a prob with before."

"This laptop replaced an older 2001 model. The difference is amazing. Quad Core/8GB RAM, big HD, big scrren, what else could you want for the price. I still can't believe how fast it is. Streaming videos/editing are a piece of cake for this laptop. Did I mention how fast it is?"

"The AMD chip works as good as, if not better than an Intel chip and is more reasonably priced."

"This laptop is very light, sleek, and fast. I love the quadcore processor, bright LED screen, and quiet operation. If I had one little complaint, the keys on the keyboard are spaced a little too far in between each other, which confuses my fingers when typing. But that is it...just an excellent, reliable laptop, and I am well pleased."

"I pre-ordered this laptop when Toshiba first featured Windows 8. My last laptop was a Toshiba and I liked the fact that they performed well and for a long time. This new laptop is amazing by way of speed, graphics and sound. The sound bar on this laptop is far superior than my last Toshiba, and is a lot more similar to watching on a LCD TV than what I'm used to in a laptop. It's amazingly lightweight for the size and price point. I was worried of it being too heavy or bulky to have in my lap or carry around but it fits comfortably in my jansport backpack and is actually lighter than my last Toshiba which was a 15". I got this laptop as a desktop replacement, and recommend it as such or for light gamers. I play the sims 3 on it and it works perfectly fine. There are a few cons of this laptop, but I still rated this as 5 stars because most of them I was aware of before I bought. The first would be the heat it emanates when on high power. This is how my last Toshiba was and I believe it's due to the AMD processor, but I could be wrong. However it didn't bother me much with my last Toshiba which I had for four years and so long as it's on balanced and the fan isn't covered by something it is perfectly fine. The touchpad is in an odd position. It's not in the center of the laptop and doesn't seem to work as well as my last. The battery could last longer, if you got a customized version of this one you could upgrade, or buy another through Toshiba. On power saver you may be able to get 5 hours, normally mine will give me about 3 1/2. Most new laptops have longer batteries than that, but a battery is a cheap upgrade down the road and for now I use it mainly as a desktop replacement and it hasn't been a problem. I'm sure a smaller Toshiba may have better battery life. Lastly, the adjustment to windows 8 took a little while, but this isn't a con. After about 5 hours of uninstalling and rearranging apps I fell in love with it. Believe me, the reviews you read about Windows 8 are by people who used it for an hour, didn't customize it to fit their needs or just aren't tech savvy. If you're a part of generation y and grew up with technology like I have I don't believe it will be a problem. The first day was tough, but once I learned the ins and outs I don't believe I could go back to windows 7 so easily. Switching app to app is easy once you get the hang of it and it is great for multi taskers and people who have a lot going on! If you're between Toshiba and another brand, I highly recommend Toshiba. A few other brands sometimes have lower prices, or more customization but believe me I've had friends with those laptops and they crash after two years or become so slow you can hardly use them. I only got a new Toshiba because a problem with the charger that was in the model of Toshibas only, otherwise it was a great performer. I had a friend who spent over $2000 on his laptop the same time I bought mine for years ago and at the end of that four years mine was performing better than his! This is the brand to buy! Overall I love the laptop, the size and quality for the price are fantastic! Windows 8 is great and comes recommended by myself. Again most the negative reviews about it are probably from people who didn't use it extensively or aren't used to new technology."
