"My previous laptop was a Toshiba Satellite and I loved it. so that is why bought the Satellite. I have trouble with the keyboard. The space bar doesn't always space and they keys don't always show without hitting it the second time. The somewhat recessed keys looked like a good thing before I bought it but now I'm not so sure. However, in all fairness, I have only had the laptop for a few months so I'm still getting used to it."

"Have had this laptop for less then 5 months and it has failed again. First time was only 58 days and hard drive went out. Repairs were made at Toshia service center. Have sent it in again because it will not boot up. Was a gift for my wife and she did like it when it worked but has lost faith in Toshiba after this time."

"Appears to be a very good lap top (Value for the Money). MUCH beter then the equivalent HP I had for a BRIEF time (Will NOT purchase ANYTHING from HP again). Fast and includes better graphic option. Only time will tell about RELIABILITY !"

"I really wasn't sure about Toshiba since my husband always worked with other brands in the IT industry. But this laptop has performed great over this short period of just a few months of ownership. "I was in the market for a laptop and been doing my homework. I spent plenty of time checking models and specs against Ubuntu web site. We I gone and done it and bought the Toshiba Laptop and installed Ubuntu Linux 12.04 and it works wonderful. All the hardware was picked up, boots up fast and only consumes a small 280 MB booted to the desktp of Linux. Can't ask for a better computer!"

"Have had this new Toshiba for about a month. Much quicker than my 2009 HP. Processor is able to handle more multitasking than the HP. Windows 7 is a much better product than Vista. Love the quality of the key board and mouse pad. Good value and would purchase another Toshiba."

"The hardest thing for me with my new lap top is the keyboard. The key sensitivity seems off. I've had many computers and never had this problem before. I type pretty fast and I really have to watch because sometimes the space bar doesn't register and some keys don't either. It seems I have to hit the keys harder than my last few coputers and always watch what I'm typing to see if the keys actually did what they are supposed to. Other than that, it's like most new operating systems, just takes time to learn the differences from your last computer."

"Not impressed with the fact that linux does not appear to play all that nicely. Random hard locks, when I look at the logs it appears to be kernel based. Once the open source community gets their act together and fixes these issues this will be a rock solid piece of equipment."

"I think this is a "cheap" computer. It is slower than I hoped and the keyboard is AWFUL! Some of the features are stupid -like the magnifying glass thing. No way to figure it out. It just gets in the way. Typing makes my wrist hurt along the sharp edge of the keyboard. I just don't like it and wish I had gotten something else. the keyboard is bouncy and I have to bang on the keys to get them to work. Also they are too far apart."

"With HP's reputation declining, I wanted to replace my older laptop with something more reliable. It's speed and memory are more than I need for my job in finance, as well as family photo archival. There was no user's guide available from Toshiba when I needed it (too new perhaps?), and I've had trouble getting the function keys to work consistently (I didn't have to hold down FN before, and "built-up static electricity" prevented brightness keys from working one day). Technical support, however, has been helpful, though you'd rather not have to go there for such seemingly simple issues. The separate keypad and wider screen are great for quicker entry and wider spreadsheet views"

"I love this keyboard! I have slight arthritis in my hands and this chicklet style keyboard with well spaced out keys and easy to reach delete keys is ideal for me. I can see how a touch typist used to deep keystrokes would not like it very much. However, touch typists do not like MAC keyboards for the same reason and yet often buy MAC's. Power and performance is great! The absence of a huge quantity of bloatware is refreshing. I too would like a users manual but have enough prior experience it do without one. If you like a crisp big screen, buy it."

"This laptop is a beast in a good way. We have a little netbook for dinking around. Takes 2 or 3 times as long to load a page on the little netbook than on this. Screen is large and clear and computer body is thin ans sleek. Fan is nice and quiet, unlike our last HP that sounded like a jet engine and ran hot enough to heat our house. Video playback is smooth, speakers are plenty powerful and clear. My only complaints are on battery life and keyboard. The battery only lasts a couple hours... you can do better than that! The keyboard's action is nice but each key is spaced an 1/8 inch apart. I guess Toshiba had to find a way to fill that giant space..."

"I replaced a fairly high end desktop with this unit. I play several simulators like FSX and Silent Hunter 4. Both of these run at close to the same frame rate as my desktop did, maybe 10% less. I've never been a fan of touchpads so I'm using a Microsoft mouse. Overall I'm very satisfied. It's not an Alienware gaming laptop but it holds it's own on the stuff I run."

"Beautiful screen display and colors. Liked having multiple 3.0 USB ports and lots of memory. Unfortunately it froze after one day and then completely locked up after 3 days. Did not like flat keyboard design. Keys were hard to feel and not enough space allowed for up and down arrows and delete key. Very sluggish performance. Took a long time to start up and web page browsing was slow. Bought it thinking AMD A8 would be a faster processor, but I was wrong. Returned it to my local retailer."
