"I have tried several of the competition, but this is my first Toshiba. The Satellite exceeds my expectations. It is fast, doesn't come with a bunch of garbage trial programs and, thanks to Windows 7, is easy to find things (compared to Vista). Great little computer!"

"My main laptop is a 4-year-old Gateway 17" with XP. I need a small, lightweight laptop for our upcoming trip to Europe, and this will certainly do the trick. I picked it over competing models primarily because of its superior sound quality. It was also a competitively priced, which didn't hurt either. Things I like: 1. It goes to sleep and wakes up really quickly. 2. The touchpad doesn't irritate my finger nearly as much as previous laptops (there's a little grid on top). 3. This is my second Windows 7 system, and although I was gunshy after Vista, I have found it to be a big improvement over both XP and Vista. 4. The wireless reception seems a little better than the Gateway's. Things I don't like: 1. As is typical with laptop manufacturers (but that is no excuse), the battery life claims are inflated. Beware the "up to" trick! 2. When I first got it, it had an irritating habit of activating a button or link if I lingered over it a little too long. I finally figured out that the touchpad's tap function is oversensitive, so I turned it off - problem solved. I wish there had been an opportunity during setup to either adjust the sensitivity or turn it off. 3. I wish it had higher screen resolution. My Gateway's 1920x1080 has spoiled me. This one's max is 1366x768. Still, for the price, it's okay."

"I have used this for a couple of months. In general I am pleased with the performance and the displayquality. I would rate the sound quality above average. I have used it mainly with Adobe In Design, Photoshop and Illustrator, and it has performed flawlessly in that environment. The screen is a perfect size for portability and a lot of the time I will have it networked to my desktops so that I can take advantage of their screen's better resolution and size. This brings me to what I consider the dealbreaker, at least for me. After about 3 hours of use it will reboot itself following a BSOD. Yes I have reinstalled the OS and all my programs, but it still does it. My opinion is that it may be caused by a heat problem as if it is simply left on and not used it will still crash. Of course I have set the power management on the appropriate settings, i.e., leave on until I shut it off. This laptop replaces a Sony which was used for the same applications and I never had that crash even once! I am approaching my 90 day return period but I am reluctant to return it and go through all the new installation hassles, but it looks like I will have to before it's too late. Another relatively minor annoyance is that with Kaspersky installed it won''t allow file sharing and yet KIS works perfectly on all my other computers. When I am file sharing I just disable KIS and turn on Windows so that way I can get around that problem. If it were not for the BSOD issue I would keep it."

"I travel frequently for my job and I play computer games to relax. I needed a computer to run some more basic level games. This laptop does a great job serving this role! While not as powerful as my desktop at home, it easily runs a teamspeak client, a ventrillo client, and either one World Of Tanks client, or two Eve online clients. Which is all I need :) This would be a great laptop for anyone who is NOT playing the latest graphic rich games. As always, check the system requirements of any programs you use before buying a computer, but this computer would work great for moderate level gaming, word processing, and internet surfing."
