"Bought this model, and the first one the keyboard woldn't work, gave it another chance and the computer just never worked properly. I will put it to hibernate, and everytime I will turn it on, it will freeze. I reinstall OS and same issue. After dealing with this issue for almost 8 months, it just stopped working, it wont even let me access BIOS.... Buy another model, not this one."

"The P745-S4217 is my second Toshiba laptop. I loved my 16" in everyway except the weight when transporting it. So I now use this one as a desktop for my husband to use. I looked around for a while before finally purchasing my 14" to be sure I was getting the most for my money and it had everything I wanted as my 16" did. I didn't realize that the display case was not made as sturdy as my 16". I kept feeling an edge around the display when I would open and close it and I realized that it is where the casing snaps together. You can actually put your fingernail in between the top and bottom of the case. The top display case feels very plasticy. It concerns me that it won't take much to damage the display since the case doesn't seem to offer it much protection. I am very disappointed in Toshiba for doing this. At this point, this is my only complaint. If I didn't believe that the insides were quality, I would return it and look for something made better."

"I was contemplating a laptop or IPAD. When I checked out the Toshiba and heard what my son had to say about it, I chose the Toshiba labtop. I am so glad I did because I like it immensly, much better than my desktop. I like the comfort & ability to take it with me where ever I go & it holds all that I need to do."

"Well, I bought this laptop because I had heard great things about Toshiba's products and it seemed to be a great little laptop. And thus far, I haven't been too disappointed in its performance, and as a full time student, this lil' guy is with me for over 12 hours a day. The not-so-awesome: Sometimes runs wireless browsers a bit slowly. I also feel that I paid a bit too much for this machine. I'm hoping for longevity to prove it was a good investment. Hates iTunes; unless I'm doing something wrong, trying to run it on this machine is a pain. It was advertised as having a back-lit keyboard as well and thus far, I can't seem to find it. The awesome: It's very light and non-bulky! Carrying it around all day isn't a problem and the fingerprint-proof exterior is fabulous in look and function. Love the eco-mode...it is a lifesaver for my battery (which doesn't have a bad life, either!) Unlike some machines, it runs Firefox as my browser of choice perfectly well. Overall: Wonderfully functional laptop so far; my only qualm will be if it doesn't hold up for too long."

"In the past I have been an HP user. This time, based on a recommendation of a computer tech, I switched to Toshiba. I have been pleasantly surprised by the performance of this laptop. Features are great. I particularly like the feel of the touch pad - it seems easier to control the cursor than with the "slick" touch pads."

"The computer runs ok, not outstanding, not from I expected from toshiba. The best point are the speakers, the sound is great. The rest is average, it looks ok, works fine but I expected to be a lot faster. By the way, my current equipment is the second, I returned the first one it had an issue with a keyboard malfunction, keys were to stiff"

"I have had this laptop for about a month and it has met or exceeded my needs to date. It is fairly light weight, and fits in my laptop bag. (I specifically chose a laptop without the extra number keyboard due to problems finding a bag that would hold my old one.) The textured exterior doesn't show finger prints or scratches. It is fast and portable. The keyboard is very comfortable and I can type quickly on it. So I'm happy so far."

"I have a six-year old PC desktop and its performance these past few months have become poor. It was time to get a new computer and retire my old one. I have simple uses for computing -- internet, word processing, worksheet, picture editing, (games rarely). I decided to get a small laptop for flexibility and space considerations. After reviewing some of the major brands a month ago, I chose the Toshiba Satellite P745. I'm glad this is the one I bought -- compact, nice physical features, very good performance and speed -- great value for money. The very first laptop I bought in 1994 was a Toshiba Satellite that ran on Windows 3 and cost more than twice as much. I'm very happy about my recent purchase after four computers, mostly desktops, in-between."

"I have to say that this is my first Toshiba. I previously owned a compaq ( for 3 years!), and it was one issue after another. My Toshiba, on the other hand, has been excellent. It runs fast, integrating different components smoothly and efficiently. I've had no problems with lock-ups, and I've found no other issues. The speaker quality is great, HD works with no problems, and I love the blu-ray! Overall I give this an A++ with a 5-star rating. Way to go Toshiba experts for bringing a computer that's finally worth buying!"

"A very competitive priced laptop, with almost any essential resource, enclosed in an usually reliable package by Toshiba. It replaces an outdated laptop increasing my computing power, and keeping track with technology. I'm satisfied with its performance. Only the battery has behave worse tha expected, limiting my productivity. However this laptop has a good value for its price"

"This laptop has turned out to be more dependable than my previous laptop in that it hasn't crashed once. I've installed and run hard-core applications that include servers, VMware, and VirtualBox. It was able to run them like a champ."

"Features, performance and quality are exactly what we need though we also desire fingerprint login and lit keyboard. Really love the built-in Harman Kardon sound and easy dedicated volume keys. The USB3.0 is great for my disk backups. We haven't tested battery life yet."

"I've owned at least 10 laptops, Toshiba got it right. This is a well built machine with all the features that you could want. It is still light in weight, compact, and comfortable to carry with you. I use it more than any other machine that I have owned."

"This laptop is very good. Im going into college as a pre-med major and with its features it serves all my purposes. The reason i got this laptop over other ones, is because of the i5 intel core processor. This allows me to run many things at once with out my computer freeezing up. The other reason is the amazing amount of memory it provides. I do a lot of projects and essays and it is very convient and nice to be able to work on my computer with out a seperate external hardrive for memory. I also like this computer because of its blu-ray player, allowing me to watch DVD's with nice quality. Also, the speakers are amazing. I am able to blast pandora and I=tunes without it getting garbled, fuzzy, or staticee. The only downside is I feel like I am constantly pluggin it in. I feel like the battery doesnt last very long with out the eco-battery option on. The eco-battery option does extend the battery life for up to an hour. Overall, I LOVE THIS COMPUTER!"
