"I got this laptop over a year ago as a replacement for my other Toshiba (yes, I have been a Toshiba fan from the start). At first I was worried by using Windows 7 (lots of incompatibility by that time), but now this is not an issue at all. I have never had the problems some have complained about - and beware I wouldn't easily get a replacement if I had had.
Anyway, I like its look, it has a modern finish despite being black, without the need for "arabeques" like some HP or Vaio fancy colors that make you tired after a while.
One small feature which makes a huge difference to me is the number keypad, that most laptop don't have or have it over some part of the keyboard (the other Toshiba didn't, and it was pretty annoying trying to get figures into Excel, e.g.), makes it feel like my good old desktop keyboard. Fast access with "touch keyboard" to volume, wifi on/off, mute and eco mode are also a plus, and its tiny speakers are powerful enough for something that will stay on your lap or in your living room at most. In fact, I used it to watch movies on DVD connected to my LCD TV by HDMI and it worked perfectly, totally "plug and play". It is nice to have a faster USB 3.0 connection whcih was a plus I had been looking for when I decided to upgrade my laptop.
Of course it is not the top laptop available right now, so if you really "need" blu ray player or are an apple aficcionado, look elsewhere (don't know what you're doing reading this anyway...). Furthermore, I had no trouble with the built-in camera, works perfectly with skype, and I download all my photos and HD videos directly from the SD cards with no trouble.
All in all, I can't complain, and I'm not exchanging it for another laptop in the next year for sure - the only reason right now to consider buying another one is if I get a Macbook or something like that just to sync with my iPhone. Battery life is an issue if you intend to go for more than 6h unplugged (say, long flights), but most of the time I am at home. It is also somewhat heavy compared to other (more?) portable laptops available, so if this bothers you, be sure to buy a comfortable laptop bag, and have a personal look at this laptop before you make up your mind for something $200 more expensive for only half a pound lighter. I definitely recommend it, I only gave it an overall 4 star review because to be excellent it should solve the battery and weight issues, and there are laptops closer to the "ideal" one."

"had this laptop for about 3 months and it just stopped working, would not stay on, took it in and they sent it off to have the hard drive replaced, they got it back and when going to pick it up it would not stay on again, they sent it back out and the motherboard and power membrane were replaced. I tried to set it up last night for the push2TV device and come to find out they did not install the intel wireless display back to it, very upset at this point. Wonder now what else is missing from it. I had only used this for about 3 months, it was not abused in any way, this is ridiculous for the $ that was spent on it and the time and frustration I am still having."

"Purchased brand new on 12/23 and by 3/23 I had to send it back to have the hard drive replaced. We use the laptop maybe 2 -3 hours a day max and it broke after 3 months. The battery life is also terrible. I would not recommend this laptop."

"Pleased with another Toshiba purchase. This is the third Toshiba purchase for the family. Our first Toshiba was for my daughter when she was a junior in high school. She is now a college junior. She was so pleased with her computer that we decided to try one and it did not disappoint. The most recent purchase was another one for home. We play an occasional computer game, use financial software for our checking account and taxes, surf the internet, shop online, and also for occasional work from home. The speed of the computer more than meets our needs. Setup was easy and did not take long. Software installed without any problems. Definitely like the ease of using printers, mouse, and other devices like our digital camera. The email setup with our software was a lot easier with Windows 7. Overall, definitely recommend this computer. The speakers on this model are much better than our previous models."

"I bought this to replace a 7 year old Toshiba Satellite that died. Wish I had bought another model. The lighted bar above the touchpad and the bar of lighted icons below the screen are very distracting, especially in a darkened room. Only ECO mode turns off the bar and icons, but still leaves the on/off and green ECO icons lit. The worse feature is the touchpad which is off center to the left. If you are used to a centered touchpad, do not buy this model."

"I had been looking at different laptops for a while and reading reviews. I hesitated to buy, just thinking I would get something I didn't like. My colleague at school recommended a Toshiba. Told me she has had hers for years and just bought her mother-in-law one. So, I took the jump, and have never regretted it. Mine is for pleasure use, not business. I always thought it would take time to get use to the keys on a laptop. . not this one. My son-in-law (who has HUGE hands) even liked the keys. As I said.......... DON'T HESITATE!!!"

"For the most part the computer does everything it says it would do. Havent had any issues other than the Built in Camera. Camera is the worst camera they could have put in there. It is way out of focus. Not very good for skyping. Toshiba needs to get this problem fixed."

"The Satellite P755-S530 has some really great features - the keyboard is very close to a full size keyboard with the same feel. The laptop has great speed and functionality. My only complaint is the screen has a washed out feel to it. I would have liked a little better screen definition as I use it primarily to create PowerPoints and I would like a little more contrast."

"had a hard time finding what I needed in a price range I was willing to spend...this is close to both criteria. Inital reactions are positive. We are still in the bonding stage..so far the only problem of note is that it's a little larger than I thought and not quite as easy to carry around(my bad not yours). "I just replaced a 4 year old Toshiba 17" laptop that served me well, so I decided to get another one. For the money, this laptop cannot be beat! Even the entry level i3 processor is plenty fast for everyday tasks. It is quiet and runs cool and is lightweight which is nice for carrying around the house. The battery life is respectable, but I run it in high performance mode, could probably get more out of it with eco mode, but I still get a good 3 hours out of it. The only concern I have is the quality of the case, it seems just a little flimsy, and the screen flexes quite a bit, but if you're not throwing it around the room it seems durable enough to last. I guess that's how they keep the weight down anyway. The keyboard is superb, the keys are spaced out a little bit not mashed together so it is easy to clean and has a solid feel. The gray-black finish is upscale and one of my favorite things about it. All around a well-designed laptop."

"I have enjoyed the use of my new laptop. Features on it are very clean and visually a very pleasant tool. However, there are some details that concern me about the equipments longterm durability. The button response on the touch pad is a very cheap plastic 'click', and the battery housing feels very weak when you carry laptop from primary workstation. On the positive side battery life is very good, and the system has functioned flawlessly out of the box."

"This is my 4th Toshiba satellite and reccommend them whenever I can. My first & second one where used and abused as I traveled with it in my vehicle as an outside salesmen. Ive dropped it and everytime I turned it on it worked! The batteries back then weren't the best but in 2012 they are much, much better. I bought my wife one, recommended my mom into one and my (3) other brothers. As I stated, clear screen, reliable and powerful enough to even run my business."

"I prefer a desktop puter but decided on a laptop beacause of ease of transport between north home and Florida. My short ownership may be unfair to rate this puter. "I bought this laptop because the deal was too good to pass up. The battery failed in the first week, but Toshiba replaced it in less than two days. Speed and performance are good. Screen resolution is good. I like the feel of the keyboard. My biggest complaint is the casing. First, it's pretty thin and does not give the impression of being very durable. Second, and most importantly, the roughed up surface on the hand rest area on either side of the touch pad rubs my hands and it starts to get irritating after extensive periods of typing. By no means do I have soft hands. I've started using an external keyboard with it when I have to type much, and a wireless mouse."

"So far this LT is what I expected. Nothing is excellent in the computer world. I hate when all the different windows pop up asking if it should be displayed in the future, I check do not show and the next time the application is used, there is the window again. Battery life is shorter then should be for general use.looks are good, light weight and basically satisfied."

"This is my second Toshiba laptop. My first was damaged by lightening. I bought another brand after that and never got to like anything about it. When it got a virus I ran the very next morning to get another Toshiba."

Then I make a suggestion based on the, this particular computer I would suggest to a novice or an experienced user would have a higher performance demand of his computer. It just fits the bill exactly for them both."

"I really like the toshiba satellite series..I got the one with the harman/kardon speakers,larger screen. But the only bad things about it is the battery life,it needs more memory and on mine,the #3 button is halfway off :("

"I have had this laptop since December 18th. I had a Toshiba laptop for about 6 years--very reliable and no real problems, but it was slower, and I wanted to update. The quality of my old laptop made me lean toward buying another Toshiba. I shopped around--checked out other "comparables" in other brands and the look, feel and performance of this computer outdid the others. It's well worth the price. The sound is awesome for a laptop--be sure to check the settings for when you are using earphones and when your're not. It makes a big differene in the quality of your sound experience. The keyboard is very solid - not flimsy and bouncy like a lot of others in this price range. It's very fast to boot up. I'm really lovin' it. Battery for normal email/internet surfing is a good 5 hours, less if I'm streaming much video. I don't do gaming. Don't over charge it and if you want to use it plugged in for any length of time--best for extended "heavy use"--take the battery out. You'll get better battery performance. Right now I can only praise Toshiba for this one and hope it keeps delivering as well as it has so far. Can't comment on service because I haven't needed it yet."

"I have used it for about two weeks. This is my first laptop computer and so far I am giving it five stars; I have had no complaints. One of the reasons I purchased it was screen size plus my good friend owned a Toshiba was very happy with it."

"After using a Toshiba Satellite laptop for the past 7 years, I am extremely disappointed in this one. Compared to my old Windows XP model, it is v-e-r-y, v-e-r-y s-l-o-w, running my old 32-bit programs under Windows 7. Also battery life is embarrassing - about an hour, 15 minutes unless you use their recommended eco settings which have an unreadable dim screen and can put up with the whole thing shutting down every 3 minutes or so. I'm tempted to replace the hard drive in my old machine and go back to it. The only things I like are the NUM pad on the keyboard and the bright display screen (when plugged in)."

"Screen is almost impossible to read. No clarity. ID and password boxes blend into background as do other items making them very difficult to distinguish. I made a significant mistake when paying a bill on line because the screen is so difficult to read. I would like to return this machine and get my money back."

"This is the 3rd Toshiba I've purchased. My last Toshiba, while still working, is on it's last legs, so I figured after 8 years of use it was time to retire it. This one is very nice, fast, BUT I had to send it back to Toshiba to have the dvd drive replaced as it scratched 2 new cds (very annoying). I sent it back & had it home in 5 days with a new drive installed. The only down side to this is the space bar is a little finicky & the web cam is terrible!!! Even new cars sometimes have bugs,,so I can't really fault Toshiba. LOVE IT!!!!!"

"I had purchased the Toshiba due to the fact that my previous computer that was only one year old was not workable. I did some research and the overall consensus was to purchase a Toshiba. It has been working great and I feel that it was a wise choice. My only complaint is that it is a bit heavy. I wish it were slimmer and lighter weight. But overall I am happy with it."

"very happy with the final convert from desk computer to laptop. got used to the smaller buttons and the mouse quicker than i thought. love that i can take it anywhere in the house to use thanks to the wireless. also love and would recommend that anyone purchasing one pay the extra money to have them set it up right at the store so when you leave it is all ready with the updates, security, etc."

"I am not too happy with the sticking mouse pad and I do not like that I constantly have to reset my zoom to 100% while playing games or checking my email. I am very satisfied with the speed of uploading images, songs and emails and I love having the webcam built in so I can Skype with my friends in other states. Overall I am happy with my purchase of this laptop."

"This is a really good laptop for the price. I would have expected to pay at least $100 more for this value. The keyboard is very easy, I can quickly turn off the built-in mouse pad as the cats walks across it, and the volume up and down buttons are very handy. It's also quiet for using the camera and recording."

"I had a lot of problems getting the webcam to work. Also, prefer paper manual to looking on web. Wanted a cord to hook up computer to my television, clerk at store just said I had to go look elsewhere in the store. Recommendation where easily seen would have been handy."
