"this is a fair laptop for its price and age. Needs more ram when you get it or it is kinda slow, it says my wifi connection is terrible though it is in the other room. Heavy. Speakers rock though I don't mix beats or all that. DO NOT PLLAY MINECRAFT ON THIS
I play mindcraft for a little bit than all the blocks change. Toshiba, make the same version of this laptop but more ram and make it a part gamer part tech wiz laptop so the price isn't sky high from the gaming part of the laptop."

"Two weeks after I brought this computer, I found better deal for $200 less than what I paid for. The Windows 8 is problematic; a lot of apps are not stable in this OS. I don't like the start page; I would like to see the start button (circle) back. I spend a lot of time trying to find programs and learn how to change the settings."

"I am very happy with my new Toshiba, it has a lot of useful features and runs very smooth and fast. I marked it lower on performance because of a little glitch I encountered soon after purchase. I had to reformat. I don't blame the manufacturer it was a windows 8 glitch. I would not give windows 8 a good review. Since that no more problems the laptop is great to use.The touch screen is the cherry on top ."

"I like the weight of this laptop. I also like the touch screen. I am having trouble with the Windows 8 and all the changes there. Wish I had a book of directions. Also, the book that came with the laptop has the buttons all opposite of where they really are. I also wish it had more USB ports so I could plug in all my many apps etc. Overall it is a very nice laptop."

"I first had a 17" Toshiba and loved it, but it was too big for my cases, so returned it for the 11.5". I liked the step by step set up directions, but in the AM, the laptop was dead. I returned it and was not confident to get another, so I'm still without a laptop."

"After about a month into purchasing this laptop I had issues with the screen. It was like someone was touching the screen constantly (the spot would sometimes be e same and other times it would jump around). At first I could fix the problem by forcing a restart or taking out the battery, but then I had to restart more and more times. I finally figured out how to turn off the touch screen (device manager, human interface, and disabling each
of the options until I got to the touch screen).
Overall I haven't found a lot of perks of windows 8 over Windows 7 especially since you cannot actually use this PC as a tablet. Otherwise the computer suits my needs for school and is relatively lightweight although a tad bulkier than I'd hoped for the price."

"The most frustrating issue is with the touchpad. The buttons aren't very responsive. Another problem I'm having is with the wireless connection. I have to reconnect everytime I use the computer, which has never been the case with any other computer I've had. Usually when you set a wireless network to connect automatically, it will, but that is not working on this laptop. Everything else seems to work well. I was excited when I realized that my wireless printer automatically installed upon setup...that was a great feature."

"laptop has Windows 8 on it so is difficult to determine what is problems with the computer vs problems in my understanding. The mouse touchpad is super sensitive when my hand go over it. I am a fast touch typist and frequently have to go back and correct words because they are missing letters. Seems like the keys are not working properly some times. Wish there were more manuals provided on the laptop instead of having to chase them down and downloading them."

"I bought the laptop at best buy after speaking with a toshiba representative. I have had it a couple weeks and the mouse no longer works, the keyboard no longer works.....then I did a search on the reviews of the product I bought. Too bad i didnt do it before I purchased the product. I have bought toshiba before (go thru 2 computers every couple years). I dont know if it is a problem with windows 8 (which is a whole new learning curve) or the computer. I am hopeing best buy will take this peice of junk back!!!"

"This laptop does everything I wanted it to do. I bought it primarily for communication on skype. The sound is excellent for a lap top. And the built in microphone works very well. "But I found win8 difficult at start but gets easyer ! Not sure i like the hd disk protection label that pops up every time my big neighbor walks down the steps! Other than that no problems yet, except trying to install the anti v that they push on you at best buy it won't remove all of norton therefor won't install! Norton is working fine ! Why push anything else? And give better info on how, if you are going to push something besides what's on it! Maybe just go ahead and install the other ? Seems the smarter thing to do. Thanks for now give me a month then ask me when I've had time to have a real opinion!"

"I think the touch screen is a cool feature. When I first got it, there weren't enough instruction videos posted. I had to do a lot of digging to find how to use the product. I don't like how sensitive it can be. I'll be in the middle of a project and my screen will shift to another application. Also, I wish there was a task bar - the one that I found shows all applications - most of which the computer itself relies on. I need a Task Manager that would allow me to shut off programs I don't need, not software. However, my BIGGEST complaint is the keyboard. I don't too much like not having the number pad on the right, but worse than that, the keys are hard to press. A lot of times, my keys don't register as being hit, so my wording is all bunched together most of the time. It's so disappointing because I do a lot of writing for work and school, and this really takes away from my productivity. I have to hit the keys really hard and do a lot of editing."

"3 PCs in one week, the first one the keyboard didn't work right out of the box. The second PC lasted about two days then wouldn't boot up. The third PC had errors listed in the device manager right out of the box but it did work for 4 or 5 days before it wouldn't boot up. after one week and 3 Toshibas I switched to Acer M series and so far so good."

"Before I bought this Toshiba laptop. I did a lot of research on which brand would be right for me......including speaking with several computer gurus, geek, technicians...all of whom suggested Toshiba first...Samsung second. So, realizing they were much more knowledgeable about computers than I, I bought Toshiba laptop and a Samsung tablet. I am very happy with both.....they are easy to operate and can diagnose problems.....practically fixing them on the spot."

"Took first one back because case was separated in shipping. This one is very hard to open due to flimsy case design. Generally works okay but WAY TO MANY added junk from Toshiba that had Microsoft buffaloed trying to load Office 2013. It took Microsoft over two hours to clean up the new machine enough to let it load.
No backlit keyboard. No number pad. I made a mistake but luckily have a much better laptop and will use this as a backup machine."

"I was unable to use two programs after downloading them. I like the touch screen and the Windws 8 but the overall quality of the laptop stinks. I use my computer primarily for school, I attend online classes. After two days I could no longer even sign into my school site through the desktop and when accessing it through the Internet Explorer live tile I could sign in and view but could not respond in any way. I cannot use the laptop for the primary purpose I purchased it so I am very disappointed in it."

"The laptop's performance is great with responsive touchscreen, nice audio speakers and hi-def screen, and sleek design (except for the bottom part of the laptop where asides the rubber feet, there's a two small aluminum feet that makes me worry to be scratched by the surface). However, what I want is that Toshiba must create a touchscreen protector for their laptops with touchscreens to protect against abrasions."

"I bought this a month ago and its been a good buy so far. The screen is quite bright, the touch response is very good. The performance is good, the i5 processor is great even with several applications open. However, the wireless hardware tends to be problematic times. Battery life is marvelous and so are the speakers. Windows 8 makes this laptop an attractive package.

"Not sure if we got a 'lemon' but we've had some difficulty with the Toshiba Satellite P845t-S4310 laptop computer. We were enthralled with the touch screen especially when we were purchasing Windows 8. The computer will freeze up from time to time or the 'wheel' just spins and spins for hours. The disc drawer wouldn't open and we needed to take it back to the store where we purchased it for help. Since then...it's worked okay."

"Getting use to windows 8 is bad enough but you laptop cursor pad is makes it even harder. When i mouce over something and go to tap the pad the cursor moves and I end up opening something else. If I try to left or right click the cursor moves and it does something different. If I an looking at something on th einternet and click on the back arrow on internet explorer to go back my mouse freezes up for about 3 seconds. The bulk of the issue is around the mouse pad."

"The speed and sound quality are great for the price point. Graphics could be a little crisper, but for the price it is still a great deal. How well the battery holds over time is yet to be determined...I have only had my laptop for two months, so far it is holding up very well."

"I am 90 % satisfied with my Satellite P845T-S4310. The biggest challenge I have with it is that when typing the courser jumps to somewhere on the page and if I don't watch what I am typing I have to go back and do it all over again. I have tried adjusting my sensitivity but have not overcome this challenge."

"I like the laptop but I think getting use to Windows 8 from XP will take time.. I find Window 8 very busy with the start page always popping up.I would have liked a phone jack or blue tooth to fax from the computer. Hence a lower score for features."

"The touch-screen is literally falling out of its case. The case is so light that if you touch the touch-screen, it tips the computer. Windows 8 is the biggest disappointment with this system. Never respond to an "impulse buy" when it comes to computers."

"I have been an avid Toshiba laptop user until I had to purchase a new one (Satellite P845T-S4310). I found the lightest one I could (due to traveling). This by far, is the absolutely worst experience I have ever had. Windows 8, IE 10 and touchscreen with a NON-detachable keyboard is awful! The IE 10 is unstable- having to reboot constantly. Win 8 AND IE 10 is NOT compatible with my work environment. I am having to REMOTE INTO WORK computer to use that environment to get my work done. Additionally, I use a high resolution 26" external monitor and I have to keep the laptop OPEN when in use so my external keyboard will work! There are NO software step-downs for Windows 8 and a MANUAL/PER TAB step-down for IE10. This is unacceptable! Why is there no work-around? I understand Win 8 is the new up and coming software, but what about us people who work in a different IOS environment??? I won't EVEN get into NO PRINT PREVIEW, NO EXPLORER, NO DESKTOP."

"This is the first TOSHIBA I have owned. It was recommend to me by a friend. I wanted a small laptop for traveling, to stay up on my emails and maps for the travels. So far it has been easy to use, with a good picture on screen. Very light and easy to carry. The touch screen is very enjoyable and liked the price."

"First the good - The touch screen works perfectly well. For an entry level window 8 product that was one of my concerns. It did not need to be. Very happy with that aspect of the device. It is very light weight, and does have kind of a cheap feel, but not a deal breaker by any means. My biggest problems encountered in the first month of use is that the computer lags behind on occasion. Like it is taking a few seconds or more to 'catch up'. I also have it drop WiFi connection on occasion which is bothersome. Other then that I am very happy so far. There is definitely a learning curve with Windows 8, but that has nothing to do with the computer. I am also a bit disappointed that their is no built in Bluetooth."

"Nice compact size. I like the touch screen and the touch pad works well. Bought it on sale at a good value, because I didn't want to spend alot. Haven't got to try the Push to TV yet, because I am told that the WiDi reciever doesn't work with windows 8, yet. I don't use this for anything more than email and surfing the web from the living room. Overall we like it."

"The Satellite laptop is very easy to use. It does not ask for a password every time you go to a new web site like my old one did. I wasn't sure how I felt about the touch screen and Windows 8 but after working with them for a month I really like them. "I really enjoy using my computer. I have the touch screen which took a couple of days to get used to it but since then I like being able to touch the screen to go anywhere. "I got this as a Christmas gift and absolutely love it. I already have an Ipad so I am very comfortable with the touchscreen feature, having a keyboard and cd drive makes this the all around best option. "I just got it this Monday 11.26.12 and I been working with it over 10 Hrs a day,i don't turn off my computers and I used it for game,internet browsing,network testing,office work,music and kinda act as the server in my home network,Its fast,Doesn't make too much heat or noise,crashed 4-5 of time due to overloading ram between network and local and multi-tasking with it.
WIFI driver has bug,when it goes to sleep and wake-up doesn't recognize the wireless LAN hardware anymore unless restart it or scan for new hardware in device management.
keyboard is a bit weird because of it size of the keys,I hit caps lock a lot instead of "A",touch screen is nice but its kinda useless cause screen doesn't turn and flip to make it like a tablet PC,speakers are loud and nice quality for a laptop,touch pad mouse is not that friendly cause its mixture of tap click and button click(doesn't have separate button for clicks) , cursor jump specially when trying to right click unless two finger tap,battery life is good last for me about 4 and half Hrs,webcam quality is great(Tested on Skype),screen quality is nice but color are not as sharp as Vaio laptops.
Windows 8,is little bit disappointment, doesn't have that interesting look like smooth edge of windows or bright colors of windows se7en, I worked with almost all of MS windows(from 95 to 8) till today & I cant say its good or bad,its just too different.
Laptop surface is cool,its same and one color all around it,its looks tough and durable.
Overally i like it,looks like a good and long lasting laptop to me.
Whats Missing: I think a laptop in this price range its nice to have bluetooth, Blueray, E-Sata,stronger graphic chipset like Nvidia or ATI also back lit keyboard."
