"computer was defective. touch pad did not work. would not run unless plugged into charger. battery status indicated 100% but would go dead when unplugged. sent back for refund. my wife has had 2 defective toshibas in last 3 years. dont know why I purchased but will not buy another."

"The laptop would stall and freeze and wouldn't hold battery power. It worked worse than my old computer I was trying to replace. Plus I hate Windows 8!!!"

"I've had this laptop about 2 weeks, and it's got great performance, great hardware, it runs games and things relatively well on most settings, and it's fast to start up and shut down.
My only problem with it, is that the mouse buttons on the touchpad built in, are very stiff, but i'm sure that will be rectified over time."

"Laptop itself is feature rich, but has troubles with video if left on too long. Screen splits in half and has lines running through it. You must restart machine to fix it.
I HATE Windows 8. It is NOT for people that actually do work on it. The only reason I did not return it right off the bat was a program called Start8 that makes it usable."

"I love the laptop, but I HATE !!!!! Windows 8!!!! I have had nothing but problems with the windows 8 features. I wish I had looked for one that had windows 7 on it because it works with my email and all my programs windows 8 doesn't. Now I have to pay someone to take windows 8 off this thing and put windows 7 on it! I really thought with the advertisements for windows 8 that it looked wonderful but it is a pain in the but unless you are running everything off the latest and greatest and are hooked up to all the newest programs etc. I have Dish Mail and it works fine but my contacts won't load! I can't use the photos section because it doesn't work well with getting photos edited for my website! I just wish it were windows 7!!."

"I have constant issues logging in to the internet, I am always having to reboot the laptop for whatever reason.
My last Toshiba laptop was amazing for 6 years. Very disappointed with this one."

"Pretty slow start up. Otherwise, it's a good machine.
Large fonts on the keyboard are well thought of.
Overpriced, as all Toshibas are, but hopefully will last for years, as all Toshibas do. My first Toshiba laptop was bought over 10 years ago, and it still works!"

"I think this laptop is great. Having previously purchased a windows 8 computer that was plagued with problems, I began looking for a windows 7 machine. I eventually purchased this laptop because of the windows 7 option, the dedicated G.P.U. and the relative affordability.
The computer has proven to be very fast , and performs flawlessly. I have had no problems what so ever. I am using a nearly 5 year old Toshiba
laptop that has been very reliable and problem free and I expect this one to be the same.
In my opinion, windows 8 is absolutely the worst operating system that Microsoft has ever produced, far worse than Vista. On the other hand Windows 7 may be the best. Also Windows 7 professional is a pretty clean install with no added bloat ware. A recovery disk for windows 8 is included so you can go that route if you feel like adding a lot of frustration to your life or Microsoft ever gets it's act together and fixes a truely buggy nightmare.
Customise it, get windows 7 and I think that you will be very happy, as I am."

"This is the worst laptop that I have ever owned. The CPU limps along, the hard drive is slow, and the keyboard is a mess. I have to pound on the keys to get them to respond, and sometimes I get double character entries. This laptop is a real disappointment."

"So I got this laptop to do some office work on as well as some light gaming and ended up using it as my main computer. The laptop is fairly light and seems to run fairly cool unlike some other laptops which I have used that have burned my leg just sitting on my lap for an extended time.
On the work side everything works as you would expect but on the gaming side I have been really impressed. It has run games I wouldn't think it would have like a champ, and even though I might not be able to run some on Ultra settings being able to game on the go with settings on medium and 30-42 fps is pretty nice.
The only issues I have run into so far is the track pad and the wireless card. Every now the track pad will go unresponsive for no apparent reason. This isn't too big a deal for me as I use a wireless mouse and don't run into the problem with it, but it is still an issue and I might just need to update drivers but I'm pretty sure they are all current. The other issue is the wireless card. It seems to not see my network every now and then. Seems like I have to uninstall the device form the manage hardware and reboot and it will pick it back up. Now this might be my router through FiOS or it might be the card. At any rate both of those issues have been the reason for the 4 star rating and not a 5.
If you are looking for a great laptop this Toshiba seems to be a good solid laptop. I haven't had a game it hasn't been able to handle yet and I have been more the happy with the performance and battery life. Now Windows 8...that is another story but I am getting used to it."

"I was mad that I could no longer buy a windows 7 that came standard on a new laptop. I was wanting to upgrade from my 2008 desktop with windows Vista, so I sucked it up and bought this laptop with windows 8. I am actually surprised at how easy it was to learn and adapt to all the new features. The few things I dislike about this laptop is every time I try and scroll down on any page the side bar search power thing pops up and gets in my way. I also do not like that the laptop itself is metal and not plastic but that is my own weirdness because my metal watch hits up against it and makes an awful noise! I am having a difficult time adjusting to the keys. When I type I miss keys constintally. But I am sure I will get use to that. As far as the quality of the speed, amazing. If it weren't for my wifi this computer would be lightning fast!!"

"USB3 seems buggy, never get it to work with the EZ-Dock2 HDD dock. Prrocessor virtualization disabled? makes VMWare painfully slow. Windows 8 ... not a big fan.
Don't like the gouped function keys, makes it difficult for those of use who use F5 and F3 a lot.
Has good speed and battery life."

"The Toshiba S875 is a wonderful laptop if you are not looking for a small portable computer to take with you on short trips. The laptop comes with a powerful processor and a good amount of RAM. The blu-ray player does play both Blue-Ray and DVD respectively. I use it to surf the internet, watch videos online and play some PC games and it fits my needs. The battery life isn't as great, however with a 17.3" screen, I didn't have my expectations set high. If you want a laptop to use around the house or at a hotel for business, then you can't go wrong with this! Love it and would recommend this to my friends."

"blu ray player software does not work ; so called update does not work either; desperately needs back-lit keyboard; have to print manual; have to create your own backup cd's;; this is a mid-range laptop with Win 8 - screen does look good but why max screen res of 1600 x 900 when you have a blu ray player; battery life is short -- but with big processor and good screen is understood; would recommend but for non techie type will need to get help to settle blu ray player software problem"

"The S875D-S7350 is a nice laptop. I love the large 17.3 inch screen but it seems to not kill the battery even with such a large screen. It loads up fast thanks to the RAM and I can run multiple programs due to the quad-core processor. One of the best features is the HDMI output which allows me to hook the computer up to my HDTV to use as a second monitor. I also really like that it has a Blu-Ray player. Overall, this is a great laptop that packs a lot of features for a great price!"

"I wanted a Laptop with lots of memory for my online game as well as good with photos. The graphics are wonderful for my game. I absolutely, positively HATE Windows 8. I have used the same Road Runner Email for over 10 years and Windows 8 does not support that type of email server and I was forced to use Outlook in order to maintain my existing email address. There was no editing software for my photos with the laptop and Windows 8 does not display the photo properties (comments, etc) like Windows XP or Windows 7 so I was a little horrified with that. I travel the world and like to put a comment on each photo so in 10 years I'll know what it is. The keyboard is great, love the 10 key pad. Not a big fan of the dual function F keys. I still use the F keys and it is a pain to have to Shift to get to them."

"Very good product. Loaded with features, 17.3 inch screen is wonderful, although it could be sharper; although I am comparing the screen quality to my Samsung Smart TV, which is 1080p @ 120/hz. Large touch pad makes using it comfortable. The screen could be higher, one of my few complaints. It also didn't come with a Blu-Ray disc drive. It would be nice to offer a Blu-Ray writer option as well. Overall, this is a great product I will recommend to my family and friends. Great, reliable performance and a user friendly interface offered by the pre-loaded Windows 8 operating system."

"Over all it is a solid laptop with a nice solid look. I am still trying to get used to windows 8 but over all it is very responsive, have not had trouble with lag or being to slow. I mainly use it for Dj and its screen is big enough to do the job. I actually didn't realize how big the screen really was. If you are looking for something more portable then this is not really meant for you. The battery life is not log either but it will last you a couple of hours. Over all I would recommend to anyone."

"Awesome laptop for gamers, but if you like to max out all of your settings then you probably don't want this. Games such as Borderlands 2 will ran on medium settings and things like bloom, flares, etc.at 30 FPS. That's pretty awesome for a laptop of this price. The application updater tool included is a neat feature where I can see and update things like my graphic card and other drivers.
Only problem I've had so far is that the realtek wireless LAN driver downloaded from the application updater is really buggy and you'll probably have to do a system restore if you install it."
