"Tecra A11 is one the last remaing laptops with a serial port. Many will find this port's usage obsolete in the fast evolving computer technology. However, in the industrial applications, the technology evolves at a very much slower pace. Many programming and data ports of the most advanced industrial systems are still based on serial connections. When working in the industrial environment, mobility and reliability of the programming device are crucial, especially when dealing with critical applications such as firmware upgrades. An intermediate connection failure may render the expensive hardware useless. Docking stations are bulky and power exhausive whereas converters may not be reliable. A dedicated on-board serial port is always the first choice. Military grade laptops are too heavy for daily office and site works."

"I'm getting used to Windows 7 but the laptop is performing better than expected. I have had some issues with hypernating but I think it has to do with my power settings."

"this is a good laptop, although I had to upgrade the RAM to the full 8GB, a larger hard drive would be nice, as would built in wifax. other than that, this is a great laptop, wouldnt ever get anything but another tecra!"
