"The 10" Thrive is the perfect device. With the Full size USB and HDMI ports, removable battery. I love it. Pound for pound this device out last and out performs all other devices. I don't know why they changed it on the Excite."

"We bought two of these for my sons (3 & 7) for Christmas. They are the best ever! The only problem I have is that one screen got cracked and it very expensive to get it replaced or fixed. Almost the same price as we paid for the tablet. The good news is we just put a screen cover on it and it is still 100% functionable. It is so great that they can do anything and everything on their tablets. They can play games, watch movies on Netflix, get on the internet. It is great for the house and is great in the car. They battery lasts a long time and charges very quickly. I use their tablet all the time and if I purchase one for myself, I will definately get a Thrive!"

"32G 10" pre-4.0 very pleased. Installed 4.0 ... slowed system to a crawl. Taps require long touches to be recognized. 4.0 looks better but bogs things down. Ran faster with 3.x. Version 4.0.4 installed. Toshiba needs to fix this fast. Will get more stars as speed is regained."

"I bought my Thrive A100 around Christmas when I got tired of struggling with the iPad. I have not regretted the switch. It is very user-friendly and does everything I want. I even found an Epson program to connect to my printer. I use my tablet for school and internet searches. I am really glad that it works with Adobe products. That was my biggest complaint about the iPad."

"I've had mine since Christmas Day 2011 and I have used it everyday since. I had actually ordered Sony's Tablet S for myself, and found out that my father had bought me this, so I cancelled the order for the Sony so as to not enrage "Pa-zilla". I was skeptical at first, as I had fallen in love with the Sony's RF Universal Remote Feature, TruBlack Screen, and the whole Playstation Store integration, but I was in for a shocker with the Thrive. It has a beautiful screen, and all the useable ports have been a lifesaver. The only thing that made it better was an externally powered USB hub, which lets me use my TrackBall Mouse, External HDD, and my Printer all at once. The full HDMI port means I can do all my web browsing on my 42" TV and then switch and watch a movie from my HDD through my tablet. The only reason I still use my laptop is because the android version of Firefox still gives me headaches with flash, I can't play LOTR: Battle for Middle Earth II on Android, and I haven't come across an actual IDE for Android."

Android 4.0 is coming in the fall and that's the only thing I am looking forward to. After a year of using my thrive I can confidently say I wish I had bought some other tablet like the Samsung galaxy tab 10.1"

I've recommended this product to every friend and family member and I've found no flaws of any kind. I wouldn't change my Toshiba thrive for anything... good job Toshiba I personally think its the best tablet ever...:))"

It feels more rugged than most and you don't feel like you HAVE to buy a case for it. The ports are an excellent feature along with the replacable battery. Kudos to Toshiba for making the USB port compatible with everything (even a wired Xbox controller) I have had no issues except user created ones from rooting"

"I am looking back on the specs I have and don't have. If buying a new tablet today, I would stick with Toshiba. I am a little disappointed in the the new Excite tablets. I thought that Toshiba would have stuck with the full SD Card. Remember what they said when they were first designing the Thrive, they didn't want you to have to buy new equipment. I guess that is no longer the case."

"I got my Thrive in Nov 2011. I love it! Infact I use it more than my laptop now. I like the compact size and I like the fact that I can replace the battery. What really sold me on buying this tablet was the full SD slot, full USB, the HDMI and the lock feature for the screen. It is very easy to navigate. Great tablet for the money and it is comparable to the IPAD. I would recommend the folio case for it as well.... I love the fact that you can set it up. I was going to get a keyboard but the onscreen keyboard is great, so you really dont need one."

Love the features including the full size slots. The picture quality is beautiful and the battery last a long time. I'm having so much fun with all the apps that are available to use. the only con I can find is that the volumn button is a little awkward to use. I'm very happy with my decision to buy the Toshiba Thrive tablet."

"I was not sure about the Thrive, but after owning it for about 5 month's now I am sure that it is the best, and very user friendly tablet ever made!! ... My only regret is not getting the 32 GB model, but I have 2 - 32GB SD cards that I can use in both my cameras and this tablet as well as my other computers, and also have 32GB flash drives too. However I find myself using this Thrive more than my other computers. Nice job on designing this tablet Toshiba.. Keep up the good work Toshiba and I'll keep coming back."

"I wanted to buy an X-mas present for myself and was considering an i-Pad. I already own a 10" Netbook, 12" Netbook and two 15" Laptops and was wondering if a Tablet would bring anything new to the table. I started looking around and the i-Pads lack of ports really turned me off. I decided I was willing to trade slightly larger size and a touch more weight for a card reader, USB and HDMI ports. I have a Samsung Galaxy S2 phone and I have started to really like Android. At the time I purchased it, the Toshiba Thrive was the least expensive 16GB Android tablet with a card reader, USB and HDMI ports I could find. I am very pleased with my purchase and I have no complaints. Initially I was a bit concerned about battery life and a couple apps did not update properly on the the first try, however both those concerns have been resolved. I am very happy with my Thrive. Highly recommended."

"My wife bought me a refurbished 10.1" 16gb Thrive from Woot at a small discount from retail. It came with Honeycomb 3.1 OS, and Service Station app kept timing out before it could ever download v3.2 which it said is available to my model. Also, frequently got time outs even when just going to a web page, and we have several other devices in the house that all have no connectivity issues. I wanted to exchange for another Thrive to see if it was better, because I like the hdmi and usb ports, but they don't have any more available so we're returning for a refund. I would definitely consider an Android tablet again - even a Thrive. Doesn't have to be perfect, but it does at least have to be snappy pulling up web pages. Integration with Google apps was great."

"The Thrive is a good Tablet, the problem is Honeycomb is not polished enough. There are some glitches here and there. G+ app is useless on the Thrive. This is a Toshiba problem, from what I've read. Other tablets seem to ironed out a few more issues behind the scenes. If the Thrive had ICS I think it would be one of the best, but the rumor is that Toshiba is not updating it. So if I were in the Market, I would buy something that has or is getting ICS. Honeycomb will be on the back burner now, with Ice Cream Sandwich rolling out to all new stuff."

"This tablet is often mocked for the lack of battery. Where the battery is just in Wh instead of the usual mAh. I will give you a mathematical approach.
Wh = Ah * v Ah * 1000 = mAh
therefore:
23 Wh = Ah * 10.8 v
23 Wh / 10.8 v = Ah
2.1296 = Ah
so
2.1296 Ah * 1000 = 2,129.6 mAh"

"Had this tablet for about 2 weeks now and i really like it. I must admit i kinda regret not just spending the extra money and buying an ipad since i alrdy have an iphone and they just seem easier to navigate, but i am still pleased with the thrive. I went with the thrive because of the extra ports, battery, and the droid market. Most other tablets seem to have very similar specs when it come to processor and ram ect. a couple things i dont like...first when browsing the internet for some reason when you click on a links it will close out the entire browser. i dont know if it is some sort of glich in the pop up blocker or what but it is very annoying (not as annoying as not having flash for the ipad though). It also constantly gives an error message that "sound failed to load please restart the device" but oddly the sound will still be working. There is no way to get rid of the message so it stays on your screen until you restart the tablet. one last thing...occasionaly after closing out of an app the apps sound will countinue to run even in sleep mode again requiring a restart. mayber i just got a bad egg i dunno. all in all it is a nice tablet 99% of the time the other 1% it is just annoying."

Now the only thing we fight about is who's tablet is better! I've Rad about people not liking the weight but that doesn't bother me a bit. I got a Logitech bluetooth keyboard and not only did it connect to my thrive quickly but no perceptible lag between keyboard and typed letter on the screen.
Overall I'm impressed and glad I made these purchases!"

"Have yet to find a better mobile device that is this universal, full sized HDMI and USB ports are very rare on non windows tablets, I have yet to find a reasonable android tablet with full sized sdhc reader bravo on that Tosh. Like every current tablet on the market the OS and drivers need a bit of work as far as bloatware goes android device providers are terrible at it but toshiba, for the most pard, did a decent job at not mucking up this wonderful hardware, though like Apple I fell they did not hammer out the kinks well enough software wise before launch, HDMI video extends beyond the edge of whatever display you are using, on the current update(3.2) not terrible for watching movies but the notification bar is cut out as well as the address bar of the browser. As for connectivity I have a wireless mouse and keyboard connected to it right now, as well as a 500gb hard drive and the memory card out of my Olympus sp800uz and I am viewing and editing photos I shot of Christmas on a 50" plasma, though please note that I had to open a terminal emulator to get my 500gb USB hard drive, in NTFS, to mount, but once i reformatted it to fat32 using my desktop it worked seamlessly took only a few seconds to mount and had access instantly, though a file system scan will need to complete before you can change anything on internal storage, took less than a minute to to that to 3different hard drives connected at once using a USB splitter, PS they added up to 2320gb try doing that with an ipad2, even though they but use the same processor"

"I think the convenience of having a tablet is great. It's not total PC replacement she found that out trying to play her face-book games. I brought it for my wife for her birthday a few months ago and she absolutely loves it. The only problem is she won't let me play with it. Thrive has really nice features that's not available on other tablets like the full size HDMI, 2 different full size USB connections, SD card slot and best of all a tablet that offers programs that work well with windows. I think she really likes the way it's connects to the network to check email and browse without trying to look at the small images on the smart-phone (3" vs. 10" go figure). Even though Toshiba came away with a winner with this one I still think a few improvements are needed to be the best of the best such as: having a LED Flash for the camera, Netflix's, apps that work friendlier with connecting to any wireless printer, a better internal battery that will allow users to exchange without losing power (sort like a two part battery, one is permanent while the other is a booster for additional power, similar to the smart phones but smaller) and finally offer the capability to offering a data service plan like CDMA EV-DO instance that might have something like a pay as-you-go option (just a thought). I'm waiting until next year for my own, can't afford it now. Until then the Thrive rocks!!"

"Since I bought the Toshiba Thrive, I almost never use my laptop anymore. I find the Thrive to almost always be faster than my laptop and can do almost anything I need to do including banking, investments, etc. The technology is amazing and I love the full size SD card slot. There is definitely a learning curve but it so interesting and fun to use that I have become proficient within a week, however I seem to learn something new about it every day."

"I’m an IPAD & Thrive android user. Due to google apps, I always wanted to buy an android tablet. After much research I decided to go for Thrive.
Pro’s
-------
- Lots of port’s - I can easily use my USB Drive, SD Card etc
- For many the thickness is an issue but for me it was good because it has good grip and no chances of slipping from the hands
- Nice initial set of apps so no need to search and also does good organization
Cons
------
- Apps performance is horrible (Keeps crashing, keep getting messages “Force Close” or ”Wait”. Many times I need to kill the apps
- Extremely flaky - The app works once and next thing you know cannot get out of the hanging app
- Horrible GPS (Just a drain on the battery - They should remove it)
- The location of power button right next to the volume is a very bad design
- Video quality of the playback in Media Player is very low quality compared to IPAD or even galaxy Tab"

"I love this tablet. It is expandable and has great built in features. It is so good I purchased another one for my wife. It goes everywhere with me and I use it more than I do my home computer. It is better than any e-reader and it is even better than an I pad. I am in education and we have sat and tried both side by side and the Thrive is the hands down better product for half the price!"

"I am a long time iPhone user, and wanted an iPad2! One of my main reasons for getting a tablet is so my young kids can use their learning web sites, but they require flash. I found the Thrive, and the hardware specs sold me. All the power of the iPad2, but also with everything apple would never give me! My only issue has been with the cameras, the front camera does not let enough light in, especially during video chating."

"I have had my Thrive for about a month. Had to reset a couple of times but all in all absolutely love it. I see a few have addressed this same issue. Even with that, I still give it 5 stars. Even our phones etc., have to be reset once in a while. I am not "tech savvy" even though I love "gadgets". I was very torn between this, the Zoom and Galaxy. For me, because it is a little more sturdy feeling, and having the USB, HDMI ports, etc. it was the definite right choice. I have absolutely no regrets! Toshiba, thank you for a wonderful tablet."

"I needed a tablet for my school, as I'm mostly traveling and transporting a laptop was kind of hideous. I decided to get an iPad 2, as people recommended it, well guess what, it would not work to do my school papers and will not open my school DRM books or able to edit my papers, unless I spend exorbitant amount of money in apps. For 3 weeks I went like this. A friend bought this one and when I saw it I liked it, specially that a laptop or wireless is not required to transfer your work, a usb or SD would do. To make the story short, I was able to get more done (edit and open my school books to say the least) in a few hours after I purchased this tablet, than the 3 weeks I spend with the iPad 2, this time Apple did not met my needs. GOOD JOB TOSHIBA!!!!!!!!!"

"I've got the 16GB version and it works great! I like the fact that the battery can be replaced by the user and the back cover is also replaceable with variety of color choices. Full HDMI 720/1080p, full USB and mini USB, and a SD card slot (not the micro). It also has Bluetooth and a 3.5mm port for headphones. Oh and a docking port too!
Pros: Read above.
Cons: no 3G/4G (only WiFi), no infrared, Volume button location is too close to the power button, accessories are a bit expensive, and I can't control people's mind with it.
If anyone is lookng for a tablet that can video chat, this will! But you have to use certain apps in the android market that are compatible with front facing cameras for the tablets. THIS DOES NOT INCLUDE SKYPE! Don't get me wrong, I love Skype but it does not work with front facing cameras on tablets. But there are other apps that do work. I know its not Toshiba's fault for not having it to work because they did not create Skype nor the Android OS. It is the app creators that need to make the video chat to work with these tablets. Enjoy your new tablet!"

"After shopping varoius products, the Ipad, the HP TouchPad, the Acer Tablet and Blackberry, I decided that for the price and performance the Toshiba Thrive (18 MB version)was the right one. I bought it this week and have been using it for several days now. I had a Android phone so I understood the apps and was able to quickly download the apps I wanted and set up the Website favorites I wanted quickly. The two limitations are 1) that there seems to be no way to use it with 3-G or connect thru a cell phone with 3 G, but Wifi is pretty prevalent now. The second is that while it works with Kindle (a real +) it is not compatible with the Android Netflix app- too bad. Other than those 2 items the software is great, the preinstalled apps are solid, the camera, input slots, speakers, and crisp display are great. Also I like the fact tthe battery can be replaced, no longer at the mercy of Apple when an ipod, ipad, etc. battery goes.
Great job and great hardware design."

"This tablet has more functionality and upgradeability than any other tablet to date. It has 2 USB ports, 1 HDMI port, an SD Card reader, and a removable battery. It uses the same 1GHz Nvidia Tegra 2 processor as the Samsung Galaxy Tab and the Motorola Xoom, but it costs less. The Thrive has an IPS screen for better color reproduction and increased viewing angles. The Thrive is a tad heavier than most tablets, but this is due to the extra ports and expandability options mentioned above.
Overall, the Toshiba Thrive is the best Android tablet on the market. You can get tablets that weigh a bit less, but you give up some functionality in the process."

"Nice hardware unfortunately lacks software support, haven't been able to find a good app for downloaded movies, not streaming and the build in player doesn't seem to support any format. Toshiba needs to be encouraging developers to port to this device, because at the moment I feel like I have a car but no wheels. Pre-installed QuickOffice wouldn't even allow me to upgrade as the device was unsupported, crazy."

However, the only glitch (hoping that Toshiba will adress) is the Power issues and a reported bug (app LtoDLservice) will be addressed soon. But these aint' a showstopper for the THRIVE - simply good. Keep THRIVING people!!"

"This is my first tablet, although I do have an Android smart phone. I was really surprised that as soon as I tied the tablet to my gmail account, it went out to the Android Marketplace and downloaded all my apps for me -- very convenient. The battery life is great; I turned my screen brightness down and get about 8 hours to a charge. No issues with the performance -- fast response, fast downloads. I wish there were more tablet-optimized apps out there, but that will come with time. So far my only complaint is having to remove the dock port cover in order to dock -- it's not tethered to the tablet like the USB port cover, so I know I'm going to lose it eventually. Overall this is a great gadget and I'm really enjoying it!"

"Very responsive screen, full SD slot is ++. Solid feel, very fast. 6 to 7 hours battery life if used non-stop. 10 hours+ if you use it occasionally throughout the day. Charging the tablet is fast (approx 1 hr). Recommend to install VPlayer so you can play avi, mp4, flv, mkv, etc format video files.
If you been experiencing a sleep and not waking up, try to uninstall recent applicaiton. It happened to me today after installing 2 phone optimized application. After uninstalling, the problem went away."

"Well, as this is my first tablet. I am impressed but sometimes, I forget that it is a tablet and not a laptop. I like the machine but it is somewhat heavy. Apps all work but I did have the doc app crash but otherwise everything else is okay so far.
Camera and video work fine, audio sounds incredible, keyboard a little to small for my personal use, battery life above average, wifi connect easy and effortlessness.
Downside USB port doesn't work on two separate external drives nor does the SD card slot. I am returning this today in hopes that another model will work.
Until then, keep up the improvement."
