"All the prior reviews are true about the sound, it is TINNY! Even when you turn the Bass all the way up. I did connect to my stereo system though and it sounds great! I would only recommend buying this TV if you have a sound system to attach it to."

"Like all the other reviews, the picture is amazing...comparable to any other brand. But the sound is poor. On analog channels it actually sounds pretty good but the digital channels sound like you are listening to a mono AM radio station. But I have a home theater and assume most buying a tv like this would too. I have an older home theater without hdmi so I just have to run the audio cables out of the Audio Out into the theater. It sounds great but I have to have the surround sound system turned almost all the way up to have it at a comfortable listening volume. Might have chosen another route if I would have known in the store...but its my own fault for not checking there."

"is pathetic. There is an adjustment for the bass / treble, but with the bass turned all the way up it still sounds like you are in a tin can. I only gave it a 2 for value, as I now have to buy either speakers, or a theater system so it sounds like something I want to listen to. The picture is great, so if you already have a sound system for your TV maybe this set is for you. If you don't have a sound system, you might want to look elsewhere, unless you want to spend more money to make it sound better"

"The picture quality is excellent, the best of any TV I"ve ever owned. The sound quality is the worst of any TV I've ever heard. It is tinny, too quiet as I have to put it to the 100 setting to be able to hear it over idle chatter in the room. I'm not exaggerating. I have an Aquos and Samsung in other rooms which are almost as thin as this Toshiba TV. I have no sound issues with those two models."

"I have been involved with filming in various formats from hand held to mini digital video as well as audio and music from singing and composing and recording on analog all the way to digital formats. So given that background, here are my comments. We have just gone from 480p rear projection 42" to this 1080p HD LED LCD 46" Television. We watched TV, Blu-Ray and standard DVDs, the Super Bowl, Netflix, and played all our Wii/PS3/Xbox 360 all to test this. The picture is clear as crystal, the action is handled beautifully--the usual blur is far less which made the action easier to follow. The quality has the look of first generation digital content with all the color, contrast, and detail that will make you think you're watching it as it happens. The sound from the hidden 7 watt speakers is very treble heavy and the 'bright' sound could be interpreted as tinny/not good. However, no Television comes with a sound system comparable to a great home stereo without costing quite a bit more. I am adding a sound bar, but only because I'm an audiophile. Otherwise we kept the volume on 30 (the default) and heard nuances in sound and 'whispered' lines from movies previously viewed we'd not heard on our last TV that admittedly had larger speakers. The 7 watt speakers are the only reason I rated this 4 stars. And they are, unless you're a real audo nut, a minor consideration."

"Picture is amazing. Never heard the sound of it, as soon I took it out the box I hooked it up to a pair of 5" m-audio studio monitors. Now I have the best system I've ever had!"

"I received this TV as a gift from my wife (she's not tech savvy) and was impressed with the picture and how thin it is. However after setting it up I am disappointed with the sound quality. It sounds like it is coming from a tin can. I tried changing the settings but it did not help. I have other LCD TVs and their sound is very good but this is my first LED. I'm not sure if this is common with the really thin LED sets. Buyer beware!!!!"

"Good picture and low cost of operation. I have a sound system so I can not comment about the sound quality or lack thereof. I don't think it rates as highly as some other name brand sets, but it is clearly better than the Insignia, Dynex, Vizeo, etc."

"I agree with most of the other reviews. The picture is excellent, but the sound is terrible. Looks like I will have to go out and get a sound bar. Tried to listen to Christmas Music over the season, but had to turn it off, it sounded so bad."
