"The t.v. is nice but I'm a little unhappy as to how there is supposed to be a ClearFrame/ClearScan feature that I should be able to turn on/off in the Advanced Picture Menu (Not there). I called tech support about it they were puzzled as of right now I'm still withing 30 days of returning the tv or waiting for some follow up on this can be corrected. If this issue can be resolved soon then I would recommend this to a friend."

"Bought refurbished and it arrived as new. Set up was very easy, picture quality is very good. For the price it is great. My main criticism is the sound is pretty weak so hooking up to external speakers is necessary.
However, that there is no 'headphone out', or any volume control from the analog or optical audio out ports means that you cannot connect standalone powered speakers and expect to control the volume with the TV remote. i.e. you must connect to an amplifier or powered speakers which have their OWN separate remote volume control, meaning I now have to invest in more equipment and use two remote controls just to watch TV with decent sound. Major oversight in my opinion. My other smaller Toshiba bedroom TV has headphone out and I am able to control external speakers with the volume just fine. Now I have to pay for a new audio setup. Not happy.
Overall, its a decent enough set. Channel scan was good. Navigating favourite channels and inputs is good. The remote isn't quite as responsive as I'd have hoped. I have to to a lot of direct pointing at the IR receiver, but its a minor irritation. All in all, I think it gets a deserved 4/5 for the price."

"I had to send this TV back because the outside frame didn't fully cover the small black band around the screen. This defect produced an annoying sliver of light just below the frame at the top of the TV. Even if not for the defect, this TV is extremely light and flimsy. I deviated from my own policy of buying only Sony because I liked the 120Hz refresh rate for gaming. Big mistake!"

"Too many people are complaining about low picture quality but if you buy an hd tv you need hd to really appreciate it. Great for watching bluray or playing ps3 amazing picture when being used to view hd but like all hd tvs if you watch standard def tv on it it will show you all the sins of standard def."

"Very satisfied with the purchase. One of the nicest clearest pictures I've seen. Hook-ups are sufficient and the styling gives nice appearance.
Looking at other reviews I agree that it does take a bit long to turn on, but once it does it is worth the wait. I disagree on the one comment about flimsy stand. I know I used more than one screw to mount it and it works well.
My other negative is that I think the favorite channel arrangement could be easier to use and better arranged. There was also no owners manual included.
Overall though a really nice TV."

"I bought this TV over cheaper options because I've had good experiences with Toshiba products in the past. Although the TV itself is a good value, this is a negative review simply because of the stand that came with it. I can't believe Toshiba would compromise their reputation over something this basic. The stand is unusable. It is extremely thin, and attaches with only one screw. The TV sags towards the front, and actually sways side to side. Wall mounting might be OK, but don't buy this TV if you plan table top or shelf use."

"I bought this TV before going back to college this year, and I'm crazy about it. The picture is absolutely incredible. Only gripes are that it can take a long time to turn on (as much as 10 seconds), and the speakers could be better (true of any tv in this price range, though).
Anyway, I'd strongly recommend buying this"

"I replaced a lg smart tv with this one. I was very disappointed. I do not use vudu. Redbox cheaper. Did have netflix. My lg had games, Facebook,I could download any apps and they worked. Internet worked just like a pc. I have Hulu plus which I can't use on this tv. It's 55 inches. When movies on from Netflix they are reduced to half size. No need for bigger tv if movies are smaller. My 50 lg did not do this. Wish I had kept my lg."

"This is my second Toshiba HDTV I have used as a PC Monitor. My first was a 32 inch ( 32RV530U). I compared overall picture quality with the top three brands. I even ask several of the sales people their opinion. We all agreed, the Toshiba was the best choice. Even sitting two feet away, the picture quality is superb! HD movies are Awesome to watch. I'm very pleased with this TV/Monitor."

"Very good value priced Smart 3D TV. This TV is very easy to operate and the picture is incredible. The 3D is great and passive 3D(no batteries) is a plus. Uses same RealD 3D glasses as most theaters. The SmartTV is simple and easy to opperate.
The web browser is a plus if you are only using to check e-mail, doesnt support flash based webpages.
All things said this is probably the best year for Toshiba TV's in a long time. The audessy audio is much better than years past and arguably the best in the industry out of the box. They have closed the gap with the other top tear brand."

"The sound is excellent when advanced sound is on. The picture could be clearer, perhaps it needs more tweaking. My primary complaint would be that it ships with "auto aspect" on so that the first few days I had to resize everytime I turned the set on. On page 77 of 144 in the online manuel it explains that it must be "off" to set the picture size so that it stays on "full screen" or what ever you have chosen. Otherwise, excellent quality for a small TV. We are using it as a second set in the bedroom."

"If you are looking for a TV without 3D and Wi-fi this is the one. We first noticed how nice the picture was in the showroom compared to other brand name TV's. We had the salesman turn up the volume and it was excellent. We were so happy with this TV we went back the next day and purchase another one. This TV needed no tweaking and had a great picture and sound right out of the box."

"Although the sound and 3d capabilities are fantastic, I am concerned about the refresh rate for this TV. The online retailer's website where I purchased the TV states that the refresh is 120Hz. But when I went to register the TV, I saw that the back label with the serial number is also says 60Hz. Guess that must be the amount of electricity that the TV is consuming."

"I have put off getting a flat screen for a long, long time, because I'm an old duffer and I don't care for anything that is on TV today - I don't even have cable. But I discovered HULU recently and now I can watch a bunch of old TV shows and have even found a few new ones (that are in 720p and 1080p) that I enjoy watching every now and then. So, going from an old 27" CRT to this Toshiba 46" flat screen is phenomenal! The picture is so incredibly clear, I feel like I've been given new eyes. No shadows, excellent contrast, crisp details, full range of accurate colors, very smooth high speed motion -- I can not imagine how any TV could be any better than this one! I have always thought very highly of Toshiba because of the quality of their laptops, but I see now that they are the best in the TV marketplace too. I am exceptionally pleased with this TV."

"This tv looks amazing. It gives the appearance of not having a bezel when it is off, but on you can clearly see the edge. The screen is shiny with some mat finish. Reflects lights and sun from windows.
The first tv had issues. Would not turn on right out of the box. Green light would flash with no video. After sitting unplugged for the night it powered on the next morning. During a football game it was accidentally powered off. Couldn't power it on... Just a green flashing light. Had to let it sit unplugged for hours before it turned on.
The replacement has been working fine up until the 5th day I had it. Turned it on and flashing green.... Hasn't done it since then. Makes me wonder true quality...."

"Purchased this TV in May as a replacement and in a few months it would not hold channels and need to be reporgramed. Then in November it simply died would not even turn on. It is currently being repaired by Toshiba under warranty, but I had to pay the shipping cost"

"The speakers are loud but the sound quality is horrible. I don't think I've listened to the TV at a volume higher than 3. But I have heard clock radios with better speakers. If you care about sound quality, you will want to hook this television up to something.
Where the sound fails, the picture and price, shine. While I have seen better picture I have never seen a picture this good on a television at this price, no matter what the size.
The 60hz refresh rate is noticeable, but only in fast moving scenes. The 2 HDMI ports could be a problem for some, but there are adapters that you can buy to expand on that. The remote is a little uncomfortable at first, but the TV does sync to some HDMI linked devices so you can control your Playstation3 with your TV remote.
If you are considering a new TV and want a great picture, you must see this TV in person."

"A really great TV. The 3D is almost like exhibits in Disney World. The 2D to 3D is dependent on the content. Glare on the screen can be a problem and the sound level must be set to near 50. My other HDTV sound level was very acceptable at about 32. I also have a much older pre HD Toshiba TV that still is great."

"A woodsman walked into a hardware store to buy his son a new axe. The salesman told him his son could do ten times the work with a chainsaw. The man bought the chainsaw and gave it to his son. A week later the man walked back into the store to return the saw. He told the salesman his son could only do a third of the work his son was previously able to do. And, his son complained it was much too heavy. The salsman looked bewildered and decided to test the saw himself. He started the saw. The man jumped back and asked "Whats that? We didn't know it had an engine".
They should really include a complete users manual.
Today companies seem to assume you already know everything there is to know about there products."

"We recently upgrade our old stand by 32" RCA TV to our new 50" Toshiba and could not be happier. The old set was starting to show the age and the wear and tear was evident but all things considered we upgraded because of the price. When we started to open the box and put the stand on this big screen tv, my son was just happy to help get it together. If your are considering this TV, just remember to run HDMI cables. The quality is 100% better than standard definition and you will not be disappointed. Overall this was a great choice for my family and awesome value for the buck."

"Initially I was fairly pleased with the TV until I read the manual and realized that even though the screen (27.5 x 15.5) is almost identical to the widescreen 16 x 9 ratio, the only was to see undistorted widescreen TV is with a 1.5 inch black band at the top and the bottom and a 3.5 inch black band on the sides. For the life of me I can't understand why ANYONE would design a TV like this one. It is a total waste of both features I was looking for, which were HD and widescreen. Fortunately I am still in trial period and will be taking this one back for refund first chance I get."

"First point of business. to "cajunlady" and "marianne". An HD tv is not worth buying unless you subscribe to HD content either through cable or satellite. The picture is only as good as the signal it receives.
The picture quality of this TV is outstanding. The images "jump" off the screen. My only issue is the same as another reviewer in that there was no owner's manual included with the set. It was easy enough to set up but more detail on the features of the TV would be nice."

"This 1080p TV is more like 720p when used as a computer monitor. The picture is good but not outstanding, and motion blur is a problem with fast action. But worst of all is the sound from the internal speakers which is incredibly bad -- far, far worse than that of my 26" 720p Toshiba. Frankly the product should have never been released to the public because of such horrible sound quality. The only saving grace is the availability of digital and analog audio outputs"

"Got a chance to watch a 3d blue-ray last night and the picture was awesome. A high speed 3d hdmi is needed. I had to connent from the bd 3d player straight to the t.v instead of through my receiver till i get another cord. The radar built into the t.v for the wireless wifi isn't very good it won't pickup any network in my living room. Every wireless device i use connents."

"I love our Toshiba tv. The picture is crisp an clean. The 3D works great too. My only issues are; it takes a while to power on (tv's are now computers) and when switching channels with different formats, it is slow. But again, it's a great picture and well worth the wait!"

"This is an amazing TV for the price I got it at. The only reason I rated the features lower is because it doesnt have all of the extra apps and what not, but that is the reason I bought it. I dont want any of that extra junk and this TV is perfect for that and looks amazing on my wall."

"Great picture, decent sound. It also looks good when sitting there unused which was something we were looking for. Super thin. Uses less energy than a LCD which was something else we were looking for. My only complaints are minimal. 1-No owners manual, only a quick set up guide. 2-No clock even though there is a time zone and daylight savings setting in the menu. 3-The green LED that lets you know the TV is on does not stay lit when the set it off, I like it to be on when the set is off so I know it is sitting there ready for me. Turn the bluray player on and the set comes on, turn the set off and the bluray shuts off, very nice. I would defiantly recommend this to a friend. The picture is so lifelike why would you ever go outside? LOL!!"

"Cons: wireless sets the wrong network settings(IP, gateway),so you have to manually go in and set the proper ones or spend time and money running an Ethernet cable across your house.
The keyboard is missing a lot of the important buttons that are on the remote(menu, OK, volume, channel)
The wireless keyboard only works the menu and web browser, doesn't work in Netflix, YouTube.
You cannot download additional apps other then the 5 provided with the TV.
The navigation arrows on the remote are surrounded with buttons making using the remote without looking at it almost impossible.
The Enter key on the keyboard doesn't confirm entry, you have to press the F4 key(Blue button).
The smartTV functions are lacking compared to other manufacturers(ie. LG, Samsung)
Pros:
3D works well, 2D to 3D looks alright(depending on the content being watched), you can use the realD glasses from the movie theatre(if the 4 sets of glasses are not enough).
The web browser works well with the keyboard.
Thin bezel around screen makes the screen feel big.
Colors and brightness are sharp, even when wearing 3D glasses.
Conclusion:
Good if you just want a 3D TV, but problems with setup and operating the other features, makes for a headache and wasting time trying to get it to work."

"The 24L4200U LCD set is really nice. There are aple connection options, the display is good for this smaller set, it even has an analog audio output to connect to my older audio system (although the TV audio does not port out to it (it should)). The viewing angle is okay but not as bad as some others. The system does not seem to go to sleep when the video signal is off, other sets do this. The sound quality from the set is okay, kind of cheap and tinny, but acceptable for the price. I with the analog audio output actually sent the audio from the tuner to it so I could route the audio to some other speakers with more bass. Otherwise beyond these deficiencies, it is a overall good set."

"This is a very nice tv and mine does not smell as the previous review states. Ridiculous thing to say. as to the sound if you can afford to buy this tv then you should have it hooked into a decent audio system. Tv's are monitors, not home theatre systems themselves.If calibrated properly by setting the backlight at 40, color at 35 and turning the clearscan off this tv has a very nice picture. Black levels are excellent and there is virtually no light bleed and motion processing is very good. At it's price point this is a hard tv to beat. Highly recommended."

"The picture quality is good, especially if you have a room with lights on, or daylight. However, the sound is ridiculous. If you watch an older action DVD (Bourne) then it can be "choppy" looking. Made out of cheap stinky plastic that will just smell. Which makes you wonder how unhealthy is that to breath in. For the price I expected a better TV."

"Picture Quality is Excellent. Beats or equals all other TVs.
3D is awesome and even 2D to 3D is good. HD channells are as it should be. Even SD channells are ok. Better than my other two TVs.
The only downside is no FLASH support or SKYPE support. Even last years' model 515U had both. I don't know why this year's model lacks it. Toshibha can introduce it via software upgrade. Because of the lack of flash support, although this has a browser, most things don't work. Hence my request is for the FLASH to be implemented ASAP. If this is done, this will be 5 star as well as surpass SAMSUNG, LG or SONY. All the competetors have it.

1. Looks - Great and Stunning, with its sleek design it makes my wall look more tech-geeky.
2. As soon as you turn on this, you are welcomed with the Japanese logo 'Toshiba' and there you go gets hooked to its amazing picture quality - Crisp, Sharp, very natural.
3. The price that I paid, makes me feel like a King as compared to its specifications.
4. Very easy to set-up. Just un-pack, hook it to the power and all set. I connected this to my blu-ray, video Quality is unmatchable.
5. Loads of In and outs at the back of the LED, Guess there is an optical out too in this one, which i still need to experience.

"I've had this TV for about a week now, and have been impressed by what I've seen. It goes without saying that the super thin bezel is amazing. It doesn't quite match that of similar size, cutting edge Samsung's where there is virtually zero bezel but it's still impressive nonetheless. Picture quality is outstanding, and high motion images are mostly artifact and blur free even though this is a 120Hz set. The 2D to 3D "conversion" is impressive and quite passable in many situations. It does cause a bit of eye strain for me however, for some reason though the true 3D content does not.
My two biggest complaints are the screen while not glossy, is more glossy than my 46" Sony. Though it can be somewhat mitigated by changing the TV to a different built-in setting to make the image brighter, I definitely notice it. Second, I LOVE the built in WiFi (it's suprisingly fast) but was disappointed that Toshiba hasn't gone the extra step other manufacturers have started to by integrated a webcam and some video chat "app" such as Skype. I've seen that feature on other cutting edge TV's and see no reason that couldn't have been integrated here. It's also disappointing that the browser doesn't support Flash content.
Overall, a solid effort from Toshiba and makes me excited for what may be soon to come from them."
