TOSHIBA AND NEXT IT TO DEMONONSTRATE VIRTUAL ASSISTANT FOR HEALTHCARE
Conversational Software Delivered on High-Performance Mobile Devices Enables Physicians to Interact, Inform and Engage Patients
IRVINE, Calif. – Feb. 24, 2014 Toshiba’s Digital Products Division (DPD), a division of Toshiba America Information Systems, Inc., today announced their intentions to pursue a strategic relationship with Next IT, a leading provider of intelligent virtual assistants. Through this relationship, Next IT will deliver its natural language platform, Alme for Healthcare, on Toshiba tablets and laptops at HIMSS 2014 to show how the technology can enable healthcare professionals to deliver personalized interactions every day, provide adherence-boosting coaching for those facing chronic illnesses, and help organizations guide members through complex forms and processes.
“New mobile technologies and software are revolutionizing how healthcare providers are able to interact with and inform their patients,” said Patrick Mani, vice president of sales, Toshiba America Information Systems, Inc., Digital Products Division. “A partnership with Next IT would mean the ability to offer a complete mobile virtual assistant solution that would help physicians engage with their patients and enable patients to take control of their own health.”
“We developed Alme for Healthcare, our industry-leading platform, to improve the lives of patients,” said Mitch Lawrence EVP Sales & Marketing, Next IT. “We’re thrilled to be working with Toshiba to showcase Alme capabilities on best-in-class devices that provide the mobility and performance patients and healthcare providers need.”
Alme for Healthcare is a conversational software solution that’s extending healthcare professionals’ ability to deliver personalized interactions every day. The software combines an intricate natural language model with the simple, friendly interface of an avatar – or virtual health assistant (VHA) – to drive interactive conversations with users on their channel of choice. With a knowledgeable understanding of complex administrative and clinical issues, and the ability to personalize the interaction, Alme for Healthcare VHAs connect with users in a very human-like way – establishing a relationship and empowering individuals to effectively manage their own health, anytime, anywhere, their way.
Toshiba and Next IT will showcase this collaborative solution on the Toshiba Excite 7 tablets in Booth #5889 during the 2014 HIMSS Conference & Exhibition on February 23-27, 2014 in Orlando.
